This trade signals that the Lakers have given up on winning with LeBron and are moving towards a new era. LeBron and Luka both need the ball in their hands, both can't play without the ball, and both don't play defence, so they can't win together. LeBron has a no trade clause but he's going to be retiring soon, if the Lakers can get the necessary pieces together they can target Giannis in free agency of 2027, a Luka (28 y/o) Giannis (32 y/o) pairing in LA with the right supporting casts wins multiple championships and is the kind of blockbuster move the Lakers are known to make
I think Lebron has been wanting to be the 2 for a while. AD was great, but he didn’t have that factor about him that put him over Lebron as far as the ONE on the court. With Luka it’s not even a question. But I am curious to see how Lebron adapts

I wouldn’t be surprised if Luka uses this for the rest of his career. Luka loves finding reasons to want to own you in the court. Mavs are going to have some rough seasons in its future.
Mavericks fan. This was an organizational decision (GM, Coach, Ownership). Dallas have developed Luka for 7 years and made a simple conclusion. The All-NBA production (28-8-8 for his career) doesn't outweigh the heliocentric ball-dominant style and professionalism issues that appear close to unsolvable (complaining to the refs in the Finals, lack of conditioning every season). It's crazy, but they decided they want to be the 2008 - 2010 Lakers and just dominant teams with an outrageous frontcourt that scores, rebounds and blocks everything (AD & Lively / Pau & Bynum) and clutch shooting (Kyrie and Klay / Kobe).
Exactly. They want to win now. Nico knew who he wanted and saved a couple hundred million in the process. Max Christie improves the perimeter D while AD helps wall off the inside. The ball is in Kyrie’s hands everyone gets to play with it now. Mavs have shooting, a very good big man, and can now play D and don’t have to pay $345 mil to a 260 lb. point guard
Jimmy Buckets is looking like a genius right now. It's better to force your way out of a bad situation and call your own shot, than to be blindsided and traded out of a good situation without being informed about it beforehand.
I saw this on my homepage and was SHOCKED. Luka must have indicated that he had doubts about staying with the Mavs long term. There's no other reason for why they'd trade a mid-20s superstar for a 30-something all star. It reminds me of when I traded Dikembe for Kobe on 2K2.
Luka is great and all, but something I've been saying since kyrie came to the Mavericks. Kyrie had a lot to do with them going to that championship, while everyone in the media gave most of the credit to Luka.
Although it was the ABA the Virginia Squires traded 23 yr old Dr.J. ( who had averaged 29 pts and 14 rebounds in his first two years ) for George Carter .
They got the pieces to do it because they kept a first and have players like Reeves to sell. They will definitely get a big. I could see like Ayton going there . Not that he’s amazing but he would help.

MOST SHOCKING TRDE IN NBA history needed a matching MOST SHOCKING PODCAST LOOK
What a great podcast, thank god for RUclips . We would never have such shows like this even 5 years ago.
They’re frustrated with Luka getting hurt😂😂😂😂😂
*AD got hurt while playing as himself on 2K*
We only have 4 real legacy sports leagues in the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. By virtue then, this is one of the biggest moves in American Sports history.
It makes zero basketball sense. This sounds like something personal between Luka and the Mavs owner.
Why doesn’t it make sense 😂😂😂
Why act dumb?
It makes blatantly obvious basketball sense.
Yes, Mavs told Doncic to go on a diet, Doncic says “watch me eat this burger”.
New owners
Mavs ownership should immediately be investigated. Worst trade of all time
Need Dave stern back
LOOL Anthony Davis is in the TOP 75 of NBA PLAYERS ALL TIME 😅
@@Just2GdTobiTrue Okay? He’s about to be 32 and the Mavs traded Luka Doncic for him. Foh😂
no you're an idiot 🤡🤡
This trade signals that the Lakers have given up on winning with LeBron and are moving towards a new era. LeBron and Luka both need the ball in their hands, both can't play without the ball, and both don't play defence, so they can't win together. LeBron has a no trade clause but he's going to be retiring soon, if the Lakers can get the necessary pieces together they can target Giannis in free agency of 2027, a Luka (28 y/o) Giannis (32 y/o) pairing in LA with the right supporting casts wins multiple championships and is the kind of blockbuster move the Lakers are known to make
Except I doubt giannis would go and well I would have said they would never trade him, but after this who knows
I think Lebron has been wanting to be the 2 for a while. AD was great, but he didn’t have that factor about him that put him over Lebron as far as the ONE on the court. With Luka it’s not even a question. But I am curious to see how Lebron adapts
@@TBurr030 exactly, well said. the Brontosaurus wanted AD to take over as no 1, but that is not happening because AD is snake bit with his fragile body. AD want to do it, but his body just not co=operate with his ambitions ===== what will happen now is that Luke will take over No 1 and Bronts will focus on defense more, cutting down his offense rank to no 3 on the floor and upping his defense to no 2 from his current no 4 status on the team. he was no 4 on defense, only because the offense took up all his energy.
DEJA VU. Legendary Kareem Abdul Jabbar was traded at 28 to Lakers after losing in game 7 finals. Bucks felt he was not going to have a long career. 5 NBA titles, 3 MVPs, all time Nba, and immortal lakers showtime era later. Here we go with possible Luka. I am so sick as CLIPPERs fan seeing Lakers being gifted Superstar players in their prime over and over again.
He requested the trade. Stop trying to create a false narrative
Clippers haven't been able to argue that since the rivers cp3 era so chill
Thats why the NBA continues to go the cesspool way MEANWHILE cartoonish clown Adam Silver continues to serve everyone GARBAGE ideas 2 minute quarters, 50 game seasons. Your time is up CLOWN
Nico Harrison makes statement, and all the sudden it's "overweight lazy Luka Doncic" instead of "Clutch 34 PPG all-NBA 1st team" Luka Doncic who just led this squad to the NBA finals. Just STOP. Luka will never be jacked, AND IT MEANS NOTHING.
Mark Cuban never sales the Mavs if Luka was staying. This has been brewing for awhile behind the scenes
u smart but i think he finna open a sports book and he cant own a team kinda the same thing mike rubin did with fanatics and 76ers
That makes sense. Insider trading.
@@cpdagoat1167that’s a good take too I forgot about that
Good take.
The trades make sense if the rumors are true. The only thing that doesn’t make sense is why they didn’t try to get more picks or young assets
It’s because they didn’t want to ruin the lakers roster. Our owners are double agents and must be stopped..
Let me get this right..Mavs said they couldn't rely on Luka...but they can rely on AD
In a weird way, they are lighting fire under Luka to wake the f up!!
so send him to the competition so that if this works Luka can then terrorize us for years?
More like lightning a 🔥 under AD 🍑 😂
Eh, luka still has his reputation and the entire league would walk on glass to get him. Jimmy has made himself a liability
Very true. But Kyrie did fold in the finals..
mcmahon’s talking about luka like he’s robbing a convenience store
I love we got this podcast !
Although it was the ABA the Virginia Squires traded 23 yr old Dr.J. ( who had averaged 29 pts and 14 rebounds in his first two years ) for George Carter .
Lakers have to have another trade in the works ...as a lakers fan I'm here for it
They got the pieces to do it because they kept a first and have players like Reeves to sell. They will definitely get a big. I could see like Ayton going there . Not that he’s amazing but he would help.
I need a panadol after listening to these guys interrupt each other for 45 minutes
Something's fishy about this trade. We don't know what really happened behind the scenes.
Exactly. Can't buy that "he's always out of shape" silly excuse
Exactly, "we traded Jordan because he was playing baseball for a year", makes more sense.
Adam Silver sent the Black SUVs lol
@@TheBossyMangolol exactly. This has Silver all over it. The Lakers are always handed superstars with weak trades. Any other team it would been six first round picks
The nba knows Lakers have to maintain a superstar. They can’t let Lakers go on another drought after LeBron retires.
This was a great deal for Shams to break. Solidified himself if it wasn’t already clear
Mark Cuban tryna figure out how to buy the Mavs back
the kings trading fox is just crazy asf man hes their best player fr the NBA has officially lost it 😮💨😂😂😂💯 these trades are insane
I still feel like people are focusing on the wrong thing. Why was he traded to LA of all places
Bontemps is just beyond insufferable. Can we not replace him with a cardboard cutout or something?
Please
Windy averages 2 hours of sleep this season 😂
And this is why I listen to this podcast because this is so intellectual
F it, Lakers go get Victor W. from San Antonio 😂😂😂
For Bronny and Reeves 😂
I would laugh but this is about the MAVS trading arguably the best player in the league. And talking about LUKA being out of shape is the dumbest excuse to trade…… seriously. ZION is still with the Pelicans think about that
@@pzagorski 😭🤣🤣
I'm glad you dropped today. Respect to the hoop collective
Still eagerly awaiting the day i see a hoop collective member pick up a basketball
Mavs are about to get that Suns treatment up close and personal. 😂
Thank you for this pod guys^^
Luka will be a real Lakers legend. Let’s find out in 2030.
If he hasn’t eaten himself out of the league
LeBald is furious 😂
I like how these dudes have slightly heated, disagreements but still, respectful
lol Windy “They had to make room for Chris wood!” 😂😂
My youngest brother called me at 2 in the morning to tell me about this trade. We live in south Florida mind you lmao does not concern us at all, but still a crazy trade.😂😂
Brian Windy the voice of the Association
It will go down as the most lopsided in trade history. Next 5 years Mavs would be a lottery team with Injuries to aging superstar AD and Kyrie. While Lakers celebrating a championship. Mavs should have included Gafford and PJ Washington too.
Agree. Irving will leave after the season. AD will leave in 2 years. This is beyond dumb. It feels rigged.
