Wow! I just finished watching the "Echo in the Cannon" narrated by Jakob Dillion tonight (Netflix) which explores the beginning of "new" bands that emerged after the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. Such bands as the Byrds, The Beach Boys, Mamma and Papas and Buffalo Springfield. Buffalo Springfield band members were Neil Young, Stephen Stills, David Crosby etc.. I was only around 10 or 11 years old when these bands played on the radio and Neil Young was among my favorite musicians! What a coincidence seeing him on Conan tonight too. I love love "Harvest Moon"!!! Rock on Neil!!

Great interview w/ Neil. He sounded in very good spirits w/ Conan. Even with Conan getting Neil to open up on his surgery recovery. We're so lucky when you realize the gravity of Neil's statement: "I wasn't sure whether I'd live or ever be able to play again."

And they got into the influence of the audience, etc - but Neil was happy to appear with Conan. Why? Because they both understand the open-ended, creative, but not overly personally referenced observations that occur along the way.

No they were in a band together in Detroit and were signed to Motown. All that happened before Neil was in Buffalo Springfield.
