I thing what scares me most about the backrooms as a concept are the levels; not the entities, atleast not outside of a mechanical view, but the extraordinary sense of dread when you ask yourself, were these houses, corridors, and cities built? someone or something at some point made this, there's moss, it's moist and destroyed, as if it once stood up like ours. The entities help to some extent in also asking what they are - they could be just things that inhabit, or consequence of whatever caused the backrooms, or worst case scenario, they're people.
Imagine you can meet strangers in the backrooms, it would be sad if you and they spent so much time together find a way out and talking, it would be sad if u wake up and never see them again.
Well (I'm not an expert in the backrooms) but it actually might be possible to meet another real person in there if you get EXTREMELY lucky. Considering that they're really big, it still might be unlickely to find someone in the backrooms

Its actually terrifying to think that even outside the backrooms, you can't be sure you're free unless you see other people. That means if you escape in a place that's desolate, you'd probably lose your mind before someone found you. For those of you who dont know, the Lost ending gets triggered when you enter Sub level 37. When you reach the bottom of the steps, look through the door way, if there are perfectly straight lines of water then go back up. All water is randomly generated but sub level 37 has the same water formations everytime
