Gunnar Andersson never got called up to play for Sweden despite scoring 190 goals in 220 games for Marseille. He died nearly 50 years ago and he is still their all time leading goal scorer.
Sebastiano Rossi not Included in this video? He spent 12 years with AC Milan and won numerous trophies (Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Uefa Champions league, and Intercontinental cup), and never played a single cap as a goalkeeper with Italy National Team...
Paolo Di Canio wasn't eligible for the italian national team, because of his fascist ideology. Italy condemns fascism in his constitution, it's illegal to show signs of it in Italy. It would only make sense to not have him play for the national side.
@@BoltActionJokerMaxi You love a man who follows a criminal ideology and who would kill hundreds of thousands of people if he had the chance? And that's not an exaggeration that is what happened when the fascist ruled in Italy.
Brilliant. Should send this to every premier league team. I can understand di Canio. But Jimmy Case, Dagleish said he was the best centre to play for Liverpool.
"Di Canio is a self-confessed fascist with a tattoo of Mussolini" and you can't figure out why he was never given a cap? Representing your country is more than just about how good you are, it's that you are deemed fit to be an ambassador for your country on an international stage. Therefore someone of Di Canio's ilk is clearly unfit. A similar decision has obviously been made about Benzema in recent times: that his off-field actions have made him ineligible to *represent* France. If an English footballer happened to be an active member of the EDL and had a swastika tattoo, clearly he should also not be considered for the national team no matter his talent. Actions and beliefs are important when you're being placed in a position with symbolic as well as actual importance.
Daniel Donovan That's the same EDL, where it's leader the convicted criminal "Tommy Robinson" stood down and left because it was becoming too extreme, racist and more violent?
That rule About non-domestic players didn't exist anymore in Beckenbauer's time. Paul Breitner, Günter Netzer and Karl-Heinz Schnellinger all played for Germany while not playing in Germany
Shout out to Dagoberto, a former São Paulo player who won 3 straight league titles being the key man, but he obviously wasn't capped because... 2006-08 Brazil had "decent" strikers. As I like to say to my friends, if Dagoberto was born 10 years later, winning those 3 titles nowadays, he would EASILY become the 1st choice for Brazil. "Oh but you guys have G. Jesus, Firmino, etc." yeah that's true, but whenever Dagoberto played, he needed only 1 chance to prove he's worth it. I guess he'd need only 1 chance for Brazil too.
For Australian players, you could include Craig Johnson and David Seal. Johnson choose England over Australia, but was never picked by England. Had he chosen Australia, you could argue Australia would have qualified for more World Cups prior to 2006. David Seal was twice top goal scorer in the Australian National Soccer League, and scored 3 goals at the 1991 World Youth Championship representing Australia. At the time Australia had an abundance of strikers at their disposal.
Andrea Barzagli did not play for one of the illustrious sides in Italy until he was 30. He did however play in the UEFA Cup with Palermo at the age of 24.
Danilo from Corinthians who also played for São Paulo never got a call, 2 copa libertadores, 3 brazilian Championships, 2 FIFA world club Cup and several titles in Japan also, way better then most of the players in this list.
No, Danilo fondly nicknamed "The turtle" by brazilian fans. He's a fine footballer, but slow as fuck and his work rate is atrocious, but the sure can pass and kick a ball, nowhere near the ability or talent to be called for the brazilian team.
@@herrerasauro7429 Zidane was just like that, but obviously being more talented. That's why brazilians call Danilo "Zidanilo" so often, because of their similar styles of playing the game.
DEJAN PETKOVIC! Not a single one! He won a champions league, played for real madrid, and became a legend here in brazil for his ability, yet he was never capped for the serbian national team, where he came from, not a single time! Our league is much more difficult than what you gringos think it is, (otherwise it wouldn’t reveal so many talents) and he still managed to play absurdly well for every team he passed.
Nowadays, a cap (I'm assuming that's what you actually meant) simply represents a call-up to your national team in which a player appears in the game played. Back in the late 19th century, uniforms hadn't been officially adopted yet, so international teams were distinguished by different headgear. They received a physical "cap" to wear during the game and it became synonymous with the above definition. As for a cup, or trophy, basically win games and be a good team! X-D :-)
Yep that's the reason! Jansen was left out of the squad for keown that's why he was on holiday in Italy on a bike when he should have been on the bench! Such a waste just like Dean Ashton!
Neither Dario Hubner or Di Canio were 'great' player. Hubner was a good goalscorer for provincial sides, at a time when Italy had a lot of talent. He was just an in the box player, who had a purple patch towards the end of his career. As for Di Canio, he was crap. A crap player who did well in inferior leagues in Scotland and England. Never worthy of the national team.
Di Canio played in England, when Serie A was a superior league. The effect of foreign money and sky tv was only beginning to be felt properly from the mid 00's and onwards. Di Canio played for top clubs in Italy, before his move to scotland, but failed at all of them. Not good enough. In England, fans are mesmerised when they see one dribble. we were brought up with maradona, baggio, mancini, giannini, totti etc etc. He was crap compared to the very top playing the game. Who did he play for at his best? West Ham. Ahhh that immensely decorated club...it is totally fine that you headless sheep are entertained by mediocre conveyor belt shit football. what do you call it? smash bang wallop? But our standards are a little higher when it comes to high level football. That's why the english league is basically all foreign footballers, foreign managers, foreign owners and even foreign owned TV. Your players can't even put three passes together. So before you tell me what is crap and what is not, stop yourself and think....aw yes and then fuck off.
Roz Sa If what you say is true then Italian players must have been REALLY crap in the seventies and eighties when English clubs were winning the European Cup almost every year
English clubs weren't winning european cups 'almost every year'. Most of the early and mid 70's were dominated by German and Dutch clubs with English clubs having success in the late 70's and early 80's. It though definitely wasn't a good period for Italian football, but the national team still picked up a world cup in 1982. Franco Baresi and Bergomi two defenders to pick up a world cup medal had more talent in one toe than any english defender in histroy.
Roz Sa You're so right, Italian players toes are some of the best toes to ever play football. Seriously no other country even comes close to the skill level and sheer untouchable brilliance of Italian football players. Still, English teams had their best ever success before foreign investment so its not quite fair to say they are incapable of success without foreign help and you're right Di Canio was about the level of West Ham United so not top level.
Gunnar Andersson never got called up to play for Sweden despite scoring 190 goals in 220 games for Marseille. He died nearly 50 years ago and he is still their all time leading goal scorer.

Vevxo obviously not because the person who made this video used a player who only managed to play for U21

Dennis Mortimer of Aston Villa. Captained them to the League and European Cup glory. Never won an England cap.
Dan Jones well said. Mortimer should have been capped.

Agree with your comment in many ways but factually speaking the EDL is not a racist organisation nor is it linked in anyway to fascism.
