It's one thing to be able to play it.... it's a completely different story to make it and make fuck loads of money out of it because it is appealing. He’s too nice of a guy to show how pissed he was that Head left lol..
    The first time I saw Korn I remember Munky stayed on stage for like 30 minutes after the band bounced (and most of the crowd) with his new baby just talking to the folks that stayed and wanted to introduce his kid. (Talking in the mic toward those of us that stayed around) Ever since then I had a lot of respect for him as a person. Always been a HUGE fan but I’ll always remember that. It showed a human side you rarely see in a rock star. He didn’t know us, he didn’t have to do that, but he wanted to connect. It meant something to me. It was 2002 in Austin, Texas. I was 15 years old.

    Guitar nerds like myself are very annoying at times. They trash any one who can't play like Jason Becker or Steve Vai. Steve Vai himself tells a story about hearing Korn for the first time and being blown away by them. I myself am not a big fan but I do enjoy their first album which blind appeared on. I have spent hours and hours daily for a number of years trying to become a great player and when I reached proficiency at the instrument a few people wanting to learn to play asked "wow did you get so good, I could never do that" and my reply was always You don't have to be great at guitar to be a great musician. Many musicians I revere are not great players at all. People like Chris Cornell and even Kurt Cobain are not technicians but they wrote amazing music. You have to identify your goals. If want to be a virtuoso then the rules change, you have to spend a portion of your life dedicated to playing and practicing for many long hours. If you want to be a songwriter then the amount of practice is greatly decreased. Ultimately writing and expressing yourself creatively is the most important thing, The Korn guys aren't trying to write music that is progressive with shredding riffs and solos. There's nothing remotely wrong with that but for some people if the music isn't mind bending with technique then the people who create it suck. I can play circles around Chris Cornell but he is a far better musician than i am because he possesses the ability to write powerful songs with memorable hooks. Guitar nerds can be so judgmental in the worse kinda way. Great music is great music rather its played with virtuosity or crude skills altogether. As long as it has impact the people who wrote it are quality artists.

      @StoneColt45 3 года назад +1

      @CYB3R2K30 EADGBE is standard tuning on a six string guitar, the first E meaning the top string, last E meaning bottom. This song uses a seven string with tuning ADGCFAD which means a six string guitar is tuned down one whole step, but there's also a big fat floppy top string tuned down from B to A. If you tune your six string down to CGCFAD, called drop C, your guitar is one step down except for your top string which is 2 steps down. It helps replicate the seventh string. Only Munky is in a standard tuning (all the strings tuned the same steps), so someone was arguing that DGCFAD is more accurate because then you have the same tuning as Munky, only you don't have the fancy extra string.

    You can tell Munky is a fundamentally sound guitar player who got bored of rules. Even when he plays the korn parts, they groove, and there's some music theory behind it. Don't be surprised if he can do some shredding and stationary rhythmn parts.

    I like that he talks about transitioning from one section of a song to another. I think that's something that beginners maybe ignore because we want to learn riffs and lead lines and all these cool little parts of songs, but if I don't practice changing from one section to another on time, even "easy" songs like this sound like shit if you don't have timing and feel, regardless of if you know all the sections of the song or not. It takes a different type of practice to get used to playing along with the song rather then just learning the pieces that comprise the song

    For everyone who says Korn is simple and takes no talent on guitar. Go write about 100 songs on guitar, then try to sell them, or get enough people to fill the smallest club you can play in, then have anyone buy your music. Then come back and tell me if Korn doesnt have any talent. Creativity is harder to create then talent. Talent can be learned. Creativity can't. Thanks!

    • @SirHeadly84
      @SirHeadly84 3 года назад

      Come on. Im a MASSIVE korn fan and is say a below average guitar player. There songs are EASY to play and not very technical. However what they do write is creative and i like the use of harmonucs qnd different pedals to create atmosphere. But i wouldnt say they are technical or stand out players.
      Steve Vai was blown away by what they were able to do with the 7 string and what they were able to create. I know i would be a better musician if i knew more than 2 chords or if i could play a progression in a certain key just by someone asking for it. But i can't. However i can almsot olay blind flawlessly..and can play enough of their songs well enough to be in a cover band.
