Week by week you grow more proficient. A true sign of craftsmanship.

Your videos have been really informative and have helped me. I only trim my own horse, so, I have taken the time to teach him to stand. Flies , bees, and some other things do distract him, but he is finally to a point where he will just keep pulling if he needs to put the hoof down. I give him that, then when he settles, a minute or two, we get back to it.
Sometimes giving them a chance to "reset" can make a big difference in their attitude. You probably already know that. Just sharing. Be safe!!!

Great and informative video. Thanks Caleb, I’m sure RUclips doesn’t offer much compensation but I can say that your videos really help me understand the world I otherwise would not be aware of. I think I would look into armor ie carbon fiber protective layering that is sewn underneath or between the leather for protection.

Well done Caleb, and kudos to all the farriers out there, it's a very dangerous job, horses are strong animals, and I love horses so much, but still wouldn't be a farrier, a very demanding and backbreaking job, thank you so much Caleb for your excellent videos, and the wonderful job you do for these beautiful horses, take care.👍💙🐎

I can see that you have a dangerous and physically taxing job. Take good care of yourself.
I'm glad that you were able to sedate that horse the last time you had to re-shoe him. Does I owner administer the sedation from the vet?

How often do most horses get trimmed by you? Here where I am (NS) my farrier wants to trim every 6 weeks.

I don't want to sound like a know it all but when i deal with dry hoofs like that i seize it with a small blow torch it helps a lot

Are there any types of wrist protection for farriers out there for situations like what happened when she jerked away while nailing? It seems so dangerous, and I’ve often wondered if there are any protection options for farriers to shield against nails like that.

The best protection is for the owners to get responsible and teach their horses to stand quietly. With that option out the window, farrier s have to protect themselves some way. Very uncomfortable in the heat of summer.
My best to all good farriers.

I noticed that you didn’t burn in the shoes. Is there a reason for that?

This is what we call cold shoeing we don't burn these. Sometimes a horse won't take a burn so we do it this way
