Describing "Flyer Snapping" While Getting A Tattoo - 2010

  • While doing another comb through my archives, I found two hours of footage containing the entire process of getting my first tattoo. During the process, my friend Josh Gardner and I started talking about coasters and amusement parks. The topic of flying scooters (flyers) came up and we tried to explain to my tattoo artist (Dave Tevenal) what flyers actually are and what snapping is. Please keep in mind that this video was recorded in 2010 during a time when more parks encouraged snapping. Due to more recent versions of the ride being produced by a more modern manufacture, snapping isn't as widely accepted as it once was. I had originally made a time-lapse video of the tattoo being done but removed the video years ago due to some music I used in it. Recorded on a Sony HDR-HD1. Rendered in 60fps and HDR for a smoother, more vivid, playback.

Thanks, Max! I don't remember seeing a version of the ride on the mainland but i do remember riding a nice set at Southport Pleasureland in England before they closed the park. I hope that version found another location.

    Holiday World had Flying Scooters?

Yes. However, I can't remember who made them. They looked different than the classic versions found at Knoebe''s and a few other parks. I haven't been to Holiday World since 2021. I believe they were still there during my visit.

@@SeanFlaharty visited in 2016 and have no clue they had them

@@history_leisure They are kind of hidden from the main rides. Located near the picnic shelters, near the now closed rapids ride.

@@SeanFlaharty fun fact, in a novel I wrote set at Holiday World, that picnic grove is abandoned and they build a new one where the Hayna Falls were (because ADA, looks kinda steep from Holiwood Nights vlogs)
