Please believe if I could still grow hair on my head I'd have a very similar haircut.
Razor bumps is knurling for the scalp.
I have a lot of hair. It's annoying. I always wish I had less. I hate haircuts because it just grows back and looks fuzzy instantly. You're not missing out on anything
Go to turkey
Too bad you didn't have high top shoes on. That would have fit in better.
I could grow hair like that and I would look ridiculous.
In the beginning of the video I was disappointed thinking the thumbnail was a clickbait. But you didn’t disappoint, very nice video. Thanks
I will never pass up an opportunity to wear a mullet.
The thumbnail got me 😂
Things get weird down here.
Brandon needs a bodybuilding arc. His strength is beyond great, would be cool to see him utilize the basement for mass building. Show us how it’s done
I actually trained more of a BB style until I was about 30 before starting to get into powerlifting.
The montage of you lifting with 80s clothes and 80s music is amazing, keep up the work ✌️
🫡
I'm fortunate to have a gym at work, and we have a few of these bars and vintage deep dish plates.
Awesome! I considered going the milled york plate route but I like shiny things too much lol.
You mean I don’t need an Eleiko barbell and calibrated plates to get a workout in?
Could find an 80s eleiko bar
@@BasementBrandon touche
Glad to see you finally Push it to the Limit. Past the point of no return.
😂
I started lifting in the early 80s. So glad I didn't succumb to wearing leg warmers, but I did have leotards and wore gloves. Yowza! 😅
Hopefully a fanny pack to hold all your stuff!
Pause deadlifting 500 for reps is insane. Great content as always, man
appreciated!
Very selfless of you to film this after your step aerobics class😁
Sweating to the oldies my friend!
You can't just turn off the eighties!!!!!!!!!! Great video champ!
🙏
My YMCA still has a few of those. Trained for years in them. Still holding up. We also dress just like you whenever we use them. Mist be a requirement
It's in the manual!
Cosplay Brandon. The thing we didn't think we needed till we got it.
Tax write offs for halloween.
hair looks good on you! Can the meet shirts be with this design please?
would make a good alternate jersey.
Love this.
🙏
Very cool bar (and mullet)! Can't help but wonder about the PRs made with that bar in the past.
Exactly!
Brandon are you using the crumb or smooth finish tiles with the rogue platform? Any reason for one vs the other?
I went smooth, no particular reason!
We’re going to need to know where you got that outfit!
Amazon!
Damn brandon. Ordinary people such as yourself who are older than 40, still in great shape, and still able to lift heavy....gives me hope that i can still accomplish some overall fitness and strength goals. Im 35 and hate feeling like im running out of time.
I also have one of these york barbells that i have dedicated as a landmine bar lmao. It was rusty and i cleaned her up. Still nice to have it in the collection though
not dead yet!
Good stuff! If you ever get tired of having that bar around let me know. Would be my 2 for 1 chance to get a piece of York Barbell and Basement Brandon history in Massenomics Gym.
I tried to send it to you but the postman got a bit confused on the location.
Looked like a lot of fun to make the video haha. Bar looks in pretty good condition rust wise. Did you do much maintenance on it prior to use?
I actually bought this off a friend who had done a majority of the restoration.
@@BasementBrandon win winnity win then I guess 🥳
Love the drip.
Need more b-roll boxing sides of beef in a freezer.
Soon...
Yes!!!!!! 🎉
🤘
Omfg this just made my day ! 😂 thx Brandon
Thanks for taking a look!
Glad I was born in the 50's...LOL...uh maybe...fun review!!
Maybe need to bring the greasers to the basement.
@@BasementBrandonYeah...I grew up more in the 60's...born in 57...so I'm somewhere between a beatnik and a hippy ...probably why I like coffee and...ah...CA meds....LOL
Please more vintage stuff
Ah I don't own much in that regard :(
That’s crazy they made a modern bar
Lot of the older "power bars" are thinner at 28mm, so when you load em up they start whipping
Some good ole AquaNet can help with the knurling.
Used it all on the do.
Hilarious. Born in '81, eh? I was born in '67; was going to the gym with my Dad when you were a baby. LOL. I have some equipment in my home gym I bought over 20 years ago. Some of it (York deep dish plates) was already used I have no idea how old it is....
Some of the York DD plates go for quite the pretty penny. If you want help figuring out what you have I'd be happy to help you connect the dots.
LOL! Loved the outfit. Excellent!
Thanks B, hope you're recoving well!
@@BasementBrandon It's coming along.
This was fun, I hate when people take themselves to seriously
I'll take any excuse to wear a wig.
Excellent 👌
🤘🤘
lol that was amazing!
🙏
Was deadlifting or squatting worse in the wig? Amazing thunbnail, gotta be Squatober!
Hair got in my mouth, haven't had that feeling in 20 years
Bill S Preston esquire & I am Ted Theodore Logan. we are Wild Stallions 🎸
Rufus!
Way to make me feel old for being born in the 80s 😅
You and me both brother.
Very cool, other than that crap, poppy music. 80s also had Maiden, Metallica, Priest, Slayer, Dio, Ozzy and more.
I play that kind of music when I train now, so needed something that fit the attire more.
I am hoping that this video contains a joke about how the 1980s is the last time you had hair
Update: no joke in the video - you skated by on that one! 😂😂
I still have hair, just in different places now.
More dressup training vids.
Gonna become a cosplay channel before you know it.
That's my original Bar! Love the fact you reviewed the old classic York barbell made in the USA. I got mine in 1981 or 1982 from place called Buckeye Barbell and I still have the bench I got with it. Both are still in use as we speak. The barbell is in great shape and has that beautiful steel patina look. It's still one of my favorite bars along with my OPB and my new TPB (29mm of course). The bench is in great shape as well and only has two small tears in the vinyl covering the bench along with a little rust. I bought the bench because it had wide uprights (47.5 inches outside the uprights) that you now see on all rackable benches. I'm thrilled to see you review the Classic York Barbell. Great review as usual. Love the channel. Keep the content coming. Look forward to the next video.
Appreciate the comment, kind of fun to wonder who had their hands on this previously and the weights its seen.
Getting them flashback of the 80's, a timeless era, great video 👊
Best decade to grow up!
0:00-1:53 😠
1:54-5:17 😃
😇
I love finding older equipment like that.
Sadly it's harder and harder to find good scores these days.
Awesome video !!!
Thanks David!
I came for the thumbnail and a homage to my youth!
One of us!
those pythons and quads look so good in the new lifting attire
Been sayin my prayers and eating my vitamins.
That wig dude.... lol. This may need to be a recurring character!
It was just an excuse for me to be able to rock some hair again.
I love that you did a review on a bar that won't pay you a dime in royalties. A lot of people only review what they can hyperlink.
🙏
Please tell us you're not wearing your grandma's wig!!!!
My grandmother didn't have a mullet, but it would be cool if she did.
Bill and Ted’s Barbell Adventure
😂
I was born in '72 so slow your roll with the old talk 😅
I'm catching up!
Started weight training in 1966. York Barbell: Bob Hoffman. Olympic Weightlifters: Bob Bednarski, Joe Dube, Russ Knipp, Phil Grippaldi, Mike Karchut.
Back in the 1970’s, I followed powerlifters: Jon Cole, George Frenn, John Kuc, Hugh Cassidy, Don Reinhoudt, Doug Young, Larry Pacifico.
If you’re not familiar, check out Jon Cole’s bio. Great powerlifter. And great Olympic weightlifter! And world class track and field athlete!
Another great video! 👍👏💪
Larry's still coaching people!
I love that you went ahead and bought some clothes just for a clip (at least I HOPE that's not how you dress out and about ;-)).
Maybe I just made a video to justify the purchase lol
I can’t believe you stuck with the wig the whole time. Nice commitment, Screech!
Was going through hair withdrawal.
this should be a recurring show. straight to 80s without even intro 😀
😅 gonna need a bigger wardrobe.
How do you clean the rust off something like this?
If it's lighter rust you can still use a brush and oil (prob brass brush if it's bare steel). If rusted a lot, prob an OA bath first. You can RUclips it and find some good tutorials.
Haha. I think the era dress up make the bar way better
Look good, lift good!
My favorite bar!
It's solid!
Cool idea Brandon, this is very cool
My wife does not agree lol
@@BasementBrandon haha well I dunno if it’s us dudes being simple but hey I liked it
Cool. When I was a freshman in high school ('72) my Dad brought home a used "Dan Lurie Brooklyn, NY" standard 110 pound set. The bar and the db handles were solid 1" steel rods. The grips were chrome sleeves that the rod went through. Cast iron collars with screws to hold them on. I still use those plates and db handles all the time. (Not the barbell, though).
awesome!
When I was 16 (1960) I got a 110-pound set from a company, RS Co. Ordered from a bodybuilding magazine from the time. It came with a 1" bar and two 1" dumbbell bars like yours. It came with chrome sleeves for the bar and dumbbells. I still have this set except the chrome sleeve for the long bar. The plates would not fit the bars. My dad had to take the plates to work and have them reamed out.
I still use the plates every day on my plate loaded lat cable machine from Body-Solid.
In 1979 I got a set of York Dumbbells still made in the USA. 10 pounds to 45 pounds. I still have them. They are worth some bucks now.
Hey Branden, I've been working out in the basement since 1960. LOL
I started out with a long peice of 2.5" water pipe with two concrete-filled Hills Bros. coffee can on each side.
@@80yr.oldpowerlifter that's awesome, keep kicking ass!
@@80yr.oldpowerlifter Man, that is great! Iron lasts forever. My kids will use these plates. Their kids could use them. Try that with some electronic gizmo.
"All we are is dust in the wind, Dude."
Bill! Don't forget to wind your watch.
Great movie.
I was just at York Barbell today. I told them they needed to reach out to you for a review. They are coming out with new equipment in the next coming months
I see they have a new "made in north america" bar.
@BasementBrandon I was talking to the guy who heads the innovation program. He gave me a small preview of what is coming. He also told me they need to do a lot of catching up to the other companies. . I am an old fan of York. So I was glad to hear that
@@BasementBrandon they also have a bad azz gym for employees they walked me through.
Tell Mr. Innovation they can start by bringing back production to the usa.
@davefile3943 that's what they said. Not everything but somethings will be built in US. Just about every company has things built overseas now anyway
