Maliek, I have been a Pinnacle user since v.7. I recently upgraded from v.14 to v.19. For me, this was like going fro Junior High school straight to College. After installing the software my wife asked how I liked it. I turned to her and said, "I'm lost."As of today, I have saved not less than 305 of your training videos. You are a lifesaver for me. Thank you for what you do for all of us Pinnacle users, especially me.
Maliek for years I have had average zooms as i was using the wrong 2D Editor. Again Maliek you sharing your advanced knowledge and experience has helped me so much. You really are a most generous person. Thank you so much.
+North Shore Apparently Thank you so much for the kind words. They mean a lot. Sharing my passion for editing brings my a lot of satisfaction and know it is appreciated brings me joy. :-)
Everytime I'm stuck, I say to myself; "I wonder if Maliek has done a tutorial on this?" And when I go search I find out that YES, yes you did. You are an unbelievable help.
I just wanted to say that even though this video is four years old, it and many of your other videos have proved totally invaluable. So sir, I salute and thank you. Best wishes from Sheffield in the UK.
Excellent selection of tutorials . Was a dedicated user of Pinnacle 15 and swore I would never go to 19 . Thanks to you , I have learned how to conquer 19 and make quality productions . Malief , you're the man !!!
Thanks so much Maliek, you have changed your style too. I like it slow and precise and you even zoom in on the button you are pressing, terrific for these old eyes to know exactly where you are going. Can't wait for the next tutorial!
+Kathy Roberts I just went a lot slower and did more movement in this tutorial because it is a quick effect. May not be that slow next time Kathy. :-) Glad you liked it. :-)
-Thanks Walon, I was stucked in the 14th version of our favourite video editor and since I cleaned up my HD I finally decided to move on to a more modern version. Thank you very much for making these things more simple for people like us! hugs!
You're freakin amazing M! I have used the other zoom many times over the past few years, and just accepted the grainy, lower quality zoom shots--didn't know this existed. THANK YOU!
Your tutorials are excellent! You explanation are clear and to the point. I wish I had your tutorials back for Studio 8 - Studio 10 instead of trying to figure how to use the software. Keep up the good work!
Another KILLER video! I will be testing that out for sure. I certainly appreciate all you do. Keep sharing the love and I'll keep hitting that upward thumb, stay subscribed and comment on all your videos. Thanks again for all you do.
this is a great tutorial I have been using Studio for many editions and this is the first time that I can really zoom into a clip. Many Thanks fro a great tutorial
I make videos for our offroad riding group. This technique will enhance the video special effects I've already learned from you. Another hit in my book!
PinnacleStudioPro it really does! I used to split the clip, pan & zoom, then split the clip to the zoomed image. Key Frames, make it sooo much easier! Also, recording in 4K really makes zooming so much nicer, and 18 Ultimate supports it! But... 21 Ultimate makes it even better!!! Can’t wait to upgrade! Keep the awesome classes coming!!! You are the Pinnacle prophet!!!
Thanks for sharing this technique. I publish fishing videos and often need to pan/zoom in on the action. Using the "pan and zoom" feature under the Camera tab would always result in lost resolution. This will come in quite handy. Thanks!
Good stuff. Thank you so much. I was using the Pan and Zoom Setting and getting this black border all around. The approach you present here is much better. Thanks again.
Love the vid as always! I followed your advice and now have the Canon 70D. You were so right. Amazing difference! Now I think I would like to use an action camera for a 'dogs eye view'. Do you have any recommendations? I have never worked with one before. Price is a concern. Thank you!
+meh1201 Glad you like the 70D. I love the camera. I only recommend things that I have used. You can go to my webpage to see what devices I currently use or have used in the past. You can see those items on my webpage. www.pinnaclestudiopro.com/youtube-video-equipment/
Thanks for doing these videos I am used to using 11 having trouble with 19 I don't like that when you bring a clip down it splits the timeline. All my videos are usually just photos that fade in and out with music. Going to try it with my gopro.
Hi Maliek. Killer tutorials. Thanks very much; I'm a newbie to video editing and have Pinnacle 21 Ultimate. Any tips re. zooming in and panning across the frame with the zoom on please? For instance, if I have a row of people, I'd like to zoom in to head and shoulders and pan across the line of people keeping the frame full. I hope that makes sense. Regards, Mick
makes sense. Be sure to enable keyframes and use them to lock in on the scale/zoom then create the movement using the horizontal settings. Watch my keyframes tutorial for help.
Thanks for tutorial, good stuff. I'm using Pinnacle Studio 19. I'm doing some animated zooms, with keyframes so that I can get still portions at the beginning and end of my zoom. Sometimes I find, while zooming, that instead of going straight from the keyframe at the start of the zoom to the keyframe at the end of the zoom, the movement snakes around, going briefly in the opposite direction, swirls round towards the keyframe at the end of the zoom, goes past that keyframe, before swirling back and ending the zoom at the correct place. Any idea what causes this swirling/snaking, and how I turn it off?
HI ,please I would like to ask you why magic bullet is not in pinnacle 19 ultimate and if is possible to install it in...It was a really nice sweet of effect.waiting for your kindly answer... ciao from italy
Thank you for you answer Maliek... .. checking around I see that for have Magic Bullet inside Pinnacle 19 ultimate we must have already installed Pinnacle 17 and Pinnacle 18 ... so I did check ... magic of magic.. Magic bullet appear inside the effects addons.... Anyway thank you Maliek ... be sure if I have some more problems I will contact you again because you are amazing... ciao amigo... see you!
Hi -excellent tutorials thanks. I would like to zoom inside a fixed smaller window. Smaller than full screen. Is there an easy way to do that? Can do it by careful size adjustment but tedious. Thanks. Marmot
Hey Maliek, Whats up, I can't thank you enough for your tutorials because I use Pinnacle Studio 21 for my daughter, son and my channel. Ariana's View, GamerzGame and mine Show VLOX :), whenever I need something I look for your tutorials. They are easy and simple to follow, I can't thank you enough, Thanks. I want to get Pinnacle Studio 22 Ultimate but right now, I can't, but I will soon. Thanks again.
I've been enjoying your videos. Thanks for the tutorials. I used Pinnacle Studio 7 and 8 in the 90's and haven't used it for a while so I'm back into it with Studio 19 Ultimate. I wonder if there is a way to just do a close up without the zooming part?
I just purchased 19 pinnacle how do I transfer all my previous project from Pinnacle 16 Ultima thank you. good job on the zoom explanation I could actually follow you.
+ojoe442 Glad you were able to follow along. :-) If the old projects are not showing up right click in the library window, select quick import, go to the location on your computer where the projects are, select all of the projects and click Open. They will all be available now when you try to open a project.
What you are claiming would appear to be impossible. If your source clip and output clip are both 1080p, the pixel density needed to avoid loss of resolution with a 2x zoom is not there. Are you just saying that the processing is good enough to make the loss acceptable, or are you doing magic. What am I missing?
i've downladed pinnacle studio 19 ultimade with the dvd and it doesnt really work, i can't watch the video while i edit, it only makes audio can you help me?
+Rodistoo Sorry Can't help. You need to register for the Pinnacle Studio forum and ask there. They will need to know your computer specs and the file format of the videos you are working with. forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/243/ShowForum.aspx
Hey man still love your stuff, i was wondering have there been any issues reported of the aspect ratio changing on videos i keep having issues where my media is in HD but it changes it down, even though all my project settings are set in hd? so all my videos have a border any suggestions?
+Bullet Sponge I haven't heard anything about that. How are you Exporting your videos? Are you using the Export to RUclips feature? Are you exporting to a file? What are your export settings? I NEVER use the Export to RUclips feature. It is not reliable because it depends on RUclips algorithms to do things correctly.
+PinnacleStudioPro I just export to file but for example if I have a project in 1920 x 1080 HD and the files are all in the same format it changes it down and ends up with black border. I've just updated to 19 and it still does it so I will reinstall and see what happens. I'll keep you informed thanks for reply as always
What are your export settings in Pinnacle Studio? What file format are you exporting to?When you view the video on your computer are there black bars? What are your RUclips settings? If the black bars only appear on RUclips it is a RUclips issue.
I'm exporting to mpeg 1080p and no its not Anything to do with you tube as the clips appear as a lower res video once exported to file. I've noticed it before i export in the preview it has the black bars but all the settings are correct. The only fix ive found is i have to restart the software and the Project. It seems to occur on a reloaded project or if once I`ve finished exporting a project and start a new one. its very frustrating as ive triple checked everything over and over, ive even gone through your set up videos to make sure.
I'm confused. If the issue is visible in the preview window then it is something that you can address in your settings unless the file is not 1080p. It has to be something with the files. Can you post this issue on the Pinnacle Studio Users site so I can get some help from some of my moderators? plus.google.com/communities/103736620166447167176
Would be much better if you could have a cropping mechanic and you just drag and shape the dimensions of the box accordingly to where and how much you want the video to zoom in. Really would make it easier IMO.
Each time I am thinking that this must have been the last good thing you could teach us about Pinnacle 19. But you are always surprising me again and again. Thank you for this! Do you have any idea when we can expect Pinnacle Studio 20?
+ThomasMemoryVideos You're welcome. There are things that I am still learning and hopefully I will continue to learn. Of course, as I learn things I will be sure to share them with my peeps. :-) History tells us that PS usually comes out with a new version between September and November.
Red Exclaimation Point. I'm so glad I found your tutorial, i was about to give up. I viewed this zoom one and tried it out with much success on a number of videos. Today i wanted to edit another one, first thing i noticed was the the selected clip in the editor at the default to no preset moment the video did not enlarge, it's stayed smaller with a blue gradient border. Selected keyframes and saw one was set at the clip beginning, if i press play here a static pic displays but the audio is correct. If i go to adjust the x-y axis or the size the small static picture suddenly jumps full size but remains static. I tried an experiment of adding a keyframe to zoom too based off the audio i could here, it accepted it but then select OK, as the main screen that selection has a red exclamation point, offers no insight into why it doesn't work and the video just stops at that passage. Have you had this before ?
Hi: I tried that and it didn't fix the issue. So i put it to bed that night and next day choose a different file, i chose 3 in total and no probs at all. Next day new file i run into the exclamation point issue again, try all your suggestions, nada. BUT i had watched your pan and zoom tut so i figured i'd try that. It worked perfectly. Now it wasn't a big zoom so i can really see a difference in image degradation but i'm happy with it. I sure would like to get your solution to work for me though. Kind Regards
Hai there, at the moment I work with Studio11 and I want to upgrade to 19, can I still continue with my current projects in Studio19? And must I remove Studio11 before installing 19? Thx Jos from the Netherlands
Hello, Is there a way to just have one cameras footage zoomed in closer, and then be edited with multicam? Cause basically what I have is a two camera setup one is for closeup ones a little futher back. Since I used Iphones to film, I didnt want to zoom in to close on the phone itself and get that pixelated fuzzy look. So again just basically wondering if there is a way to modify the source video so that all the video for that shot is zoomed in closer, and then I can then edit it as you have shown using the multicam tool. Thanks man
FYI. I actually ended up doing the multi cam first then went back to edit in the close ups. Key I found was just start they keyframe with the zoomed in position, and then what I did was when it switched cams, I did a key frame before two frames before the switch with the zoomed in position, then a frame before switch the norm video size. Otherwise the second cam was also zoomed in. Came out nice in the end. Thanks for reply though, I am sure I will have more questions down the road.
When I change the preset from default to no preset the image/video does not change to it's original timeline format. Any ideas why this is different to your tutorial? many thanks...
+BikeVisionScotland No idea. Must be a bug with the software. See if anyone else on the PS forum has had this issue and been able to solve it. forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/243/ShowForum.aspx
+PinnacleStudioPro Many thanks for the reply. No worries, I will look at Sony Vegas Pro, too many glitches with Pinnacle Studio over the past ten years... Video editing is time consuming enough without having to troll through forums...
+Mike Dear Yes, you can do it using 2D Editor Advanced or Studio PIP. You should use keyframes to start and stop the zoom and use keyframes to change the size and position of the PIP.
Hi Maliek i by music from pinacle studio 19 name score fitter and i dont know how in my library under score fitter i have now triple scoop music. I think if i buy more music from Pinacle studio suppose to be new music. The triple scoop music always says ( This is a préview file and i have to pay every time if i want to keep a song in my vidéo Can you explain this please help me
Most of the ScoreFitter songs do not show up in your library. They are only accessible from the ScoreFitter plugin. TripleScoop music are files that are accessible from your computers hard drive and can be imported into Pinnacle Studio. They should not be part of ScoreFitter.
I have been very disappointed with zoom. I shoot in HD 1920x1080 and I work in 720x480, (full HD to NTSC Wide Screen). I should be able to zoom in quite a bit before my image gets soft, but it never seems the case.
Nice tutorial but it doesn't work properly for me. I'm using Pinnacle Studio 18 Ultimate and this procedure is beset with issues. First, when I select "no preset" the image doesn't revert back to the original form in the monitor. To achieve this I have to disable then enable the effect. However by doing that the monitor slider is now inactive in that the images don't move when sliding it! This only comes alive after I have "guessed" where I want my keyframes to go and start adding the size parameters of the effect. Once I hit "OK" and go back on the timeline, it seems to have saved the effect but I get a red exclamation mark on the clip icon on the timeline and a red line above it where the green render line goes. I assume this means it hasn't rendered the clip. Deleting, replacing and renaming the clip hasn't helped this either. What have I (or the software) done wrong? Thanks in advance.
If the program does not do what I'm showing in the tutorial (No preset doesn't work) it is an issue for Corel support. The red line above the clip means Pinnacle can't render the file. There seems to be an issue with your project. Try deleting the render files and then rename your project (File > Save As > New name) and see if that clears things up.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it still won't work. I even tried opening a new project and using a completely different clip from another source and it just won't render it at all. :-( I have opened a ticket request with Corel support as per your advice, so we'll have to see if they do have a solution.
Just received a reply from Corel. No real help as expected, especially when they opened with: "Unfortunately your product version is no longer supported." I only upgraded to 18 ultimate last year! >.< Anyway, they also said "Please try to convert your video before importing it to Pinnacle 18." Now, all the files I have bean using thus far have been MPEG_TS video files, so I tried it using an MP4 ... and it worked!! Even the "No preset" issues was gone! :-0 So, are we to assume this feature only works with MP4 files? That is a problem for anyone working with MTS files... :-\ Since the rest of the e-mail was basically a plug to get me to upgrade to Pinnacle 20, how do I know this will solve the issue?
I guess the only way you will know is if you try it and see. Personally I think the issue has to be something else because the process should work using MTS files and I have never heard of the issue you are having from anyone else. Maybe you should ask on the PS Forum and see if anyone else has had this issue and was able to find a solution. forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/242/ShowForum.aspx
+Nothing Special Here You can't draw something in the video using Pinnacle Studio. My arrows are made using the screen capture software that I use to record my screen.
NEW VIDEO YOU COULD MAKE: Can you please , please , please make a video on how to make a audio spectrum , I wanted to make a new channel where I remix songs , but I need to know how to make an audio spectrum like you see on dubstep nation....
+Feel the Magic Use 2D Editor Advanced to change the size and location of the video clip so that it fits the preview window. Use Keyframes to bring it back to the original size. Voila!

do you know, how make grid in pinnacle 2016?
because i want to make a music video project, like accapela
+Steven Mesakh No, I do not know how to make a grid.
Hi -excellent tutorials thanks.
I would like to zoom inside a fixed smaller window. Smaller than full screen. Is there an easy way to do that?
Can do it by careful size adjustment but tedious.
Thanks. Marmot
Add Studio PIP effect to a clip to make it appear in a smaller window. Then apply 2D Editor advanced to the same clip to change the scale to zoom in.
I have a question! How can you adjust satustration and exposure in Pinnacle studio 19?
Great tutorial, as always.
Greta tutorial! Question: how do you get That thumb and textballoon on your screen? Probably super easy for you?
+Otto Oome They are .PNG pictures. I just place them on the timeline where I want them to show up.
+PinnacleStudioPro Tx Maliek, you see super easy for you !

Can you post this issue on the Pinnacle Studio Users site so I can get some help from some of my moderators? plus.google.com/communities/103736620166447167176
very nice tutorial
+Šimunas Videos Thank you.
thank you. Because of you, I'm able to lead a semi- normal life. Another great video!
+Mark Baker Hilarious. LOL!!!!!!!
History tells us that PS usually comes out with a new version between September and November.
Great learning experience
The red exclamation point means Pinnacle is unable to preview the file. Try deleting your render files and renaming the project.
Kind Regards
muchas gracias amigo.
I would love to see how you make the red arrows and circles in thees videos
They are made using my screen capture software. It is called Camtasia. There are lots of tutorials on RUclips.
thank you
I make them with Camtasia screen recorder. I do not do tutorials on other software on this channel.
It is all fine, I think I can learn to use that some how, thanks for the name, I will look into it :-)
Hai there, at the moment I work with Studio11 and I want to upgrade to 19, can I still continue with my current projects in Studio19? And must I remove Studio11 before installing 19? Thx Jos from the Netherlands
+Jos Geerling I don't think you can continue your current projects in 19. You can have both programs on your computer at the same time.
nice tutorial so i can do that...... thanks....
Thanks Malick
Hello, Is there a way to just have one cameras footage zoomed in closer, and then be edited with multicam? Cause basically what I have is a two camera setup one is for closeup ones a little futher back. Since I used Iphones to film, I didnt want to zoom in to close on the phone itself and get that pixelated fuzzy look. So again just basically wondering if there is a way to modify the source video so that all the video for that shot is zoomed in closer, and then I can then edit it as you have shown using the multicam tool. Thanks man
Zoom in, then export that footage to a new file. Then use that file and the other file to use as multi cam footage.
When I pan and zoomed my photo did get pixelated, is there a way to prevent that?
When I change the preset from default to no preset the image/video does not change to it's original timeline format. Any ideas why this is different to your tutorial? many thanks...
+BikeVisionScotland No idea. Must be a bug with the software. See if anyone else on the PS forum has had this issue and been able to solve it. forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/243/ShowForum.aspx
+PinnacleStudioPro Many thanks for the reply. No worries, I will look at Sony Vegas Pro, too many glitches with Pinnacle Studio over the past ten years... Video editing is time consuming enough without having to troll through forums...
how did make that custom intro. I want to make an intro for my RUclips videos. but all the 2d n 3d ones on pinnacle are old n out dated???? thank you
+Jamaal S I make my intros using Adobe After Effects.
+PinnacleStudioPro OK thanks
Great video!!!
I'd like to zoom out on a video stopping the zoom in a a picture in picture scenario. Anyway to do that?
+Mike Dear Yes, you can do it using 2D Editor Advanced or Studio PIP. You should use keyframes to start and stop the zoom and use keyframes to change the size and position of the PIP.
I figured it out. I love your product (tutorials). Thank you for what you do for your entire community of followers.
Awesome! I'm glad you got it figured out. Appreciate the kind words.
I should be able to zoom in quite a bit before my image gets soft, but it never seems the case.
i have a question, how to change the background video in pinnnacle 20?
Use a green screen. Watch my green screen video
Oh right, thanks man
in the video you see in the beginning al kind of marks above the timeline (one is orange) . I don't have them. Can somebody help me?
This video is for Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. You have different tools based on the version you have (Standard, Plus, or Ultimate).
PinnacleStudioPro thanks!
it was big help for me...
Very Helpful
Quick question... the Key frame button doesn't show up on Pinnacle Studio 19 (Not ultimate or pro) is that a feature in Pinnacle studio 19?
It is in Ultimate and Plus only.
PinnacleStudioPro that is plain annoying...
I have opened a ticket request with Corel support as per your advice, so we'll have to see if they do have a solution.
You need to check with support.
Just received a reply from Corel. No real help as expected, especially when they opened with:
"Unfortunately your product version is no longer supported."
I only upgraded to 18 ultimate last year! >.<
Anyway, they also said "Please try to convert your video before importing it to Pinnacle 18."
Now, all the files I have bean using thus far have been MPEG_TS video files, so I tried it using an MP4 ... and it worked!! Even the "No preset" issues was gone! :-0
So, are we to assume this feature only works with MP4 files? That is a problem for anyone working with MTS files... :-\
Since the rest of the e-mail was basically a plug to get me to upgrade to Pinnacle 20, how do I know this will solve the issue?
I guess the only way you will know is if you try it and see.
Personally I think the issue has to be something else because the process should work using MTS files and I have never heard of the issue you are having from anyone else.
Maybe you should ask on the PS Forum and see if anyone else has had this issue and was able to find a solution.

It IS too pretty! jejeje

That's still illegal and I don't do anything illegal. You have to buy it.

NEW VIDEO YOU COULD MAKE:
Can you please , please , please make a video on how to make a audio spectrum , I wanted to make a new channel where I remix songs , but I need to know how to make an audio spectrum like you see on dubstep nation....
+MoustachePlayz You can't make one with Pinnacle Studio.
6: 55 How Can I do this effect?
+Feel the Magic Use 2D Editor Advanced to change the size and location of the video clip so that it fits the preview window. Use Keyframes to bring it back to the original size. Voila!
+PinnacleStudioPro Ok, Thanks you, I gonna try it 😊
