    Thanks for creating this video series. I'm knitting up my first worsted cardigan! I'm usually knitting fingering weight socks, but I've always wanted to knit a cardigan. I've knit TinCanKnits Flax Light Sweater, so I'm hoping Harvest will be just as fun and rewarding.

    Hey! Thank you for showing this as a whole series. It’s lockdown and I am going to try knit a item of clothing. I normally only do teddies and blankets. So big change for me. However I do not have wool all in one colour so unsure if I could just make it a miss match jumper haha. But again. Thank you so much

    I have made 3 full pairs of round toe cust. socks completeand will post this week. Now received my yarn for the Harvest cardi, and starting today.
    I have a great idea for a small winter knit project, if you don't mind. A PET SWEATER for the cold season.

    Its not a hard pattern, but I didnt think the construction was intuitive. I wish I had waited a few years to knit this KAL with you. It would have saved me many many headaches. 👍🏽

    This may be a stupid question, but if you use the larger needles to start the collar, when do you switch to the smaller needles? Is the larger size for the cast-on only? This is my first sweater. Also, I just have to say how much I appreciate you, Jana. You taught me how to knit socks and that brought much joy to my life. Thanks for being you.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  Год назад

      It's been several years since I knitted this, but if I recall, you'd use the smaller needles for the ribbing. You'll want to verify that with the pattern, however.

    Jana, can you substitute the seed stitch for the garter stitch on the collar? Or would it throw off the gauge?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  5 лет назад +1

      It might throw off the gauge. I'd knit a good sized swatch to see.

  • @hwilli09
    @hwilli09 5 лет назад

    I’ve read through the instructions and I’m not seeing where you use the smaller needle size. Is the cast on the only time you use the larger needle size?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  5 лет назад +1

      If I recall, you use the smaller needle size for the cuffs at the bottom of the sleeve and the bottom edge of the body of the sweater.

    So I have a question with the provisional cast on is there any particular directions that the loops are supposed to be heading so that when we get around to putting those on the needle they're going in the right direction to continue with the pattern? Just wondering if I miss something in their. I'll watch your video again just to make sure I didn't miss it.

    • @deleahcortes3027
      @deleahcortes3027 6 лет назад

      I think what happened with mine is my front became my back and my back became my front somehow. Even though on knit night we had talked about what was the front and what was the back. That's the only thing I can figure out that I did differently. I somehow had turned IT around. It's just taking a little bit of figuring out on my end to get the pattern to match down the front, but you can't tell from looking at my collar that I made the mistake.

      Yes, but we can fix the stitch orientation when the time comes for you to put those stitches onto a working needle.

    • @deleahcortes3027
      @deleahcortes3027 6 лет назад

      So in other words if I end up in the same page on round 2 I'll try to be patient and wait for the fix

  • @orkitgal
    @orkitgal 6 лет назад

    I did my gauge and both of them were either too small or too big, with my yarn 220, with size 8 needle I measured 24 row at 4” 26 rows were way big size 9 needles 26 rows measured 26.5 rows, so I will bow out on this one, or knit it for the heck of it.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  6 лет назад

      I would worry less about the number of row you get and concentrate on the stitches per inch horizontally across your knitting. You can always adjust the length of the sleeves or the body as needed, but the stitches per inch is what's important.

  • @orkitgal
    @orkitgal 6 лет назад

    Jana, HELP, bust is 42 but knitting that sizes would be small and tight on me, I like “larger” sweaters I usually use them like a coat, should I knit the size 47”?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  6 лет назад

      Did you go and measure something in your closet that fits you the way that you'd like?

    • @orkitgal
      @orkitgal 6 лет назад

      Purl Together no because i really don’t have anything.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  6 лет назад

      In that case, I'd suggest just taking a tape measure, holding it at 47" (the bust size of the XL) and trying to visualize how that might be with those extra few inches around you. If you like to wear your sweaters like a coat, then you might appreciate having a larger size for wearing layers?

    • @orkitgal
      @orkitgal 6 лет назад

      I dug in my closet and did fine two to measure one I made and one bought, real close in measurements, bust across from was 23, so I’ll do the 47 and see what happens. Thanks so much.
