👉 In today's racy edition of Czechia vs. USA: The Top 10 places prude Americans should avoid in Czechia. Czechs and Americans have pretty different attitudes towards nudity. It's quite a shock for a prudish American (like me!) to see Czechs naked on beaches, in their underwear in city parks or even walking around naked in front of their well-lit windows! This open attitude towards nudity has forced me to examine my own attitude towards the naked body, and wonder if I'll even be able to embrace nudity like a Czech? Probably not. Though I admire the Czech's sense of personal freedom!

When is possible study on line english with you
Hi Jen, the Old Quibbler at your service again! ;) I have an understanding for people with tight education (catholic or protestant) but its scars can be cleared away same easy way like ticklishness - it is all in your head. ;) So one by one:
1) Not all CZ beaches are tolerant to all sorts of nudity but most Czechs complaint only when things get annoying and still they usually react by leaving and they resort to shouting only if really upset - live and let die you know? ;)
2) True. Parks in CZE are for everyone and easing tight clothes gives more relaxation but I prefer to keep dignity and not to expose - it is still public space not meant for nudity.
3) I have always been curious about how doctors in muslim world examine women patients - now I get the idea (from catholic)... :D Thank you!
4) Apartment is private place so everyone can wear (or not) there anything but I believe habit of just underwear (it is individual - not all do it) in apartments is heritage of too generous prices of central heating in comunist era.
5) Peeing in the public is annoying but widely tolerated on the principle of "expected mutual ignorance in case of urgent need" - and I guess the toilet 50 yards away is just unknown to the unlocal people. Once leaving the birthday party late night I almost ran into a girl peeing above sewer between two cars (in about 2 metres wide gap...) - she apologised for doing it as a little drunk but no problem - I just smiled at her waived and kept on going. :D Persuasion of women breast-feeding their kids (not only in US!) is just beyond my understanding - prudency and hypocricy walking hand by hand... :/
6) When it comes to exposure of porn magazines in newsstands there were parliamentary(!) attempts for mandatory putting them away from sight in 90' but guess who torpedoed it? Christian-democrats...! ;D Today porn sprees from internet thus no potiticians bother anymore - such bans would be pathetic.
7) I guess concentration of sex shops in Prague centre is heritage of 1990'. People were shoping in the city centre as there were no shopping malls outside the centre and so it stayed - shopping malls did not lure away customers of sex shops.
8) Swimming naked is far better feeling then same in swimsuit - but something tells me you will never experience it... ;D
9) Why RU so suspicious about the american hockey players are Czechs? ;) As I can see from your discription CZ male changing rooms work similar way - except for hair care, doing nails and fake eyelashes...
10) There is a reason for only sheets in sauna - swimsuit materials are not meant for such high tempertures and while demage to your swimsuit is your problem the demage of wood benches in sauna would be problem for owner. In Italy swimsuit is mandatory in sauna (catholic country)... ;) Anyway not all CZ saunas are coed - some have rotating system (men days - women days), some have women's part and coed part (discriminating for men isn't it?), some are strictly for private use - you just have to find what suits you. :)
So to your final question - Czech attitude to nudity seems to me much more natural, free and healthy - life is far easier if UR not stressed by what people think of how you look or act. People raised like you are slaves of their education and carry the burden for life for... what?! You tell me. ;)

1st now that I have found your videos I feel compelled to show them to my friends and... they loved you! :) *(they also love Czech Republic, especially Prague) we spend binge watching your videos large part of Saturday. Your show was now for us what “Desperate housewives” use to be :)
2nd Are there some summer language schools/intensive Czech course during summer that you would recommend?
3rd Could you mention in a few words about what’s going in Prague with “nouzový” - stuff? Is it possible to come during the summer to Prague?
@@jammmy30 As for 3rd - "Nozový stav" (state of emergancy) had ended two weeks ago and was replaced with "state of pandemic readiness" based on "Pandemic Act" which allows goverment to take action against pandemy more flexibly which results in - nobody knows (government included) what will be in the summer... In so far minister of health care decided that shops will open after spread will fall to 100 new cases per day and 100.000 people - which will not happen till next week. So maybe you should subscribe to website of Swedish embassy in Prague for a fresh news. :)
@@toruvalejo6152 thank you for your thoughtful reply. It really gave a very full insight into the situation, because at first it thought that it was me who was somehow lost in translation trying to gather info from Cesky Rouzhlas, but now I understand that it is a bit more general situation. This very nice and very laid back attitude of “go with a flow” probably works great for the relaxed and beer drinking Czech... but this is totally impossible to squeeze into Scandinavian time frame. Our summer vacation schedules are ready at the latest by the end of April. But anyway... I will gamble on Czech Republic being alive and well be the end of June.. :)

Ahoj Jen. Co se týče svlékání doma, tak to dělám s radostí. Občas se pohybuji po bytě úplně nahý. Ale nehledej v tom nic sexuálního. Člověk je systémem a společností každý den nucen dodržovat neustále nějaká pravidla. To se nesmí, tamto se musí... Domov, byt - poslední relativní ostrov svobody. Člověk je doma opět člověkem. Všechny masky a sociální role padají dolů a člověk je opět sám sebou. Nahota není sexualita. Nahota je svoboda. Aspoň její poslední zbytky, řekl bych.
Ulpně souhlasím s tím! Ale v Americe, máme trošku jiný nazory.

I literally skyped with my uncle (czech) and his family (all of them grew up and still live in the US) like a few days ago and my uncle was talking about how hot it was. He then proceeded to tell us about how he even had to take off his t-shirt while working in the garden and both of my cousins were like: “Oh no dad, why would you do that, what about the neighbours?!” whilst me, my uncle and grandma (all czech) were like: “Uhm, overreacting much?” 🙈😂

American kids are brainwashed into thinking that body is "gross". Things are changing slowly...
I'm French and most French are pudic but *absolutely not prude* . Not the same thing at all! Most French are kind of too shy to get nude but will *very rarely* be shocked. However toplessness is not usually seen as real nudity but the majority of women will be too shy to go topless on swimming areas. It's rare, quite rare or common depending on regions.
"Culture" is only what you are used to see and do, that's it... in the US there's just some States ok with toplessness and more ok with nudity such as NY wich is very open minded about it. Or cities like San Francisco. They also have many "Naked Bike Rides" in some cities. Concerning breastfeeding it's really the only Western country I know that had so much controversy about it few years ago while others didn't care (same for toplessness at the beach), now since ~2017/2018 you can't say anything to a woman breastfeeding in any States. There was a federal law in 1999 about it however it was less protective. Hoping things while change even more in the US I have relatives there too. (France, US and me in Czechia now)
The thing is also that nude areas are very common in Czechia in Germany, in Spain and in France it's also kind of common (but less), but for the US it's rarer. France has for example 500 nude zones, and US that has 5x more inhabitants but "only" 260 nude zones. To have at leats the same number as France they would have to have 2500 nude zones or for France to have as much would be about 52. That's some big difference! (Ok it's true usually US areas in general are at least a bit larger, however it still gives an idea) so we could ad x2 for example it will still be 104 for France or 1250 for US if we would calculate the equivalent and compare with average size. Yep I really did some math about it 😆 however it gives a view of the difference in general.
Also another thing: concerning sauna even in France saunas are not nudity allowed (except for non-mixed), like the US but this is due to the fact that in some countries (like my examples) saunas are viewed as a family thing however in other countries they are viewed as a more adult thing.

Years ago I was teaching a group of Amtericans and among other things we brought up the matter of nudity. They were shocked when I told them they can have a swim in as many clothes they wish, including NO CLOTHES AT ALL. I heard words like unacceptable, shocking, disgusting, immoral ..... In the afternoon (the same day) I went for a swim in a local lake as I used to in hot days like that one and as I came to my favourite spot I couldn´t believe my eyes. Two of my students were emerging from the water stark naked just a few meters for from me. I could´n resist and and shouted to them if they liked it. They were petrified and put on their clothes in about two seconds and ran to me to beg me not to tell anybody!!! A´t žije pokrytectví :-)
When I visited Brno I was in shock because in the building I stay live the roof floor was open and separated like rooms paravane or cells and the bathroom towel bowl was without any walls every body could see you poo
Typical Americans ,they have the largest porm market ,consume the most drugs have a crime akin to some 3rd world countries yet call to be the best and most moral country on earth 🤣🤣

I’m Italian living in Cz and I LOVE this. We all have the same but different body and the same needs, it’s amazing to see people being comfortable with it.
And also, Czech Republic is a safe country when comes to rapes, and I think it’s a consequence also of a normalizing nudity, a body is something all we have and not a sexual thing to cover and show off when we smell the mating season
exactly, there is a quote saying something like: A Forbidden fruit tastes the best.
And meny people try to ban something completly instead of normalizing it. Thats the problem.
A person is not just safe from rape. In naturist places any sexual assault is practically unheard of. People generally treat each other better as well. Being among naturists is among the safest places to be. It is so sad that other people are so misguided when it comes to nudity, particularly those that are 'religious' which most ironic and hypocritical. I think with the Christian religion that the so-called 'modesty' nonsense is an artificial construct that is not actually part of the religion.
On the contrary, I had a culture shock when I started living in the USA. I once had my seven-year-old son change out of his school uniform into sportswear in the school hallway. He wasn't naked at all, he had underwear, but the teacher who was supervising there almost got a heart attack and then they took me aside and explained to me that it shouldn't be done here. At the doctor's, during the entrance examination, I had to fill out a lot of papers to allow the doctor to look under my son's underwear. I felt like I was in a land of lunatics. I have more such stories. But at the end of my year-long stay, I was completely assimilated, so when I saw a man at Lake Powell changing into a swimsuit outside, I was a little shocked too, and I knew right away - he was definitely not American.

@@DreamPrague Thank you. I love the USA (it's a beautiful country) and I love Americans very much. In my experience, they are very friendly and willing to help. Because I am a believer, I went to the Presbitarian Church to listen to Timothy Keller's sermon, and it was amazing. And in New York, where I lived, there was a lot of culture as well and a diverse mix of different people. Because I lived next to Harlem, at first I was afraid to go there because I was the only white man among African Americans, but eventually I started to like those African Americans because of their spontaneity (also the Jews I met were nice because they had a similar direct mentality as Czechs). I really like to remember those times. The experience opened my eyes in many ways. We are very similar as nations, but not in everything. In some ways, the Ameticians seemed strange to me. Relationship to nudity is one of those things.

This was not always so. Things changed after 1980 when ultra conservatives became dominant in American politics. These are the same people who today want to ban abortion and birth control nationwide.
Yeah, I'm not Catholic, nor a prude, but even as a fairly liberal-minded American/Canadian I think you nailed it in my case. I had those same kind of encounters in France as a 26 year old trying my best not to look at anyone on a beach. It took a while before I came to the realization it was an issue with me and not with them. Seeing people of all ages not giving a dam and me being so uncomfortable was one of the first times I had a chance to really challenge my own set values as a person of what is moral or decent. We (in NA) are so hyped up that a nude body is about sexuality and sexual messages that we can't see past that it is just people with no hidden agendas just out to enjoy themselves. Pity that more people from North America can't have these same realizations.

What I do not understand aubout this is: If you don't like to see it happened than why are you watching it? It's like people are obsesed to moralize others just because they can.

Actually, I was told wearing swimsuit to saunas is dangerous/unhealthy for you. The swimsuit fabric does not "breathe" and is heavily synthetic, so it´s not made for extremely high temperatures and you risk some health problems wearing them for like 20 minutes in 90 degrees celsius sauna. But everywhere we went, you got a towel and you could use it as you saw fit - wrap it around you, or just sit at it naked, your choice, but it was considered neccessary and hygienic to have something to sit on and not just sit on the wood bench with your naked butt. :D Something like a "sauna etiquette". But of course, it´s not the same standard everywhere, but this is basic hygiene and politeness that should be respected in all saunas. :)

Bedsheets in saunas are usually 100% thin cotton, so it "breathes" better than thicker towels. I know this since we had our own sauna in our house

I live in USA but I am Czech. I never thought of nudity being "something" till I moved to USA never heard of teen pregnancy till I moved to USA. Never heard that many sexual predators till I moved to USA. Never thought breastfeeding is sexual till I moved to USA! Maybe if American people should learn from Czech a bit to loosen up.
That’s so fascinating and I believe you! American culture has so many issues with sex and bodies, I never realized how strange it was until I left!
I think it’s partly religion and partly the fatness causing self conscientious people to not feel comfortable around nudity. I don’t think they would care much if all looked like Adonis and Aphrodita😄
Also, unlike in Europe, in America body is sexualized and sex politicized, everything’s an issue/hot topic😂
@@dudoklasovity2093it's all religion and lil more. It's the type of Christians that settled America in contrast compare it to Brazil. Both Christian but Brazil is far more nude friendly and it's also the largest Lutheran denomination in the world. Martin Luther use to say I'm created as my God in his image if he wanted me to wear clothes I'd been born in them instead of as his image nude I was birthed . It simply destroyed any notion of distinction between sex and nudity in America they aren't but Americans don't know it.
I come from Slovakia and I moved to Prague like 10 years ago. At first I was the same prude from catolic family, never exposed my body anywhere but when I started to date a Czech guy and we went swimming for the first time, he said that it is feels much better to swim naked in the lake and he persueded me to do so and he was the hell right 😁 Since then I convinced also a few of my Slovak friends to swim naked in lakes close to Bratislava and all of them said that it is really a game changer and you cannot just go back and wear a swimsuit again 😂
Já vlastně nechápu, co by pro křesťana mělo být na nahotě špatného. Bůh stvořil člověka nahého, ne? A určitě ho takového miluje. Důvěrnost a intimita samozřejmě znamenají, že člověk nechce s každých sdílet všechno, ale myslím si, že hlavní problém bude spíš v pocitech viny, které máme se sexem a nahotou spojeny. Proč tam ty pocity viny bývají? To je otázka pro každého z nás.

My boyfriend does it too. I thought it's quite common even in the US. The dad in the "Goldbergs" tv series does that.
As a Polish girl born and raised in a prudish Cathlic family and now living in the Czech Republic, I can relate! :D I was laughing so hard at your video, it was great. I checked most of your points, with the coed sauna included where we with my Czech partner went with a couple of friends. I never expected to see so much of them this day, and yet... :D But in general I find it actually really healthy, and I like it. Plus I get to go home every now and then and shock my old prudish friends which is kind of fun :)
nevedel som že je niečo zlé na tom chodiť vo vlastnom byte v spodnom prádle. Za čiarou mi príde keď niekto sedí na WC a robí "potrebu" pri otvorených dverách.
To není zlé! Ale muži v Americe zřidka dělají.

@@katerinaregendova7602 Neboj taky o močení nemluvím :D někdy je to fakt akutní a ano přiznávám rád si tam sednu a nechám dveře otevřené, taky chodím doma bez kalhot to ani jinak nejde, ale venku nemusím chodit nahý to už je trochu extrém i na mě, asi mám ještě nějakou sebereflexi....
I don't think that Czechia stands out much in terms of public nudity, there are for sure other more nude friendly countries in Europe.
Yeah, I'm starting to learn that a lot of these Czech traits are similar to other Europeans. How did we Americans become such a weird offspring???
@@DreamPrague Simple: Religion worshipping ethereal Domestic Abuser.
Nudity can cause "dirty thoughts" which are sin, for which ppl could end up being tortured for eternity. No need for action.
So, the simplest way how to prevent eternal damnation is to remove any possible stimuli from sight - while explaining it as such for so long, that nakedness become "culturally sexualized"...
And than you can create several whole new LGBTQ+ categories for those who are not extremely aroused after single glance of square-inch-sized area of naked skin on their preffered "possible counterpart", completely unaware that this "minority" consist of the half of European population...

I guess we have to draw a line where nudity begins.. I think nudity is when a person is fully naked, with no underwear or anything. If a person were to think that nudity begins with a person still in their underwear, I get that they wouldn't want to go to Czech parks and such :D (btw, great video as always Jen!)

Jen, moc krásné video. Už dávno lidé toužící po moci zjistili, že ovládnout člověka lze jen tehdy, pokud se ovládne jeho sexuální pud. Proto tolik náboženství , církví a vlád se tak intenzivně věnuje pravidlům v sexualitě. Na světě není nic krásnějšího a přirozenějšího, než matka kojící své dítě. Vůbec nejde o slušnost, či neslušnost, ale o touhu ovládat. Stačí se podívat na to, co se nyní děje v katolickém Polsku.
No vida, tak tohle mě nenapadlo. Zajímavý pohled a bude na něm hodně pravdy.
Já, ačkoliv ateista, si myslím, že v dobách bez antikoncepce a osvěty byla pravidla (sex až po svatbě apod.) potřeba jako sůl. Ta přikázání dávala společnosti řád a pořádek. Kdyby každý mohl s každým, byl by čurbes, grunty rozhádaný, všude nezaopatřených dětí jak králíků. To prostě nechceš ani ve středověku, ne?
Akorát právo první noci pro rychtáře byla úchylárna jako prase. No, extrémy nikdy nedělají dobrotu - jak přehnané puritánství svázané pravidly, tak i bezbřehá anarchie.

Dám dva příklady: a) Bývalé NDR, kde si východní Němci s holými zadky na plážích u Baltu mohli připadat alespoň na chvíli svobodní, (rádi jsem se přidávali). b) Současné Polsko, které se svými zákony proti interrupci, ovlivněné právě katolickou církví, směřuje někam do minula.

I am a Czech and this definitely does not apply to me. Never been to a nudist beach, never heard of pools where you can swim naked, never went to a sauna but always found it weird that people go there absolutely naked. I wear my clothes at home :D I mean I have no problem with walking out of the shower naked and dress up in my bedroom but I cant imagine like actually being naked all the time. Like why? :D And I agree with you I feel very weird at the doctors. So I think opinions on this matter differ a lot among people. I would say that younger people in general are less nudist than older ones.

Asi tak do puberty, jsem vnímal Spojené státy jako nejsvobodnější zemi na světě, ale pak jsem tam několikrát byl, viděl ten jejich svět na vlastní oči a musím říct zlatá Česká republika. Všude nějaké příkazy, zákazy, doporučení. Teď, když už si dokáži něco anglicky přečíst a vidím kam se americká média řítí, tak se mi to jen potvrzuje. U nás se cítím mnohem mnohem svobodněji, zatím.

I think it depends on the religion, though. Poland with all their rightous catholics is not loving nudenes at all, and I think many could relate to the Americans in this aspect.
@@SuperPasiaczek yes, I agree with that, buy it is more Polish politics. For ex. Croatia is as well very catholic and the nudity is not seen as something very bad there. I don't know about Italy. And maybe the Irish would be problematic a bit. :D
@@playfullearningtv7019 Interesting! but I am saying this more of my own experience of going to public pools in Poland, not policits so much (even though these are extremely catholic now). There's hardly anyone changing their clothes in front of their lockers, it's always in the cabins. Personally I am now much more relaxed about it but many of my friends are actually pretty prude, still. Also, now that you mention it, I remember being at pool in Spain and being really shocked how relaxed they were about the nuditiy thing. Interesting topic.
😂 As a Czech living in Denmark, i can say, that Czechs are prude compared to Danes 😉 i joined a naked winter bathing club myself and i really love it. It's liberating

Ono to je taká naša verzia sauny. Vo Fínsku sa prestieradlo nepoužíva (aspoň v tých fínskych saunách kde som bol) a to je domov sauny 😁 Pri tých teplotách je nejaký pot na lavici za malú chvíľu odparený a nikto to nerieši.
A taky aby mi neshorela prdel 😄

To the "male doctor" topic - there is regulation, that minor girl can't be examined by male doctor only. There always have to be female nurse or parent present in the room. But I feel sometimes uncomfortable as well, especially with my gynecologist - he is kind elderly man, who loves to talk with patients, but it's super awkward to chat about school exams while he's doing his "job" :)))

Swimming suits and towels are not allowed in saunas because some synthetic fibers can let out dangerous fumes while exposed to hot temperatures. That's why people are supposed to use cotton sheets.

It's Wednesday, we need to cheer us up. Well Czechs and nudity is a chapter in itself. Younger generations are probably more picky, but the older a person is, the less dismayed is. I was shy too, but not so much today. When I will be 60, I probably will not care where I expose my background 😎

I’ve lived in Germany for over 24 years and became a citizen a little over 10 years ago. Much of your description for Czechia also rings true here as well. The thought of a relaxing sauna was enticing, and I was fascinated about the idea of German sauna culture. At the same time, I was much too shy about public nudity to just walk into a local sauna where I might bump into a neighbor, friend or colleague from work. My solution was to travel two and a half hours from home to Stuttgart, where I was confident that I wouldn’t encounter anyone I knew.
Not only did I encounter a great way to relax and experience German culture, but also found that it demystifies the human body and contributes to body positivity. I imagined the sauna to be a place completely dominated by models with stereotypical „perfect dimensions“ and unblemished skin. The first guy that I encountered was obese and clearly a regular, based on the familiarity which which he chatted with the Saunameister. It set an easygoing vibe that set the mood for my entire afternoon. Yes, there certainly are a number of people in the sauna who would fulfill some description of an aesthetic ideal, but they are no more dominant in numbers than you would encounter anywhere else. The whole rest of the sauna population represents just about anyone you can imagine, with all kinds of skin, blemishes and all, all shapes and sizes and a very broad range of ages, from quite young to old. Pubescent kids generally are missing, as one might expect. I have a friend who has a sauna in his home and the whole family used it together. But the daughters pretty much stopped joining them from one day to the next. The father saying that it’s fine if they want to wrap themselves in a towel or bathrobe didn’t ease their discomfort.
Still, respect for venturing into a sauna where you were liable to run into your colleagues and students. It took me years to become enough at ease to do that. Colleagues at work have talked about going into the sauna together, then strategically changing location when they spot a manager coming around the corner. I also don’t go to the sauna in hotels on work trips where I might bump into colleagues. But I have become comfortable enough to have an outing to a mineral bath with my wife and a few girlfriends (to be clear: I’m strictly monogamous). My wife doesn’t go into the sauna, but there’s no issue about the girlfriends and me going. Also, I’m quite at ease about visiting our neighborhood sauna, just one block from our home.

And nor Czechs, nor Sweds did mind to solve it like that... When my relatives in Colorado heard about that, there comments was “Thanks God you are a boy!”.

A to jste ještě neviděla, že tak v půlce českých domácností se lidé před sebou nijak nestydí a chodí klidně nazí. Třeba, když jdu z koupelny do ložnice, tak by mě vůbec nenapadlo se oblékat, takže mé dcery (už skoro dospělé) mě i manželku viděly nahé tisíckrát. Byl jsem vychováván podobně. Mí rodiče se před námi taky nestyděli.
A třeba s tím bazénem, když byly dcery malé a jeli jsme do bazénu bez manželky, tak jsem je bral normálně do pánské šatny a nemyslím, že by jim to nějak ublížilo.

Já jsem sice stydlivější, ale u rodičů to tak není. Po ránu tu chodí taky nazí a mě to nevadí, protože to dělají už od mého útlého věku a proto mi to nepřijde divný. Nechápu ty dnešní rodiče, co malým holčičkám na pláži či u bazénu dávají podprdy. My jsme všude lítali nazí a bylo to v pohodě, nic nás neškrtilo a my byli spokojení. 😅

Hi Jen, you made me laugh with your sauna story, i laughed my ass off, hysterical :-)) I can relate to certain point.
I have 2 completely opposite stories to tell of how confusing it can get over the years, especially when you switch continents and cultures. I am little bit of both. For a little background - I am native Slovakian living in the NY, US for past 25 years and naturalized American.
1. We went on a ski trip with best buddies last winter - just like on old days (6 guys, lifetime friends - we know each other for 20 years or so) to Lake Placid NY. We rented house in the middle of nowhere that had sauna and jacuzzi outside. All of us former expats -Czecho-Slovakians, very normal with nudity growing up (lakes, rivers, high school trips, love life etc ), but going to sauna we were prude Americans all with our shorts on, and I could tell it was OFF. It felt totally strange. Like - - it is not suppose to like this. Kind of felt like at the crossroads, ....who are we, really?....
2. Before I emigrated I worked at this private company and one time we rented this cottage by the lake in the middle of summer for company outing. Drinking, bonfire, staying over etc. We even drove our company cars there. We sat around the bonfire, singing, laughing, talking, enjoying the beer and wine, moonlight, completely forgetting the fact we are co-workers, when someone yelled: "skinny-dipping!". Everyone got up and started madly disrobing like on some military drill, and all of us jumped into the lake butt naked. Girls, guys, married, single, you name it. Nobody gave a flying f.. Kind of natural. Nobody cared, people screamed, laughed, kicked water around, joked around...
(moral of the story nr.2? A.complete comfort with nudity, B.You got to see few gorgeous female coworkers as god created them, under the full moon... /until then we only dreamed about it/ )

It's obvious that your feelings from the sauna visit were quite strong and authentic :) Regarding the whole "stripping to undies when at home" thing, yes, that's common, I used to do it in the apartment, however now in a house with bigger windows and frequent walks to the garden I significantly reduced this habit. At a college dorm, a bathrobe was my common home attire :)

My personal exp, one of the largest swimming pools in Prauge, summer, mid day, some ladies top less swimming around, no compalins there.
In the park I frequent in summer when the weather is nice people go outside to lie down on blankets and read books, sunbath and such, a lot of girls are there topless too (still Prague). Farther my walk route from the part next to a decently frequented main street there are new houses with smaller plots of lands, pretty regularly I meet there some lovely girls sunbathing topless in front of their flats (no walls or greenery, just regular wire fences), they are very nice to talk to even to me as a stranger (well it's part of my regular walk track so they already know me but then again other people walk by too).
It never really felt wrong (I'm czech), interesting sure but kinda nice to be able to just lay down on a blanket sunbath and read a book.
Od doby, co jsem začala pravidelně několikrát týdně plavat, jsem si na nahotu prostě zvykla a jsou mi i příjemnější oddělené (tj ženské a mužské) společné šatny, kde se převlíknu mezi ostatními, než převlékací kabinky, které jsou malé a musím si nosit oblečení, je to pruda. Nikdo tam na nikoho neciví, ale ani neodvrací zrak, nahota tam není nic erotického ani nepatřičného. A je to dobře - aspoň člověk ví, jak vypadají ostatní těla, že jsou prostě různá, lépe se tak i odolává nějakým mediálním tlakům na dokonalou postavu atd. A je dobře, když se do takových míst vodí i děti - ať právě vidí, jak vypadá lidské tělo, že je různé, někdo je hubený, někdo tlustý, někdo svalnatý, někdo má celulitidu, někdo malá prsa, někdo velká, někdo je vrásčitý... a všechna ta těla jsou prostě přirozená a normální. Právě v konfrontaci s jinými nahými těly může člověk získat pozitivní vztah k tomu vlastnímu a taková převlékárna a společná sprcha je nejlepším lékem na komplexy :)

Great topic. Great video. Born CZ, raised in SoCal (immigrants), now in CZ. My father who is now about 75 used to come home from work and take everything off exept his underwear. Growing up in the US, I always thought it was so rude but after coming back to CZ, I found out it is rather common here, although younger generations are more modest and undress less at home. I have a Czech girlfriend, who had me stay the night before her wedding at her parents house in a village north of Prague - that night she walked around the house only in her undies and bra..... Healthcare - am so glad, you brought up nudity at the doctor's office and the differences between Cz and USA - I think that alot has to do with finances in CZ - just thinking about all the money that those paper gowns that get thrown out must cost and so many Americans who cannot afford health insurance - no gown in the world will improve the quality of the care provided - those gowns are a luxury that many Americans cannot even afford - I mean in the USA, first a medical assistant takes you into a room, where a patient then changes and then waits for the doctor and then when the doctor leaves the patient gets dressed (more square feet of space that have to be paid for, heated, etc.). When I go to the doctor in CZ, I wear a loose shirt and loose skirt if it is warm enough. I remember when my grandmother was in the hospital in a room with 3 beds and no curtains between beds - she couldnt walk to the bathroom with a cast on her leg, so she just popped of the bed onto the mobile-toilet next to her bed, did what was needed and that was that.... no shaming, just basic human needs.

I am Czech living in Norway - and I have to say both countries have a similar culture regarding nudity (well, maybe Czechs are even more benevolent). My family was hosting an exchange student from France one semester, and one day he came home utterly shocked. He and his Norwegian friends were hiking in the forrest and they came to a nice little lake. Because it was hot summer (as hot as it can get here), his friends just threw their clothes and jumped in :-D The poor French student was talking about this for many days, and told me that in France when kids have gym or if people go to swimming pool, you never shower completely naked. Either in their swimsuit or even underwear or they don't shower at all. That was the first time I heard something like this about France, I had the impression they were pretty casual about nudity there. Maybe it was just the region he came from, I don't know. I was glad that for the period of time he was staying with us I refrained from sleeping naked as I usually do because I just don't toletare the fabric of the pysjamas. Think of the shock he might get if he met me in the corridor going to the bathroom at night 🤣😅

U Američanů se moc nedivím, nedávná diskuze, která probíhala na malém discord serveru s mezinárodní populací, mě utvrdila v tom, že všechno je špatně a všechno je může urážet. Jednalo se o upravení pravidel ohledně NSFW obsahu, kde se nám Američanka snažila vnutit, že pro děti (DS je od 13, vstup na server máme omezený podle věku, který se zadává speciálně po příchodu na server) je nevhodná jakákoliv konverzace, která obsahuje zmínky o: sexuálních tématech, nahotě (tohle jsme vzali), alkoholu (protest od všech z Evropy, nejvíc od Rusů), ale i kávě, energy drincích, pohlaví (včetně oslovování on/ona), náboženství (např. zvolání proboha), jakákoliv zmínka barvy (nemuselo se jednat o kůži), vojenství a zbraních (partička kluků si tam ukazovala modely vojenských letadel) a dalších věcí, které všem kromě ní připadali běžné. Zpátky dostala dosti nechápavých reakcí, hodně nadávek v několika jazycích a já jí nechala prozkoumat, co znamená piktogram "crystal and line"(její popis, česky vylepšený kosočtvereč). Z průzkumu internetu se vrátila zděšená, nechala si všechny urážky přeložit. Po 5 dnech se nám ozvala, že si našla informace o žití v Evropě. A že nikdo z nás nemůže být mentálně normální. Uráželo jí i legální pití od 18 let.

Z takového serveru bych se okamžitě odhlásil. Progresivistické pokrytectví. Doufám, že se to k nám nedostane a že to je jen krátkodobý úlet, který po pár letech zmizí ze světa. Jsem ON, MUŽ, Radek. A nesnáším tzv. "budovatele rájů na Zemi" jak jim říkám, protože pokud se dostanou k moci, nechávají za sebou miliony mrtvých.

Hi Jen, you sure picked a thought-provoking topic this week. Just look at the comments! It's intriguing that dirty public restrooms are the reason for turning other places to the same, as someone here explained. We used to go skinny dipping as students, but I still had to get used to all women being topless in Sweden back in the eighties, even in indoors pools in the winter. I remember young girls there clearly adding the sexual undertone to what they were putting on display, but I didn't complain. You certainly captured the difference well in your response to one comment, California being about looking sexy, while Czechia not being bothered about others to a fault. I'd add that Czechs share a very similar background, while Americans are a mosaic of cultures and customs from every corner of the world. If our freedom ends where someone else's begins, we end up looking more restrictive while trying to respect everyone's sensitivity and freedom.

Momentálně brigádničím v očkovacím centru :D :D :D a příjde mi moc vtipné jak si muži i ženy (především muži) svlékají celý vršek i tričko, prostě všechno :D :D i když jim sestřička řekne, že si jen stačí vyhrnout rukáv. Chápu, že některé kusy oblečení neumožňují si rukáv vyhrnout :D ale i tak je to mazec. Vždycky se u toho moc pobavím a přemýšlím, co se těm lidem honí hlavou. Pozřete, sestry, mé krásné tělo. Taková ta česká sebevědomost.
Nic proti tomu nemám a je mi to buřt, ale baví mě to.

@@GregoryDanese :-D jááj tak tohle mě pobavilo jak dlouho nic bo jako bych v tom viděl sebe :-D šel jsem nekam na kontrolu a sestra říká "tak se vyslečte" a ja tak jak píšete- odhodhodil svršek pomalu šel do trenek, ale tam měuž sestra zastavila že kalhoty není třeba sundvat a že triko stačilo vyhrnout :-D no a po pravdě nevím co se mi honilo hlavou. jako nemusíte věřit, ale opravdu to nebylo tak jak by si někteří mohli myslet že bych se chtěl zalíbit sestře či doktorce. tak to není, mám sebereflexi a na břiše místo buchet řádně nakinutý mazanec. prostě v takých situacích (trochu v obavách, pod stresem,srachem) sotva vnímám, jedu na autopilota a tak když slyším pokyn vysléknout tak se vyslíkám :-)

Super video, je fajn vidět, jak to vidí jiní. I happen to be a lot less relaxed about nudity then most Czechs (at least the ones you know) and don't feel very comfortable for example in shared showers, but there are a lot of things I just kind of accept as they are, probably because I grew up surrounded by them. For instance I dont mind undressing in front of physicians or barely dressed people sunbathing in parks.
opět zajímavé video, je fajn slyšet rozdíly v přístupu k nahotě v odlišných zemích. super.. co se týče toho bydlení, tak za nás (mě a mou lepší polovičku) pokud nečekáme návštěvu, jsme tak jak nás příroda stvořila. oblékáme se jen když vyrážíme z bytu.

I remembered the RUclipsr NALF's story about his first visit in the German sauna :) And the the shocked face of my American travel buddy when we shared one room on our trip and wanted to choose the comfortable way of being in the room just in the underpants :D I appreaciate the much more relaxed Czech attitude towards nudity.
Loved your video! Have to admit it gave me an idea of how Americans see this. Because as a Czech, this is normal for me. However my boyfriend is American and this even lead to one of our first fights, because he couldn't understand that I'll walk around garden not fully clothed (I had a t-shirt and underwear so didn't see any problem with it😅). I'm Czech and I don't like to get naked in front of strangers, too. Open showers at public pools are the worst and I don't think I should ever go to a sauna :-D I'm not from Prague and I was surprised to hear that people are allowed to get naked in public by the river and so, I didn't know that :D Peeing in public is... common, but not what I like to see. Apart from that, yeah, it's kinda normal that men wear underwear at home and sometimes even outside :D I've heard that in one or some states in America it's prohibited to walk around naked even at your home. That's something you would read in a newspaper in Czechia, because it sounds crazy to us :D
