    I rebuilt the 1.2 8v top-end completely and reassembled the engine before I realised that I had a cracked piston ring in cylinder 2. I would like to remove the piston and rod from below, so I that I can avoid disassembly. Do you know if it's possible to remove the crankshaft and get the piston out from underneath?

      @@JoniK1 when you did it, did you remove the cylinder head first and push the pistons up from the bottom? Or did you manage to remove the pistons with the cylinder head still attatched to the block?

    • @JoniK1
      @JoniK1  Год назад +5

      Of course TJET swap would be the easiest solution for power but sadly it's not legal in here for a modern car. 1.2 8V is really robust if compared to 16V but it doesn't really matter if you're not going to boost it. Now I want to know how this 1.4 8V will perform but sadly I had to use 1.2 cylinder head because the camshaft is different. I'll try to make it usable

    hi!! I have the 1.2 8v and at 173k km only, it burns a lot of oil even tho I am doing regular oil changes. What is your opinion about this engine? good or bad? Also, the timing belt tensioner on this engine as you say is much worse than the newer engine tensioner, Fiat ask for a special tool to tension the old engine timing belt which is impossible to find, and even if you find it it will be very expensive, the result is to end up to tight the belt by your experience ( if you have any ) probably with a screwdriver like me or a plier, that was the most difficult part of the job for me as I could not be sure what exactly the correct tension should be, sad thing I had not see your video so to know that the newer tensioner fit in my engine to buy and put it on when I change the timing belt 1 week ago. Also, one other problem I have found with the old engine is the aluminum of the engine head, I dont know why, but Fiat should have used low-quality aluminum, and after 20 years of use and a lot of heat-cool cycles, some of the threads on it ( like the ones that hold the valve cover ) are getting stripped VERY VERY easily and make a small job a big one. Other problems I have with this engine was with the coil packs and the ECU, but those are general engine problems that the other engine could also have.

    • @JoniK1
      @JoniK1  11 месяцев назад

      How much is the oil consumption? 0.5L/1000km is still rated "normal" in here. I had to top the oil every 1000km on my 300k km 1.2 8V engine. It gave up soon after that, no compression in third cylinder because of burnt exhaust valve

    • @JoniK1

      Yes if you use original intake manifold (sensors), crankshaft sprocket and pulley (ignition will be 15 degrees retarded otherwise). VVT may have to be locked (I haven't tested that yet). And of course you need to relocate coil pack. But yeah basically it's fittable

      @@JoniK1 Tarkoitin lähinnä moottoreiden eroja. mk2b korissa saattaa vielä löytyä uutta ja vanhaa sekaisin. Ne missä on kierrekorkki tai painettava korkki on kansien rakenteissa eroja. Itse en saanut 866 nokkaa sopimaan 2005 uuden mallin mottiin.

    • @samivaananen8770
      @samivaananen8770 Год назад +1

      Kun rupesin asiaa muistelemaan niin uudemmassa kannen mallissa nokan hihnapyörän puoleinen laakerointi on suurempi halkaisijainen kuin vanhemmassa 866 nokassa. Siksi se ei sopinut.

    • @JoniK1
      @JoniK1  Год назад +2

      Se 2006 oli joo vielä sillä vanhemmalla moottorilla mutta siinä oli metallinen kannentiiviste ja erilainen öljytikku nyt ainakin eli tollanen jännä välimalli. En oo vielä ite ehtinyt tuota nokkaa tutkimaan mutta kuvien perusteella ainakin on eroa jonkin verran. Toki tuo 1.4 nokka on yllättävän hyvä eli ei tarttis periaatteessa kuin saada nokkapyörä modattua
