Wonderful collection. My Granddad drove those trams, and I am 82 years young now. He passed away too young in 1942. aged 62. Many thanks for sharing these. They have evoked wonderful memories from my childhood and and right up to the present day where a daughter lives at the south side of London Fields. I will always love Hackney. A great Aunt had a shop there in the early 1900s too. You can't beat the East End of London for the character of the place and many born and raised there, Cockneys through and through.
Born in Hackney and as a boy use to collect the cups for the tea house on Clapton Common. I have been living in Australia for 55 Years now and these photos brought back a lot of great memories Thank you Brian
The LEB in Lower Clapton..haha. I bought my first fridge freezer from them in 1981 when I was 18. Felt so grown up with my own flat and new fridge. Happy days👍
Absolutely amazing. I am 80 years old and grew up in Cazenove Rd and then after marriage in 1964, lived for many years in Osbaldeston Rd, until we moved to a flat in Stamford Hill, 16 years ago. I wonder how you managed to collect these beautiful pictures. I remember the party just after the war in Cazenove Rd, with hundreds of tables. I still remember a show there with a woman in a box, pretending to be sawed in half.
I've lived in Homerton for nearly 45 years. Some of these images gave me a lump in the throat and brought back some beautiful memories. 'I'm from Hackney', I'll always be able to say that! Absolutely brilliant video mate, you took me there mate!
Hackney born and bred also. Great photos thanks for uploading. I grew up just off lower Clapton road. So many changes to what was a brilliant place growing up. Then the drugs and badness just took over which once was a brilliant place. The whole of the east end will never be the same. Oh well. Thanks for the video.
Ain't it funny how time just slip away from yesterday, Looking into the pass and seeing how time's have moved on in these picture and all those that have pave the way for us all gone and the music in the background surly make your tears falls as your heart beat faster.

I was about 2 years old (@1968), moved to Fawcett Estate, Upper Clacton Road, just up from Clapton Common... what a playful childhood I had. Went to Harrington Hill primary school, Springfield Boys Club too. Great memories looking back at these photos. Thank you Brian for the upload 😊
I lived off Upper Clapton Road (Mount Pleasant hill) for a few years, down near the woodyard along from the Hope & Anchor when Les M.B.E. ran it, would watch the narrow boats pass by, walk along the toe-path to the marina, walk across the marshes before they were drained for the Olympics, its a great part of London full of interesting places and people, many of the buildings in the old photos were still there when I was there in late 1980s-1990s, Clapton pond was full of shopping trolleys and McDonalds rubbish with the odd duck,
Marvellous, especially in these times. Born in Hackney hospital 1957, grew up in Birchington house, pembury estate until 1974, then Chatham place. The nags head on Hackney road and the three sisters, I would not change a thing. Thanks for posting.
I lived in Elderfield Road from 64 to 94. Elderfield Road was off Chatsworth Road and we used to do all our shopping there. Brings back great memories.
I was born in Hackney and lived in Daubeney Road - not far from Hackney Marshes. As a boy I played, with many others, in the abandoned Anti Aircraft emplacements on Hackney Marshes near Temple Mills Marshaling Yard. Had my first piano lesson with Miss Jones in Elderfield Road at 1/6d for half a hour. Many very happy memories.

I'm from Hackney and I disagree. Keeping up with all the changes can be difficult for us oldies but it's worth the effort because, otherwise, we just turn into grumpy old gits.
