      As far as I can tell it's got a head about 1/3 wider, 3 brightness settings instead of 2, it also is a light grey rather than white. So it looks a bit nicer (subjective), definitely has a larger illumination area (useful)and has an extra brightness setting. On the other other hand, it appears to be the same LEDs as colour temperature, CRI and Lux@30cm is the same, there's probably just more LEDs in it. I haven't tested the Luminos but the specs suggest that the light quality would be identical.
      FYI if you're in the UK both are cheaper from Heamar than direct from Daylight Company.

    Great review! Recently really got into the hobby of painting miniatures due to becoming a very passionate DM, running DnD for my nerdy ass friends (who hadn't played before, ever)
    Soon we're doing our 7th 4 hour session, and everybody is hyped!
    I was struggling painting on the hours I liked (as I work hospitality, so its always dark out when I get home and have free time)
    Saw this lamp was on sale on a webshop, watched this review and instantly purchased.
    Snagged it for just 100 euro's, total steal.

    What a brilliant and well considered review! I'm considering buying this lamp. I'm hesistant because I worry those joints will eventually slip- I saw someone review it that way on Amazon. To be honest I would happily pay £300 for a lamp if I knew it would last for more than a decade. I really hate buying things that only last a couple to a few years. I'm definitely leaning more towards this lamp due to your video. Thank you for taking the time to make it!

      Thanks for the glowing review of my review! I've had the lamp about 6 months now, none of the pivots are loose at all. I leave it up at weired angles all the time and it doesn't slip. There is a tiny bit of play where the bottom of the arm sits in the clamp base, but that allows it to be swung around easily. I've probably had it on, which includes switching between low and high a fair bit, about 200 hours in total so far and there's no issues to date. For a good quality 'hobby level' lamp I'm very pleased with it.

    This is fabulously put together. Great review. I have an Elgato key light and I’ve just eyeballed the Kelvin but now having a figure 5500 to aim for it may look better. The downside is there is no real way to diffuse it.

    Thanks for the review, subbed for future vids. Glad to hear you got your mike sorted :) I'm trying to decide between this and a lightcraft pro. I think we are at the point in the miniature hobby where £100-120 on light should be seen as a bargain when you consider just how much use we get from it and how much it protects our eyes.

      Thanks for the comment. I hadn't seen much about the Lightcraft Pro, had a look now and it looks to have a better head movement range than the Lumi but I can't find anything about specific about the CRI values or an indepth review. Let me know how you get on if you get either! I've had the Lumi a while now and I totally agree re: value. When you think how much we spend on models, paint, brushes etc, and how important good vision is, £90ish starts to feel a lot more reasonable.

    Very good review. Thankyou for making this video.
    The color temperature looks very good. Now I'm thinking about getting one for my Fly
    Tying. I currently have to use three lights to get the amount of light I feel comfortable with.
    One is an overhead magnifying fluorescent light, other light is from Alert Stamping, and one more smaller LED light for the background.
    I already spent enough money, and I probably have enough light, but the Lumi really lights up your desk and the color temperature is spot on. I think I would be happy if I had one. I could always use the other lights incase I needed more light.

    Have you had any problems with the lamp? I bought one in early 2020 and the switch is now not working every time. I looked at taking it apart but not found a way yet.

    • @NoProcrastinationMiniatures
      @NoProcrastinationMiniatures  10 месяцев назад +1

      I haven't had any issues at all. I would expect that if it stays on when you manage to switch it on then it is the switch mechanism at fault rather than some other problem with the wiring. I'm not a competent electrician but now you've mentioned it I can imagine that the switch is a bit of a weak link as it isn't a basic switch that allows you to switch it to permanently on (on the switch) whereby you could then just use the wall switch to turn it on and off. Total guess here (and I wouldn't recommend doing it) bit if you can get the head unit open it might be possible to bypass the switch, but you then wouldn't have the 2 brightness settings. If you're in the UK it could be worth it to contact the retailer and explain politely that this is a premium item that you've used well within it's intended use range and although out of warranty you believe a replacement is appropriate in accordance with your consumer rights because it is reasonable that it should still work after 3 years careful use (as an item marketed as high quality). Google money-saving expert consumer rights- it's a last resort option but worth a shot as it is true that this is meant to be a fairly premium lamp (which advertises the longevity of theLEDs) and I would expect other components to last.

      @@NoProcrastinationMiniatures Thanks for the reply, I am in Canada and bought the lamp whilst in the US plus it is just about 4 years old so no doubt out of warranty. I do have a local lamp store that has repaired a bedside lamp for me in the past so I might try him to see if it can be fixed. I only use the highest setting when painting figures so if I cannot get the switch fixed I might just ease the switch out and replace it with a straight forward on/off one. Worst case scenario is I can get a new lamp from Walmart for a reasonable price. Cheers, Graham

    Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time and sharing.
    I'm really tempted to go for this light but seen 'the Native lighting N1190' on Heamar
    Which is roughly the same price. I don't suppose you are aware of that model? How it might compare etc.
    Not sure what direction to go lol. I think the cr is 86, little less lumen, and is dimmable. Now you have used it for a while... Would you prefer the Lumi was dimmable or do you like the two solid levels can I ask?
    Thanks!

    • @NoProcrastinationMiniatures
      @NoProcrastinationMiniatures  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. I've not used the N1190 but looking at the specs it's specced at 5500k rather than the 6000k of the Lumi, so the lumi will be a little more blue. In honesty that will come down to preference. If anything, 5500k is probably slightly more preferable for craft/painting. Re: dimming, I dont really miss that at all, I just move the lamp up or down a bit!! The n1190 is specced a little less bright. Again, neglible difference. I regularly use my lumi on the lower setting. So the N1190 looks as good to me. The only 'unknown' is the diffusion which you can't tell in specs you'd need to find a video of it in action. Hope that's helpful. Btw i got my lumi from Heamar- no problem with the service.

    Hey, great video! Its nice that you talk about the hard/soft shadows, people normally just focus on the temperature, and this seems as important. I am planning to buy this lamp, but I am quite confused by the lack of rotating head. In the pictures at the website, you can clearly see three rotational joints, which should allow for the movement you are talking about. They also show the head in different angles, like perpendicular to the arm. How is it possible? Is the mechanism in the pictures not in the final product? Am I missing something?

    • @NoProcrastinationMiniatures

      It's frustrating when a reasonably premium and good product has poor support. I imagine it comes down to a mixture of the manufacturer saving money at the expense of annoying their customers, and maybe not wanting to sell spare electrical components for fear of a customer injuring themselves doing DIY repair which is somewhat understandable (hence unwillingness to give schematics). Thanks for the information- it's helpful in giving a broader perspective to anyone thinking of buying one.
