I bought my Panerai in 2007. Even though it it had none of the symptoms Federico mentioned above, I brought it into the NYC Madison Ave. boutique for service in 2017. Just to be proactive and a good owner. One year later, it has a gritty watch wind and power reserve is just a few hours. What happened? It's was only 1 year! Now it's rarely in my wear rotation.
Federico, I heard that in order to use the Timegrapher correctly, you need first knowing and adjusting some parameters to your specific watch speed, so that the Timegrapher is giving you real results instead of standard not accurate (so you would need to adjust the timegrapher to every single watch); I just do not remember which parameter/s they were exactly. Would you know? Thank you!
Well timed topic fed. I rotate my watches quite regular. If only wear it a day or two the power reserve doesn’t last long at all if however I wear it say a week which is rare it seems to perk up and last longer. Is that normal? I hope it is otherwise I got a lot of watches to service?oh great content as usual
That is pretty normal but a good way to test it out is to wind them 40-50 times to make sure they are fully wound and then test the reserve by not wearing it for a couple of days.
Whatever you do don't send your watch to the Philippines for service, it'll come back powered by rubber bands and sealed with bubble gum. Send it to me, I have only 5 hours modding experience but already know which cooking oils are the best to keep the movement running, _it's clarified butter_
Well if you think about it, its a high beat rate movement with a limited edition higher beats rate 1/10th of a sec chronograph. The movement is under massive stress.
It's probably more of target than other watches, but I don't worry about it outside of the normal travel precautions I take. I just traveled to Germany through JFK and Frankfurt, on trains and through train stations in both NYC metro and Germany with my Portuguesier and Yachtmaster, and no issues. I'm more concerned about my wallet getting picked so I keep that in the front pocket.
When you wind you are actually going through the automatic gear set. Some movements tend to have more drag and will move the rotor when you wind. What movement is are you experiencing this?
Dmitry I’ve read about issues with Hamilton and their ETA-based modified movements. Not necessarily the issue you described, but it gave me enough pause to not consider purchasing a Hamilton. Allegedly their ETA-based watches perform better and have less issues.
Thanks for the tips. My Omega Seamaster has been losing time and I will definitely get it serviced.
What's the best way to tell my g-shock needs servicing?
Stops working
Fed. What an exceptionally logical and excellent summary, which I simply have never seen in one place and so succinct.

That is correct. Though 85% of watches use the same parameters.
Some good time there Fed, thank you. 😃
I was looking at that H Moser yesterday... tempted
Beautiful watches those Moser!!
Diego OG
Buy it. It’ll be gone.
Great information for everyone who owns a mechanical watch. I love those a bit more technical videos. Thank you.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing.
This guy is good... Real good. Nice video, Fed.
#6 It's a Maurice Lacroix with an A. Schild alarm movement
Can you advise on how to select a watchmaker to service your watch?
The expert has spoken 👏👏👌👌,good a very helpful video 👍👍
1 year datejust loose/slow 5-6 sec per day and never ever gain time.

Federico Talks Watches thanks fed will do,got a long weekend off so will test that idea.
Can you please name a few good timegraphers that I can choose from, for my personal use.
Just search for one on Amazon, there are good options around $150.
@@FedericoTalksWatches Thanks.Always look forward to your reviews, opinions and tit bits.

Good work Federico!
Could you tell us which watch needed a service within the first 2 years please Fed?
Zenith El Primero Striking 10th is one example off the top of my head.
@@FedericoTalksWatches oh wow! Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have expected it from Zenith.

@@FedericoTalksWatches makes sense, thank you sir
Do you think is dangerous to put on a Rolex while traveling? I heard a story the other day that people are getting robbed regularly in airports.
I travel with mine all the time.
With or without a watch, you should always be aware and safe at airports.
Also, never remove your watch going through security. People with sticky fingers are everywhere.

Good stuff to know!
Really pragmatic advice. Thanks Federico
Very helpful, thanks! More videos like this !
My automatic watch is accurately running. However every time I manually wind the watch the rotor starts to rotate. What causes that?

Lupică its the one year old Hamilton Field Khaki automatic. Their version of ETA called H704450.
When I first bought the watch it didn’t do that.

Your laugh always reminds me of Dr. Hibbert’s of the Simpsons. (A complement by the way)😊
is it time yet to make a watches in Music video with my showroom?
How is it noticed a watch is magnetized ?
Put it near a compass. Move it back and forth and see if the needle moves. Lepsi has a phone app (free I think) that tests for magnetism.
@@tombeatty4792 Thanks so much.
Just had my first service on my Coke after 18 years.
Rolex watches are very very durable.
My Vincero hasn't lost a second in over 3 months. Wear it to work and the crystal and timekeeping are still fine.
Boom
Thanks for watching!
I like something about you but can’t tell what
