I'm rewatching this now and i'm loving it all over again about to start Steins Gate 0. And the further you get the more you understand with this show.
It's good sub won the vote because it's just better.
while the quality of the dub voice actors is good, their lines have changed too much from the original, even to the point of the personalities changing. E.g. Okabe is not some street lingo punk kid, he's a nerd. There's a difference in the choice of language and dub dropped the ball on this one. The dub is also too Americanized, the localization went too far, you'd almost think the anime took place in the USA instead of Japan.
Most people who prefer dub actually prefer it BECAUSE of that change, they enjoy the street lingo, but that's just not Okabe.
So if you want the genuine Steins;Gate experience with the actual characters, sub is the way to go.
There's also the issue of the dub script just simply not holding up to the standard that was used. The standard seemed to be on stuff like comedy to find an english equivalent, but this was a complete failure. Star Trek Next Gen references are not the equivalent to anime references (and furthermore, many references were to anime more popular than Steins;Gate so it begs the question of if such a change was even needed). Reddit humor and culture is not equivalent to 2Chan, that would be 4Chan (who would have guessed).
17:22 the sub have amazing voice actors, but the dub has a good selection of word so it's easy for outsiders to understand, especially for people who don't know Japanese culture.
but in the end sub is the best choice
btw I've re-watched the sub and dub for steins gate many times so I know what's best.
I can't think anyone can beat Miyano Mamoru's portrayal of Okarin.

The Steins Gate Dub is amazing. The first time I prefer the Dub over the Sub
the Japanese voices are consistently better in this than the Dubs, with the dubs you're trading like 15 good to great performances for 2-3 great performances and, 3 middling ones, and several underwhelming ones from people who wouldn't act their way out of a paper bag.

It's always best to watch the subbed. I will never understand why people think the dubbed is better. There are very good dubs out there, but they are by no means better. There is one exception to this though and that would be Ghost Stories. There is a whole ass reason for that that I won't go into lol.
For me I usually watch sub, since I usually watch shows when they come out. With older shows I tend to watch the first episode both in sub and dub to chose which one I like best.
Usually I think either sub is better, or both are fine, but there are a few where I just think the dub is the better way to experience it. The only ones that IMO should always be seen in dub is FMA:B and ghost stories.
Hope you don't get bored because the show only start picking up in the second half.

19:01 I think that's a FACT on the argument between sub and dub. If a series, anime, or tv show is made in a different langue than yours. It'll sounds better in the original sound. That's why I stop watching American movies in Spanish and have some Spanish or English sub.
yes, if Im watching an indian movies, I will watch it in indian language with english subtitles.
Ok you may not gonna see this but please, dont skipped the openings and endings.
He explained in the stream that he has to. I think he said he would have to remove them anyways because of copyright.
@@freakcan but i hope he's not always skipped the openings or endings when he watching anime alone. But he can mute the stream tho or talk over it with discussion. the openings and endings is part of the experience too.

dub is better for beginner,sub have way better voice actor but if you dont have context about the comedy,you will confused
I'm someone who loves sub over dub anyday. But in Steins;gate dubbed okabe's VA actually did a masterful job. I think it's actually better for him and for any beginner. Specially the dub makes okabe's mad-scientist mask very clear.
