    Very Nice. I really like the design of the whole thing. Makes me want to build one. If you had to build another one, what changes or improvements would you make?

      I know it's been 3 years since you commented, but the answer is do a compression test. That is the end all be all answer to anyone ever asking about the condition of an engine. Everything else is relatively easy to fix on a 2 stroke. If that is good and cylinders are within 10-15% and over 100psi (excellent condition would be 110-130 but unlikely on an old ski) you are going to get many more seasons out of it.

      @timlong1462 Thanks. Still good info. I bought a boat and a ski but the project sat for the last three years and I just sold the hole mess to set at someone else's house. LOL. Thanks again and have a great day.

    Did you have to build a spoon to prevent cavitation

    It appears that you use regular wood. Are you not worried about rot in the future? Great builds. Really enjoy the videos!

      Treated wood will turn that aluminum to powder. It will happen eventually, you wont be able to stop it. i know because it happened to me.

    What do you use to fasten the jet ski hull into the boat? Do you use screws or bolts through the boat into the jet ski?

    • @scuba5904
      @scuba5904  7 лет назад

      Rob Fite I use stainless screws and 3M 5200

    • @robfite6909

      How much would you charge to put a motor and pump in a boat? If no linkage was connected or anything just install the ski in the boat. Like if I brought you a new ski and new boat.

      I would like to know what you would charge someone just to set the motor and have ready to go and me finish the inside?

    • @scuba5904
      @scuba5904  6 лет назад +2

      bent rodguy the customer supplies the boat and ski, I just provide the labor. The material cost was in the neighborhood of 2k and I had about 85hrs in this build at 30hr.

      do you have a website or facebook, im assuming you do this full time ,,,,i have 2001 yamaha 1200,,, just looking for a good hull,,, what hull do u reccomend and what kind of deposit,, im very interested in getting you to do one?

    • @scuba5904
      @scuba5904  6 лет назад +2

      bent rodguy yes, that includes the stereo and amps, new batteries, new seats and mounts, new bildge pumps all new hardware, stainless screws and components etc etc. It all adds up, I've built 7 of these with 4 more on the way. Everything is new. The only thing used is the boat and ski.

    How bad is cavitation?

    • @scuba5904
      @scuba5904  6 лет назад

      Jake Winsor no cavitation, built in spoon swell in front of the pump.

    • @jakewinsor2740
      @jakewinsor2740 6 лет назад

      Is it shown anywhere? Do you run through fast water? I have Class 2 + rapids and wondering how that build would handle them. Thanks!

    • @scuba5904
      @scuba5904  6 лет назад +1

      Jake Winsor class 2 may be a little rough for this build, if you look close at the pics, you can see where I shaped the bottom of the boat to conform to the "v" of the jetski hull, so it tapers from flat to v shape about 3 ft. from the pump opening. That helps keep air out of the pump. But I can't honestly say how it would do in rapids, we don't have any around here, I can only measure against rough water and the boat does fine in up to 1 footers.

    It seems you epoxied the Jet Drive into the Aluminium Hull. The good projekt was a little spoiled by doing so, the perfect solution would have been to weld an aluminium frame into the hull that takes the jet drive by bolting it in with a rubber gasket.
    The rest of the projekt: Well done
