I loved your comment about the beauty of giving a quilt to a non quilter! The reality is they don’t care about our mistakes, they care that we bought enough of them to make them a quilt.
Wonderful tutorial. Loved how friendly you are. It’s like listening to a friend. Couldn’t help having a chuckle when you spoke about quilting essentials including a good bra! Sending much love from Scotland 🏴💕
I really enjoyed watching you quilt on your sit down long arm machine. Your quilting is beautiful! I enjoy the humor in your videos and all the insights you share. I’ve learned another technique from you - facing a quilt instead of binding it. I’m going to try this!
Hello Anna & G your wanna be quilter here cracking up at your lost scissors joke. Btw that quilt is beautiful and I agree your sissy will love it. Diana
You had me in stitches!! Thanks for the binding tutorial and for showing the quilting on the back of your sister's quilt. She's going to love it cause YOU made it!!
That’s so beautiful. I’ve never seen a machine like that. Your beehive is a wonderful place of peace and joy. Blowing me away marvelling at the size and all your beautiful creations. 💖💖🇦🇺
Anna, you are a hoot!! Love how you don't take yourself too serious and you have so much fun in your honey bee cave!!! Wish i lived closer to you to have a cup of Joe with you & learn more tips from you!But this is great i just learned how to face a quilt and love the end result!!!!
Can't stop smiling......FINALLY a down-to-earth video on how to use fusible batting! And in a setting with about as much room as 99 percent of us are used to. When watching a video, and trying learn a new technique, I want the surrounding to be 'real' and not in a big studio with TONS of space, so that I can relate to it! So thanks so much.....I watched and I learned! I will be going back to this site when I need to know how to do something ( which is very often)!
Your videos are both informative and bring much joy and laughter!! I loved going up to the beehive and seeing all your beautiful wallhangings!! Thank you for bringing a bright spot in my day!!! I love your sense of humor!
I love your videos especially traveling the road. I retired early and my kids told me that I can never die due to the fact that I have WAY TOO MANY quilts to get made and ideas galore.
Thanks, that was so informative both the Sweet sixteen and the facing edge to your lovely quilt. I like your relaxed style of passing on your skills. Have fun!
Thank you so much for your vlogs! I have been binge-watching and I'm almost caught up which will make me very sad! I have only been quilting for about 2 years and have learned so much from watching you. My husband enjoys watching your trips and thinks G lives the life! I went to Paducah last spring and loved it! Hoping you will be able to make the trip soon. We are in the process of finishing our basement and I love to see all your organization ideas from the beehive. Thanks!
Thank you so much...G laughed when I read you comment...he is living the life for sure, lol. At the end of this month I will be launch a specific organization Bee Hive update as we get ready for the stitching cruise....yippeee!
Lovely video Ann. Love your work, and thank you for taking the time to video your quilting and backing techniques. I love the option of not having the traditional binding. You have made a beautiful quilt for your sister, and I am sure she will love it.
Wow! So happy to see this video. I just bought my 1st Hobbs fusible and as a newbie, but totally enamored, quilter I needed direction! Now I feel confident I can pull this off - Thanks Anna!! Love the new binding option too. 😀❤
First time watcher & subscribed! Great video filled with such relaxed, humorous instruction, that by the end I was so surprised to have learned so much! ...The method for sandwiching with fusible batting (watching you open the package and spread it out will help me feel more confident using it), how an iron board is better than the floor (I’m a nurse with an aging body, too!), quilting using the Sweet 16 (I’m considering quilt machine options), simple chalk marks as guide-lines, using a ruler to quilt (any old ruler), the faced binding (this was an huge unexpected gem since i had already planned to use this technique for my current quilt and wasn’t sure how), braless for the free-motion flow haha ...and the reminder that non-Quilter’s will think it’s amazing no matter how imperfect we may think our stitching is! Looking forward to more!
Your videos are so enjoyable ♥ Love your cheerfulness ♥ The facing really does give the quilt an awesome look. Think this would look super on placemats too. Thank you for inviting us into your Bee Hive ♥ Your design wall looks amazing too.
I thought I left you a comment. I must have dreamed it! I love that you're back in your hive and teaching me new things! I love the iron cleaner! Just ordered it. My iron really needs cleaning and I hate that job. And, while you're on my tv set, I'm hand stitching binding for a lap quilt for my niece for Christmas. I'll have to try your "new-to-me" binding method. I have several other lap quilts to make, so there's plenty opportunity. I also ordered the book, so I can look at it. I have the Babylock Tiara and not as good as you stitching, but I keep trying. Thanks for showing your quilting process. Keep these lessons coming! Please. :)
oh...love me some bee hive time! you will love how easy cleaning the iron is. Practice makes not perfect but a bit better, LOL thank you for stopping by!
Wow again... OK, Anna I love you and your fresh ideas and methods.... Never new about this mock binding method.... I'm loving it.... Will use it on my next small quilt... Your my favorite quilting You Tuber 😊
I always enjoy your videos, this one made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the tips and new ideas. Love how you use the rulers you already have in quilting. Never heard of facing...love the look and learned something new.
More, more, more! Anna, I am so happy to be in the bee hive! I love it and I love your tutorials! I always learn something while I am being entertained. You are so funny and make quilting fun. I am going to try that facing technique. I see precious Enzo-he looks content being in the bee hive too. Looking forward to future tutorials. Thanks, Pam. Oh, and I hope you found your scissors! Ha!Ha!
Great tutorial! I've seen this edging at quilt shows, but never knew how it was done,,,,I guess I assumed it was turned inside out. Thanks for showing me something new!
I love your tutorials. I have the sweet 16 sit down and you make it less intimidating for me...Recouping from neck surgery and hoping to get back to my machines in a couple weeks. :)
I’m so excited to watch you quilt on your Sweet Sixteen! I have the Babylock Tiara which is the same machine. You inspire me to get at it. It’s been intimidating me for 4 years.😬😳
Peggy Young, I have a Tiara. The first model! I didn't get going on it until I had had it 4 years. Now I'm having a blast! I'm not a great free motion quilter, but I keep trying! And trying is better than letting it sit there (especially after paying for it)! Good luck!
Peggy Young Funny you say that. After watching Anna and her DIL make a baby blanket, my sister and I ordered the same batting! It was 30% off at that time. I’ve used it and it made life so much easier. I stocked up. That’s why everyone is getting a lap quilt for Christmas. 😃.
Your sewing room has such a warm, positive, and cozy feeling to it! I love all the work areas and the comfortable seating. 🙂 It would be hard not to spend all day in a space like that!
Oh Anna you make me laugh ..wished you had videoed the unpicking of the circle stencil...that’s the kind of thing I do 😂🤣...your sister going to love your quilt and ghee I loved your sewing machine quilt and once again I have learnt another technique. Thanks for inviting us to the beehive ..the sweet 16 is awesome...I always enjoy spending time with you 😘
I Loved the Video!! Your Tips are Right what I Needed! I like the facing idea instead of a traditional binding, especially for an art quilt. My husband used to be a cartographer as well!
The facing idea is interesting. My mother has never put binding on any quilt. After it's quilted (she hand quilts), she turns in 1/4" of the backing and 1/4" of the front and quilts 1/8" from the edge. You just have to make sure your quilting is about half an inch from the sides so you can turn those edges in. I've been looking at the Sweet 16, but bought a motorcycle instead! 😅 Thank you for a great video
Now I see you have one of the same books I love the most! I actually have this book on my bed side table right now and love this quilt so much! I have been practicing my Sashiko stitching and reading everything I can on Sashiko, and the history and we really have a wonderful collection of books at my Hilo Library. Honestly, I think we are all more creative braless and in our comfy jamies! Like a modern day house dress😊
Thank you so much for the demo, you are such a happy, smiley lady. I would love a HQ Sweet Sixteen machine, but too pricey for me at the moment. Still, I can dream whilst I save for one. Your Sister will adore your wall hanging.xx
Great video! I just used this “Invisible Binding” technique on my wall hanging. I was watching an old Quilting Arts Show. The guest was Sarah Ann Smith. She said to sew the top and bottom first. That way when you look at your quilt hanging from the side, you’re going to see a “clean edge” from top to bottom. Something to think about. Enjoy your day.🐝
This is a great video. I'm Kris from New Orleans, Louisiana. I haven't seen a facing on a quilt. I like it. I am going to buy this Paradise Stitched book. I need it. I want to buy a longarm. So I am watching how different each one is. I love the sweet sixteen
Thank you for joining us! you'll love the book...almost like one of those coffee table books with beautiful photos. The Sweet 16 is great for my aging body, lol
Tiene un precioso cuarto de costura. La colcha le ha quedado genial y el acolchado que a mi me da tanto miedo usted lo hace parecer facil. Lo hace muy bien. El bateo que utiliza se pega con la plancha?
Hi anna its Terry from new Jersey. I just thought that I would let you know that I got the q snap in the 8 by 8 an the 6 by 6 an I also got the cloth to go round the outside. Thanks for your help 🙂🙃
Anna, first time to catch you on Utube! I'm a SD and longarm quilter, quilt instructor as well. I've never seen a faced quilt done, very well explained! You are right, it does give the quilt a different look! Thanks, I'll be back! How often are you on?
Thanks for watching...we try to post a video at least once a week but when we are on the road that goes up to 2-3 times a week...so much of the quilting world to share!
Anna, you are hilarious! First day a good support bra, second day no bra. I love seeing you in the command center! I love the sewing machine quilt and you did a great job on that hexi -quilt . I have to try that way of binding.
Another bad thing about Asthma is that new materials are treated with Formaldehyde and should be washed before use. I get sick just walking around stores with new clothes and matrials. Your quilting is beautiful and I love your craft room.
Anna! I've been going back and watching your earlier videos. Why did you give/sell your Sweet Sixteen to your friend? I watched the video where you explained why you got a sit-down machine, and you seem happy with it here. What happened to make you go back to domestic stitching? I'm thinking of buying a sit-down quilting machine. Thanks! Love you videos. ❤🥰
It was a combination of space and also how much I was using it. I realized that I’d rather piece and quilt the occasional quilt but otherwise didn’t want to spend the amount of time to become a wonderful quilter😊 the sit down was better on the body ❤️
Anna, I just adore your videos and tips thank you! Do you use the fusible batting when you big stitch quilt too? How does it needle? Btw, three stitching pillows complete for my girlfriends’ Christmas this year! Woohoo
love your video. can i ask what the name of iron is love it . I have the SD 16 but mine is made to sew with machine in the same position as a reg machine. .i haven't seen anyone else with one mine .new to using it .so glad I found your video .
Beautiful wall hanging. And I love the facing idea! How great is that! Didn't you have a longarm machine before the Sweet Sixteen? Do you like this better?
Thank you! I did have a long arm...but as I have aged I found leaning to load a quilt and standing was hard on my back so I decided to give the Sweet 16 a try and love it!
Loved this video. Can you tell me the name of your iron & where I can purchase one. Also, are you happy with it or would you recommend another brand. Thanks Anna
my ironing best friend is a Panasonic cordless that I got on Amazon... www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NI-L70SRW-Cordless-Stainless-Soleplate/dp/B000P6CRLO/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1521039159&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=panasonci+cordless+iron I am so happy with it I may have to buy a back up if there is a run on them, LOL
Beautiful quilting! And I love the facing idea! Also, is your dog a golden doodle? We have on and he plays the exact same way. They're so goofy and lovable! Thank you for the video and happy quilting!
Thank you so much for sharing this one. I still can't decide between the HQ Sweet Sixteen and APQS George. Your sister will LOVE it! Speaking of sisters, you two are like me and mine, we look nothing alike but are full sisters LOL! My younger daughter doesn't look like me but looks identical to her. My brother's first born daughter looks just like me LOL! Love how our Hapa genetics are full of wonderful surprises ^ _ ^ ... LMBO! I did that! [sewed my ruler]. TFS! and looking forward to more
I loved your comment about the beauty of giving a quilt to a non quilter! The reality is they don’t care about our mistakes, they care that we bought enough of them to make them a quilt.

Hello Anna & G your wanna be quilter here cracking up at your lost scissors joke. Btw that quilt is beautiful and I agree your sissy will love it. Diana
Oh I am with you...every time I see a spectacular quilt I am a wanna be quilter, LOL
I really love the look of that facing. Great ideas. Thank you, Anna.
You had me in stitches!! Thanks for the binding tutorial and for showing the quilting on the back of your sister's quilt. She's going to love it cause YOU made it!!
she did love it!!!

wouldn't that be great...a cuppa at the Sisters Coffee Co...my favorite! you just can't take yourself so seriously...life should be light hearted!

You had me at fusible batting and cordless iron. Then quilt facing...........mind blown. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thanks for stopping by😀
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have three quilts that need binding and now I know how I'm going to do it. Anna, you are a dream!!!
we aim to please!
I love your videos especially traveling the road. I retired early and my kids told me that I can never die due to the fact that I have WAY TOO MANY quilts to get made and ideas galore.
your children are so smart!!!
You are a PRO! I'm hook with your videos. Excellent! Beautiful! Thank you to you and your husband, oh and Enso.
Thank you...Enzo sends a sweet bark, lol
Great way to finish a quilt! Used to do facings like that when sewing garments so that curved neck seams would lay flat!
I have some clothing patterns that I have never tried...now I have the skill!
I love that - 'the best thing is it's going to a non-quilter - they don't know' So true - bless their clueless little hearts!
ROFLOL...
Thanks, that was so informative both the Sweet sixteen and the facing edge to your lovely quilt. I like your relaxed style of passing on your skills. Have fun!
a girl just wants to have fun!

she loves it! Thank you for taking the time to watch. I love having options for finishing a quilt.
Love the facing finishing for a quilt! That is how I always finished a neck or armhole facing when sewing garments great idea!
I was never a garment sewer so this should be a piece of cake for you!
AHHH I just finished a quilt with binding that I kept saying to myself 'this doesn't need binding'. NOW there is an alternative.... great tutorial!
some quilts just lend themselves to a facing finish!
Oh Anna I love your sense of humor. 😂 your wall hanging is beautiful I love the colors and pattern.
pretty good for making it up...my sister loves it!
Adorable video! I love the information and the humor!
Wow! So happy to see this video. I just bought my 1st Hobbs fusible and as a newbie, but totally enamored, quilter I needed direction! Now I feel confident I can pull this off - Thanks Anna!! Love the new binding option too. 😀❤
you most definitely can do this!!!

it looks really good on certain types of quilt designs :)
I love your tutorials. I have the sweet 16 sit down and you make it less intimidating for me...Recouping from neck surgery and hoping to get back to my machines in a couple weeks. :)
take it slow and easy!
Wonderful video. Thank you for the quilting tips. Love your wall hanging.
Good luck!
you have the power!!!
You are so right. I have the original Tiara too. Just ordered some fusible batting to try using it to sandwich the quilt. Then I plan to get started.
Peggy Young Funny you say that. After watching Anna and her DIL make a baby blanket, my sister and I ordered the same batting! It was 30% off at that time. I’ve used it and it made life so much easier. I stocked up. That’s why everyone is getting a lap quilt for Christmas. 😃.

If it had a fridge and bed I might never leave😂
Thank you for giving us a tutorial on facing. This is a new technique to me 😊

The quilt is lovely & your sister is going to be excited to receive it.
Oh Anna you make me laugh ..wished you had videoed the unpicking of the circle stencil...that’s the kind of thing I do 😂🤣...your sister going to love your quilt and ghee I loved your sewing machine quilt and once again I have learnt another technique. Thanks for inviting us to the beehive ..the sweet 16 is awesome...I always enjoy spending time with you 😘
well....the language I was using might not have been appropriate, lol...I was so worried I would have to break my circle maker! She loved the quilt!
Quilt Roadies 😂🤣
I really love your videos... So informative and ENTERTAINING. 😂😂
I'm sure your sister is gonna love that wallhanging.
she loved it!!! Thanks for watching!
😅 Thank you for a great video
well...a motorcycle is fun :)
@@quiltroadies1695 mmm, maybe I can strap a Featherweight to my motorcycle. Lol
So happy I found your vids.
Now I see you have one of the same books I love the most! I actually have this book on my bed side table right now and love this quilt so much! I have been practicing my Sashiko stitching and reading everything I can on Sashiko, and the history and we really have a wonderful collection of books at my Hilo Library. Love your videos and adventures; thanks so much for sharing. Kisses to pupper, too! 😘💐
thank you so much...Enzo loves his quilter friends!

I Really Enjoyed your Program today -Thanks for Sharing !!!!

I like the instructions about facing. It’s a finish I like
works for certain looks of quilts
Too funny Anna. I'm a hand quilter and misplaced my snips and had accidentally quilted them between the layers.
OMG...would have loved to watch you figure that one out!

Hi anna its Terry from new Jersey. I just thought that I would let you know that I got the q snap in the 8 by 8 an the 6 by 6 an I also got the cloth to go round the outside. Thanks for your help 🙂🙃
Thanks Anna, great facing technique. 😀

Thank you for sharing!!! You're so fun. . and glad you found your scissors!! (HA!)
LOL...gotta have fun!
Anna, first time to catch you on Utube! I'm a SD and longarm quilter, quilt instructor as well. I've never seen a faced quilt done, very well explained! You are right, it does give the quilt a different look! Thanks, I'll be back! How often are you on?

thank you!!! every day brings a different decision of dress , LOL
I love watching your tutorials! Do you love your HQ Sweet Sixteen?
Very much!
Another bad thing about Asthma is that new materials are treated with Formaldehyde and should be washed before use. I get sick just walking around stores with new clothes and matrials. Your quilting is beautiful and I love your craft room.
oh I hear ya....
Beautiful!!! A dryer sheet does the exact same thing 😁
Oooh i like the facing idea!
it is sooooo cool
Wow. Thanks. Very beautiful quilt. ❤
so loved your video.
GREAT tutorial. TY Anna!
Anna, I just adore your videos and tips thank you! Do you use the fusible batting when you big stitch quilt too? How does it needle? Btw, three stitching pillows complete for my girlfriends’ Christmas this year! Woohoo
WOW...you go girl!!! what a great girlfriend! I do use fusible batting and so far have not had a problem :)

Thanks Anna

Beautiful quilting! And I love the facing idea! Also, is your dog a golden doodle? We have on and he plays the exact same way. They're so goofy and lovable! Thank you for the video and happy quilting!
Thank you! No Enzo is all poodle no doodle :) he is a hoot.
TFS! and looking forward to more
have fun with your decision! and thank you for watching the videos!
I REALLY should proof before hitting enter LMBO!
I need to try the fusible batting.
Game changer for my back!
