Loved it!!! Your intro are just amazing. I would suggest to use the Bola, then dig the area maybe you're lucky. Probably the search up top is good but it could be better to go in the other side and swim to the other continent. Thanks for the videos
Wow. This game is pretty amazing. They advertised it as an old school adventure book and they nailed it. I just picked up a copy from the publisher. While I wait for it I will continue to cheer you on!
Hey Daniel! Glad you were able to find something you might enjoy. I’ve had a ton of fun with this game and it isn’t leaving my collection anytime soon. Lots of adventure, exploring, puzzles and the unknown to discover!
48:40 From the Rules: If a mandatory action [white icon with red border] can be seen on a Terrain card, players whose figures arrive onto that card must immediately take it (collectively if applicable), unless it can no longer be taken.
Read the reviews watched the videos, and the game seemed like a game I would love. Backed the Kickstarter when the white box came out. Played the game for two days. Hated every minute of it. Kept hoping It would get better for me and it never did. I think the game is either you love it or hate it and not much in between. For me it was like I was stuck at the card catalog at the library and all I wanted to do was go exploring and go find a good book.
Hey Johnny! Thanks for sharing your experience. The game does a great job at telling a story based on the choices/strategy you put together along the way. The journey for me for is more exciting than the destination. Cheers!
Totally agree. I've given the first curse 2 plays now. Spent probably 20 hours and hated it 80% of the time. I loved gamebooks in my youth and played a lot of rpgs. The real kicker for me here is the total lack of story, just events leading to not much. Having to find cards constantly just ruined the flow for me, so disjointed. Grabbing a gamebook so much more entertaining than mucking around with cards and awful mechanics. I also think many people would cheat the game, and just start avoiding bad events, as the game can be brutal... So in essence the game becomes pretty pointless, just look through the cards, no story... grab a book?!
I need to get back into this. I only have the base box for classic edition so just three curses.... but I think i can get at least forbidden sanctuary easily.
Hey Adam! Have another look at the treasure map. I don’t think it applies to just *any* location with a ‘dig’ action. Rather it acts a bit like a hidden number - you need to find the terrain card that looks like the illustration on the map, then you can add that terrain card’s number to the number on the map and reveal a new card (which will hopefully have some treasure on it!) When you found that life-jacket, you could have combined it with the other “clothing” item you had - not only would this increase your pips on the combined item (up to the max of six) but it would have left you a spare slot for another item. Hint: you’ll want a spare slot if you catch some food! I think you should use your new spade though to dig that location you are on, saving you two card draws. It did seem insane that you got into the Forbidden area on pretty much your first action! I don’t have this expansion so can’t give any hints about what might be down there! I don’t think you should cross over to the main continent just yet, although it looks easy enough to get back. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Andy! Thanks for the feedback. So many options and decisions. You're correct about trying to find the area with the watermarked area on the treasure map. This will increase the odds I've found the right place. For combining items, that certainly crossed my mind. :) I haven't wanted to do that just yet but I can assure you it's top of mind. I'm very tempted to dig in the space I'm in with the spade! I've never played this curse before so I was just as shocked when I realized I seemed to have found it right away. There's got to be a lot more to this story once I'm inside. Finding one secret of six was huge. Hope to find the rest soon. Thanks for the input on whether I should cross or not yet. That's a tough one. Seems like it would be best to explore around the area to ensure I get anything related to the Sanctuary I can! I think? Hard to say! See you in the next one ;D
IMHO you should totally hunt, then make a shovel and dig. Here is why :D My attempt at decoding the riddle at 52:46 results in tile: ?41 , You are standing on tile 241! Snake icon is for "hundreds" place (not yet seen) Spiders icon is for "tens" place 4 Butterflies is the "ones" place 1 There are 6 traps associated with the number 4, which is the eyeball icon. 312 (north) is evenly divisible by 4, and 312 was a trap.
@@RollingSolo From the "Secret of the Sanctuary" card. "Hundreds of Snakes, Dozens of Spiders, Less than ten Butterflies." Of course I might be seeing things that are not there, I did recently do the Too Many Bones riddles :D I Don't think this game is for me (too mean, and I have wave2 Tainted Grail coming someday) but I'm *really* enjoying your playthrough!! I hope we get to see it through to the end.
Ah! Good catch there. I plan to play this through to the end. No matter what end that is. Death is as much a possibility as success! Aiming for the latter. 🤣 haha
Loving this!! I always thought of getting this one but I never did, now I'm starting to want to get it again! You should totally hunt, dig and then go west :)
That North card does have a resource just not one you can access yet since you haven't gotten the card, since you are mentioning tips to see on the card, weird plants and stuff can be used by certain cards. As a single player you have roughly 16 inventory item slots by combining items with similar tags, 4 sets of 4.
This game looks really cool. Do you know if their offering 7th Continent stuff with the 7th Citidel kick starter coming up, if so I'll get it with that, if not I'll get this off Amazon or their website or something. The only thing that stops me a little, is I have heard from several of my friends that its frequent that you get stuck in certain spots.
Hey Cheddah! Actually they have been releasing Kickstarter expansions and content via their Serious Poulp online store. More coming as well listed there. Part of the puzzle is deciphering the curse and it’s also part of the fun of discovering it. If you like a puzzle or connecting the dots than this is a game you might be interested in!

Backed it. Sold it. Rebought it. This video prompted me to get it back out and give it a go. Thanks for the great videos.
Hey! That's quite the cycle haha Glad to hear the video inspired you to check it out again! :D
This video was awesome! I feel like I could jump right into the game without reading the rules. Can’t wait for the next one!

Thanks! Looking forward to the next one myself. Cheers!
39:35 The disallow sign does not only mean that there are no resources but additional forbids crafting an item and creating a fire.
Good point! Worth mentioning 😄
