The whole problem with this story is that, even if you can hear sounds to clue you in, you still need to know what's going on in the game. If you react to a whoosh sound for example, so what? @@drewtheunspoken3988 That's a silly reason. On the MK topic with the blind dude. I think it's brilliant that he has input toward sound design. I think another awesome addition could be to have deaf people have input on video design. Those 2 factors working together I think could result in an absolutely fantastic immersion experience
3:00 This might be an outlier, but if this happens more frequently, the companies should be required to provide you a copy of the digital video that can be played without DRM before it gets removed from your account forever. I realize this isn't sony's call, but it would be the right thing to do. They should give them the same tv shows on another digital platform, like vudu or Apple maybe. You did pay for it and you should have a way to watch it.
Seriously! It's crazy how nowadays we only get the (transient) rights to play the game. We don't actually own them, which is absolute madness. If I don't actually own the game, I definitely shouldn't be paying top dollar for it. At the very least, if they're going to delist media, I think they should send you a download link for it so you can actually save it on a hard drive and enjoy it later after it's gone from their servers. Alternatively we shouldn't have to pay top dollar for what are essentially long-term rentals.
Tears of the Kingdom's playground is honestly the best part. It's a thrill in every sense of the word. Even for non-gamers, I'd recommend it just to experience the physics. It's the perfect low barrier for entry & unfathomably high skill ceiling.

AI is getting more and more scary at how it changes or adds to things, but that whole new images can be made with few errors. Deepfake deserves a mention, too.
Couldn't help myself and looked for the Wolverine leak and it looks pretty good. It's obviously wonky, since it's in early stages of development, but it's clear that Insomniac are using their Spider-Man games as a template and it's pretty neat.
It looks boring, there's pretty much no reason to see the leaks. 90% of the animations are reused, and it doesn't show anything more than what you would expect (attack bad guys, walking cycles) except it's all purely concept. Seriously just picture Spiderman with unfinished model swaps and that's pretty much it. It's way too early, it's not even at the early-build stage, this is practically no different than seeing concept sketches.
I imagine Avowed will be very similar to what an Elder Scrolls New Vegas would've been. Interesting that The Outer Worlds already kinda feels like a Starfield New Vegas.
Things like magnific AI seem great for references. Say you're making a 3D model. You're feeling pretty good about it, but then you import it in there, so what it does to it, and ask "Do I need to ad those details to my model?" and just go back and forth until your 3D model hits a satisfactory point for you. Some of this, like the deformation of the bones around her elbow at 8:48 are just SO hard to do, especially in a game engine, that you wouldn't add it to the model. That's a deformation you basically only see in a few select poses, and games will, reasonably skip that. It would be a big resource hog to do on every character. But especially for something that's in a more neutral pose, like the face, it could be a useful reference.
Yeah! They should make a character called "Kenshi Takahashi" who is a blind swordsman wearing red clothes, who descended from the "Taira Clan" which has been wiped out but the rest went to hiding and changed to "Takahashi" for safety, and one who has a family katana named "Sento" but was bought for $3M by Johnny Cage, but was eventually returned to Kenshi, and was able to manifest its telekinetic abilities. Would be an amazing idea!
So glad to see the industry leaps and thoughtfulness in accessibility! Blinnk and the Vacuum of Space, Street Fighter 6, and a lot of Sony first-party stuff. It's so great!
Sony knew that they didn’t have the right to sell perpetual licenses for other media companies’ content but they still gave the impression to their customers that they did. I’m sure their fine print probably covered them but if they used the word “buy” then they were intentionally implying that you weren’t going to be subject to license revocation. It may not have been their decision but they are still culpable. Sounds like things have been made more or less right and hopefully now more consumers understand what “buy” means for digital rights managed content.
people i know thought i was crazy for purchasing all my favorite shows and movies (games too) on physical media a handful of years ago because my argument was always the same, "i dont want to turn on netflix one day and breaking bad is no longer there" and sure enough its ringing true
What's almost amzing about the Rockstar hack is that it was done by a British kid with a Kindle Fire Stick and burner phone while being held in a hotel, as a form of house arrest, as he awaited trial for other cyber crimes. Good lord some props must be awarded, even if the whole thing landed him a life sentence in a mental hospital, which it did.
7:13 one would imagine a lot of people get kidnapped - and shipped to an island where there forced to wear the outfits and fight each other , for mega rich people to bet on and the action is top notch, plus they’ll be one main hero that wins .
I really hope they don't take too much away from what makes GTA GTA. The comical side of it, I mean, and how the main characters seem to be the only sane people in the world while everyone else always appears to have some kind of screw loose. I've seen and heard that they will be pulling back from some of the offensive stuff they used to do, and that worries me. It has always been tongue in cheek, never to be taken seriously, and it reflects how dumb the real world is (for example, the gta5 mission with the smartphone).
I could be 100% wrong here, but I am willing to bet that GTAVI is going the way of RDR2. RDR2 had every right to be a serious game, so was RDR, so I am not trying to knock that. What am saying is that chances are GVAVI will also be a serious game. There will be no jokes made about literally anything that could effect the LGBTQ+ community or any other community that Rockstar has decided to cave to. It will be sanitized just like RDR2. Just look at Arthur Morgan. Arthur had no opinions that would be contraversial today; he was okay with anyone of any race, didn't dislike gays, was for women's suffrage, etc. There will be humor in the game, IMO, but it will the same type of humor you saw in RDR2.
The thing about physical media being unavailable is largely up to the consumer. You can just buy physical media for most games and TV shows. I dunno why people act like it's not an option.

Don't underestimate blind gamers and their help software. I play Arma 3 with a blind guy and yeah he got the servers highest friendly fire rate and friendly fire incidents are named after him but he is also extremely accurate.
Game preservation aside, soon the servers themselves for The Day Before will be shut down, as stated by the publisher, so even if you have the files you won't be able to play the game. Unlike something like PT that was delisted, but still playable if it's on your hard drive.

The whole problem with this story is that, even if you can hear sounds to clue you in, you still need to know what's going on in the game. If you react to a whoosh sound for example, so what? What does the whoosh sound represent? Someone would have to tell you every little thing going on in the game to know what the sounds represent.
@@srellison561 I was just commenting on sound in video games because the blind guys story reminded me of it. I understand your point and wasn't trying to say otherwise.
@@josephtrujillo4677 Nor was I. I was just making an observation, that without knowing what was happening in the game, the sounds don't really mean anything.
For number 8, Sony announced that they're no longer removing those shows after making a new licensing deal with WB.
Mortal Kombat is one of the most accessible games for blind gamers. I remember reading a Game Informer back in the day about a kid that was blind that was basically a pro. Also look up Michael Espinoza. He's a pro MK player too. Would love see a tournament of accessibility gamers!
Happy new year!
But also story 8 is why I’ve started just saying I want it physical or I don’t want it at all. I want to own my games thank you. The only excuse for that is an indie game studio that can’t afford to make a physical game.
It's why I'll probably never play Alan Wake 2. I'm hoping I get my hands on Baldur's Gate 3 physical so I can finally play that.
@@drewtheunspoken3988 That's a silly reason. Video game licensing doesn't work the same way as TV shows and movies so using what happened with them for a basis on how you treat video games is very silly lol
If a company stops being able to sell a game or no longer has the license, they just stop selling it. That's it. It's still available for the person to play so long as they purchased it.
Don't get me wrong, there are valid reasons for buying only physical when it's bigger companies (which I really don't include Remedy in cuz they're not some huge studio with a near limitless budget who get tens of millions of units sold for their games).
Agreed. I did buy BG3 tho BUT will be buying the physical copy soon!!
Gameranx, I love the channel, and have been watching for years. As much as I love watching/listning to Jake and Falcon, id love to see a video featuring everyone else who works at, and operates Gameranx! Thank you for all your hard work!
🤝
Yep seconded.
@@gameranxTVI think it'd make a cool Friday video. They could do a tour of the office and have mini interviews with everyone talking about what they do at Gameranx and possibly their favorite game or gaming memory. Something like that would be really entertaining and a great way to learn more about the whole team. And hell, they deserve the recognition for being the best gaming news channel on the interwebs!
“nO FalLoUt 3 iS tHe bEtHeSdA oNe” has me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣
On the MK topic with the blind dude.
I think it's brilliant that he has input toward sound design. I think another awesome addition could be to have deaf people have input on video design. Those 2 factors working together I think could result in an absolutely fantastic immersion experience
Keep going with your great work and videos, Falcon and Gameranx. 🎉
Yes to Jake! Falcon is heavily biased.
Falcon I look forward to these gaming story videos every month. Hits every time. You’re the man 👍🏼
3:00 This might be an outlier, but if this happens more frequently, the companies should be required to provide you a copy of the digital video that can be played without DRM before it gets removed from your account forever.
The last dude rocks, literally real life Dare Devil, or at least as close as reasonably possible. Also I think he can not only help with accessibility but also with sound design which just as important as animation
Great list, every point was interesting! Usually on game-specific lists, I fast forward through the games I'm not interested in, but gaming news like this was cool
The blind gamer is even more amazing than most people realize. As far as I understand a game sound happens after a player has pushed a button to do a thing. This guy hears that sound, knows what it is and REACTS to that sound before getting hit. 👀
The Day Before is gonna be like Big Rigs where the game is so bad, it's immediately delisted (pulled of shelves in Big Rigs case) so it's becoming a valuable collection for someone who is interested in trash games
Or youtubers, who looves to make "clickbait" content.
Except this isn't a physical object. All it takes is one person to upload a cracked version of the game and the value falls apart.
do u live under the ocean bro, its already been unlisted for a week or two now. everyone got their money back. and HE LITERALY said it's selling for $200 now. Did u not watch the video? 😭
@@FertBertthere are already clean Steam files on a forum I don't know if I'm allowed to name.
not sure if the game can even be cracked though, considering it's an online only game
I always make sure to check out your content as soon as it's released........it's a delight to watch !!
As someone who has been into Elder Scrolls since Arena and who’s favourite Fallout game is New Vegas, seeing Obsidian’s spin on it would be a dream come true. I love Bethesda and I’ve replayed all of the Elder Scrolls titles more times than I can count but I also agree that Obsidian really gets Bethesda games and I just know they’d do something incredibly interesting with the IP.
number 1 is amazing, I absolutely love when people focus on making games more accessible and therapeutic
"Let them play games" ~ George Washington probably
AI is getting more and more scary at how it changes or adds to things, but that whole new images can be made with few errors. Deepfake deserves a mention, too.
AI makes me feel like there is no point to humanity anymore.
@@Badficwriter It's been teased for a long while, including from movies like i Robot.
Gotta love Valve’s creativity with banning cheaters. They literally said, “Hello, Merry Christmas and Goodbye Forever”
Hands down top tier gaming journalism! Glasses up to a good gaming year!
Not really since they got the Sony/Discovery story wrong.
"I'm kidding it's not an advantage, BECAUSE THE MAN CAN NOT SEE" you killed me with that line lmao
You know what’s weird? I’m still over here playing bloodborne.
A hunter must hunt, after all. Such a great game
The day that games, films, and/or music goes *digital only* is the day I sail the high seas for *everything.*
This is one of the few things that brings me joy to actually watch. Thank you Falcon and Gameranks.
i love love love that you guys are talking about accessibility in gaming consistently
Couldn't help myself and looked for the Wolverine leak and it looks pretty good. It's obviously wonky, since it's in early stages of development, but it's clear that Insomniac are using their Spider-Man games as a template and it's pretty neat.
How did you find the leaked images/videos?
It looks boring, there's pretty much no reason to see the leaks. 90% of the animations are reused, and it doesn't show anything more than what you would expect (attack bad guys, walking cycles) except it's all purely concept. Seriously just picture Spiderman with unfinished model swaps and that's pretty much it. It's way too early, it's not even at the early-build stage, this is practically no different than seeing concept sketches.
@@doasitellyouu bro, everyone reuses animations, it would be way too expensive to only use each one once
Thank you for having common sense. Seems like a lot of people don't know what an alpha build is.
I appreciate your segment on the "Florida Joker" came off as more of a stern talking to about your disappointment in him than anything else lol.
"Random Florida Man" 😅😅
Gotta love the Sunshine State, lol
That Zelda joke actually made me laugh out loud. “I’m a child and I don’t understand what you’re talking about” 🤣
I imagine Avowed will be very similar to what an Elder Scrolls New Vegas would've been.
This is why piracy will always exist.
Who else thinks Mortal Kombat now needs a blind character. That really sounds like a good idea.
Wow caught this one early , happy new year everyone
Happy New Year
So glad to see the industry leaps and thoughtfulness in accessibility!
Depends on country/region because in some physical copy of a game means you own it regardless what publisher says - it's part of the consumer law.
Damn I LOVE getting my 35 year old as ready for work listening to some good old gaming weirdness. Cheers. Genuinely ❤
The last guy is becoming Raiden. I can't imagine playing without my eye sight. Super awsome
I think too many people look at New Vegas through rose-colored glasses, forgetting how much of a technical mess it was.
It has a good story but the game itself is an absolute mess
Yes the game crashes a lot. But so does Skyrim, the main reason new vegas is what it is is becuase they were on a strict time limit.
This story is misleading. Sony worked out a deal for users to keep their Discovery shows for at least another 2.5 years.
I love it when Falcon explains extremely common concepts to me because he's just learned about them
Happy new year everyone 👍👍
Happy New Year
people i know thought i was crazy for purchasing all my favorite shows and movies (games too) on physical media a handful of years ago because my argument was always the same, "i dont want to turn on netflix one day and breaking bad is no longer there" and sure enough its ringing true
Thanks for giving us great content for 2023. I bet itll be 10000x better in 2024:)
AI makes everything soulless
If you did a best of weird gaming stories 2023, That Day Before would be #1.
The thing about physical media being unavailable is largely up to the consumer. You can just buy physical media for most games and TV shows. I dunno why people act like it's not an option.
when i was a kid i had a blind friend that could beat anyone at pokemon stadium. he had memorized the sound every pokemon makes when they appear on screen and all the moves
Absolutely agree with you on Obsidian knowing what Bethesda gamers want better than Bethesda does. Just started playing New Vegas over the last year (thanks in part to this channel mentioning it from time to time) and really think it's so much better done. And I've played every Fallout game (other than 76) since the first one came out for Windows 95.
I'm a simple man. I see a Gameranx video with Falcon in it, and I stay, I see a Gameranx video with Jake in it, and I leave.
Always great content! 👏
With No.7 someone I know told me that it's right to pirate video games you've bought already to have them in case the company takes from you what you've bought already and honestly I kinda agree
I usually buy. But one game was so expensive, I didn't want to take the risk so I pirated. I liked it so much I went ahead and bought it. Basically the pirate was like a demo copy. One dev said that he preferred people pirate whole copies rather than buy through shady dealers that require the company to reimburse the customer who got ripped off.

I have played this Wolverine game like 5 times in my college. One of the best super hero games ever made in my opinion.
This channel has gotten real bad lately. Lazy editing and content. Clicking the "Do not recommend channel" button.
"There's an arguement to be had about our economic system. But this isn't the place." That falcon mask almost slipped aye Pete?
I totally agree with Falcon. Bethesda knows that the modders and also Obsidian can make better games than them.
The statement that Falcon made about Bethesda rang true so true to me, it brought a tear to me eye
What an inspiration that blind man is. Doing what he loves for work and able to whoop ass in video games. Makes me feel sorry for myself, not him 😂.
Thanks for this upload! Aside from the obvious, "great video, #6 really made me scratch my head!" reason, it also actually reminded me that I needed to update the playlist I made that's grouped every 10 WEIRD Gaming Stories all the way back to January 2019 in one nice little place lol
I see you've smoothen the transition of the flashbangs number. Props to the editor and the person who thought of it.
The day before is the new flappy bird
"I'm a child and I don't understand anything that you're telling me right now.. But Zelda's cool" 😂😂

No.3 Fallout New Cyrodil
You know what that feels like something Psycho Mantis would do tho tbh lol 9:39
Apparently The Day Before scalpers haven't learned yet that one, the game is an asset flip so all the assets can be purchased elsewhere and two, when the game's servers go down the game won't be accessible anymore. 🙄
I really would love to see "the Day Before" come back with a "no man's sky" type comeback
I hate digital media. Nothing like seeing those cases neatly organized on a shelf.
" I'm a child and I don't understand anything you're telling me right now, but Zelda's cool" Oh Falcon, you are brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
it's insane how he's able to consistently talk at half speed
Number 8 is why I started my switch to physical media again.
Don't underestimate blind gamers and their help software. I play Arma 3 with a blind guy and yeah he got the servers highest friendly fire rate and friendly fire incidents are named after him but he is also extremely accurate.
Not blindness is the same though.
Game preservation aside, soon the servers themselves for The Day Before will be shut down, as stated by the publisher, so even if you have the files you won't be able to play the game. Unlike something like PT that was delisted, but still playable if it's on your hard drive.
Video idea: Top 10 games that deserve a remaster or Top 10 games that should've never gotten a sequel.
I think they did the remaster one. I may be mistaken though.
Wow the college professor using Zelda to teach engineering and physics is just so awesome lmao
I half expected a Kenshi joke on the mortal Kombat story. Would be very accurate.
Wow! That guy can actually say, “I can beat you with my eyes closed”
imagine spending thousands on tuition and getting into high student debt by going to a good university but instead of providing you with the proper tools, your profesor uses some video game to teach you engineering.
Happy New Year, folks.
Happy New Year
People are facing so much problems due to digital content, they still feel okay to lose it. Imaging buying a room in hotel and the hotel owner just sell the hotel claiming they're shutting down without giving you access to your room while without a refund.
People will still complain and act like nothing happened.
man, this is tough. praying for you Jay
