    Thank you for the great comparison video of these 2 lights. These are great lights with a fantastic throw for distance and will be great for self defense. I purchased the EDC1-DFT and was impressed with it that I also purchased the EDC2-DFT.

    Man, thanks so much for actually showing the lights in the pocket. Even pressing to show the footprint in the pocket. Too few reviewers doing that and it’s info I want when considering a light. Any issues with accidental discharges in the pocket with the EDC2 since it sticks out more?

      Yeah it was an idea another viewer gave me on the previous video I did. This is only my 3rd or 4th light review so still learning and appreciate the feedback I've been getting. The EDC 2 did turn on a few times when I was wearing jeans and sitting down in my office chair but not when wearing dress slacks.

    Thanks for the video, Surefire‘s website actually has incorrect information because they are saying they are both 4.76 inches long and I knew that wasn’t the case.

    For the high prices SF should just offer one light with both bodys so you could exchange for your needs. Sofirn for example did this with some 18650 lights. They also gave you an 16350 body . I dont like the high/low setting. The low should be hidden for a tactical light. Like they did with many other models.

    Just got my EDC1-DFT. I really like it. The only thing I noticed, I'm having trouble getting low output with the 123A battery. Seems like I can't click fast enough twice to get it to low. With the 18350, it works as I expected. No big deal, I actually took the 123A from another Surefire and plan to use it until it dies and then switch to the 18350 all the time.

      123 is already a lower output

      @@tylerreis7627 Yes, but it still has two modes. Rather, it is supposed to.

    Just found your videos tonight and glad all three of these were out when I found the channel. I think you saved me from this purchase. If surefire had of kept the same gas pedal switch and twist function to keep contestant on, I’d have been all over these.

    Great video. I would go with the EDC1, but I know I'd burn a hole in my pocket with it. haha. That tail cap light switch just protruded too much. I burned a hole in the pocket of two of my pants with the Fenix EDC light due to negligent discharges. Like the old cartoons I said, "Do you smell something burning?" and it was me. haha. So I got the Cloud Defensive EDC MCH because it had the ND protector which has worked great.
    I was hoping the SureFire would have the ND protector also. I don't have a big belly, but I set off any big light with a large tail cap when I sit down.
    Thanks for the vides and great info about the SureFire battery lasting longer than the Modlite.

      Lol glad your ok and weren't hurt too bad. Thank you, glad it was useful! I only have the rein 3.0. I've been using surefire for close to 24 years and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with cloud defense. So far it seems like they listen to their customers and make changes. Plus I think the rein 3.0 might be better than surefire turbo light.

    was gonna ask if the parts are interchangeable, you addressed it at the end, thank you. Hopefully this means they'll start brining back some of the "lego-a-bility" of their lights that we loved so much with the e-series.

      For carrying in my pocket, the EDC 1. The EDC 2 sticks out too much for me and kept turning on when I sat down in my office chair or would just stick/poke the side of my hips more than I'd like but that's just me. I have the EDC 2 in my EDC pack/get home bag.

    Are the tail caps and heads thread compatible with older EDC1 ?

    Is there any way we can get a comparison between the surefire EDC2 DFT and the nitecore EDC33

    • @CivilianWarrior

      Actually Nightcore just reached out and asked if I wanted to review that light. Unfortunately I did have to return the edc2-dft but I plan to record the video in the same exact spot so you can compare the beam by comparing the videos. That's the best I can do.

    • @CivilianWarrior
      @CivilianWarrior  9 месяцев назад +2

      I can tell you right now, they don't compare. The Nightcore EDC gets extremely hot after just 20 seconds on the highest mode. That and it literally drops down to the lowest output setting. After 20 seconds of use on its highest mode and the hotter the light gets the less amount of time you can use the brightest setting.

      The high/low is realy stupid for a tactical light. The Low should be hidden with a twist in the tailcap or something like that. Like they did with other models.

  • @cleaner660

    How hot does it get ?

    • @CivilianWarrior
      @CivilianWarrior  6 месяцев назад

      Comparing it to the Nightcore EDC 33, and as long as you are only grabbing the handle portion of the light, it gets warm not hot. Very manageable without gloves. Light head does get hot but nothing like the EDC 33 from Nightcore.

      Yeah it just depends on what you are looking for in a light. Steamlights are pretty good too and cheaper.
