  • Circuit switching v. packet switching.
Circuit switching and packet switching represent two fundamentally different ways of making use of network resources. In a circuit-switched network a single reliable connection is established and maintained between communicating parties for the life of their exchange. In contrast, packet-switched networks divide data into packets, each of which can flow down many different network paths.

Studying for my Network+. Thanks for sharing this. These certifications get you so focused on OSI, TCP/IP, and all the TCP/UDP protocols that we end up putting the cart before the horse. I wish I had started with this video.

Thanks a lot for this video. I was wondering about this very subject as the professor never mentioned why we adopt packet switching for data transmission.

I am a little confused, in your explanation circuit switching is dedicated, it guarantees the full bandwidth, in other explanations, we can transfer different frames from different clients at very regular intervals (fdm and tdm)
