..ouch... this one did feel a bit of a drag... good that you had your music... I do remember days like this from my own two caminos... but looking back, it was always worth it! I was lucky to not have had a deadline, when I had to be in Santiago, which was such a blessing to me! I also never booked a bed in advance, or took transport, because the freedom of stopping whenever I want, was too precious to me, and it always worked out.
A magical memory of mine: just before Logroño, I forgot my walking stick when pausing at a bench, and I decided not to walk back, trusting that I'll easily find the same kind again on the way... but wherever I looked for it, there was not any one like mine (for me not just 'any' stick will do - it needs to be the right one)... so I was a bit frustrated about that... after pausing at the stunning water reservoir right out of town and eventually walking on, there was a steep ascent, where I again stopped to fix a shoe... when I looked up, there was a stick exactly like my lost one, in the grass beside the path, and it even had carved in the name of the last owner, which was 'Joan' - mine is 'Jorn', and it looked almost the same - I happily took it, prepared to give it back, when meeting 'Joan', which never happened, so I walked with it to the very end. :)

Incredible story. The universe was surely looking out for you there, Jorn!

Wow, what an incredible story! Truly, moments like that seem beyond coincidences! Reflecting on it now, I completely agree that, despite the challenges, it was all worth it! In these videos, my perspective wasn't fully formed throughout the Camino, so I shared the raw thoughts I had at the time, while being really tired. Looking back, I wouldn't change anything and it was definitely all worth it in the end! 😊

    Hi Olive,
I’m from Australia, and did the Camino April 2023.
Really enjoying your videos, and get a real buzz when I see something I remember. It takes me straight back there.
The Meseta is better in April, I think. The crops are all green, it’s cooler…and no flies!
I finally decided to buy some walking sticks in Najera. Everyone else seemed to be using them, so I thought I’d join in.
    It was a great decision.

Thank you so much! 😊 The Meseta does, indeed, sound better in April. Thank you for sharing your experience with walking sticks. Since I was filming, I imagined it might have been more complicated with them, though my knees did suffer a bit without them.

I said you might just be crazy in my last comment. Now I know you are. 🤪Hell of a decision to walk it without rest days. Looking forward to next part of your Camino adventure.👏

Haha, turns out underestimating the backpack was the beginning of my learning curve. 😆 Lesson learned the hard way, but things did get better along the way. 😁

Those days are tough. You probably made mistakes that you may not have made if you were not tired and/or hungry. Keep smiling. Keep walking. You are getting there.
