He approached Maddie's brother and tried to get a ride when the mom arrived to pick her son up, mother & son totally unaware that he was the shooter AND that Maddie had been shot!
The sad reality is, neither life in prison nor the death penalty is sufficient justice for it. It is getting off very easy compared to its victims either way.
As painful as this is for everyone to go through again, their words will help decide if he gets the death penalty or not. Depending on how people feel about the death penalty, it's worth it for them to go through this again to make sure he gets the punishment they deem fit for the shooter.

Maddie is amazing. I’ve seen many interviews that she has done through the years. I’ve seen the video of her in the classroom after she had been shot and it’s worse than horrifying. I’m thinking a life sentence without the possibility of parole would be a more painful sentence than checking out by a death sentence. Not sure which is worse. Life sentence would be protracted but death would be quicker.

@@SirNerdly Even the most conservative estimates place the number of DGUs yearly at around 100k, which is much more realistic, which also dwarfs the number of deaths by firearms in the US - especially considering a huge chunk of firearm deaths are suicides which are a different issue from gun ownership.
Still, the government cannot be trusted to restrict the People's weaponry, it's the first step every dictatorship and authoritarian state takes against its populace.
