  • How to line your serato sample slices up with the drum rack. This will make using ableton push or a launch pad a little more manageable as you wont need to comb through scale or keyboard mode to find where your slices are.
Serato Sample is a versatile software sampler that combines cutting-edge audio manipulation tools with an intuitive and user-friendly interface. It's designed for beatmakers, producers, and DJs who want to create unique sounds and enhance their musical workflow. One of the key features of Serato Sample is its real-time audio separation technology, which allows you to isolate individual stems (vocals, bass, drums, and melody) from existing audio tracks. This feature is powered by machine learning and delivers impressive sound quality, making it easy to create remixes, mashups, and sample-based compositions.
Ableton Live is a digital audio workstation (DAW) for macOS and Windows developed by Ableton. It is a popular choice for electronic music producers, DJs, and live performers due to its non-linear and improvisational approach to music creation. Ableton Live is known for its intuitive interface and its ability to combine audio and MIDI recording, editing, and effects processing in a single environment. It also features a powerful Session View, which allows users to arrange and trigger clips of audio, MIDI, and effects in real time. This makes Ableton Live an ideal tool for live performance and improvisation.

Love this trick! If only there was an easy way to use Serato first (for the stem separation and chopping), and ACTUALLY have the chops in the drum rack (rather than the rack signal Serato to play the corresponding chop). This way you could color-code the pads to keep track of all your chops and save the racks for later use. I also often have issues with reopening files with Serato Sample 2 in them. I have to be super careful to label the source sample because I get an error every time where the slice markers are still there but Serato hits me with the “sample file cannot be located”. From what I can tell, there is absolutely no way to export the chops from Serrato.

Aside from the amazing stem separation and much better UI, Simpler is just objectively better (for chopping up longer samples in Ableton) than Serato Sample 2. I also dig how Serato shows the samples key within the plugin. But all that does is save me from using a key detection plugin.
TLDR- unless I need stems separated, I go with the Simpler in a Drum Rack method every time.

true I tend to lean the same way especially when I cant for the life of me get serato to not lose the sample when I reload the project.

@@re-sampled I know exactly what you're talking about and I haven't found a solution, either other than just being very diligent with my file naming. I always make sure that I name the track going into Cerrado in such a way that I can relocate it, drag, and drop it back into the plug-in, and then, at that point it reloads, as if nothing was wrong. Honestly, these days I'm more and more leaning towards just using a different stem separator and Simpler on a drum rack. It may not have the pretty user interface, but it sure is 10 times more functional
