No, it doesn't go unnoticed. People who love this music will always enjoy listening to these masterpieces. We are lucky so much is registered, downloaded. This beauty will never be lost. It makes our life on this Earth much more bearable.
What a pleasure to see these wonderful artists ...here they were still young...I saw them both live in concert...I love them very much...they were also very clever and kind persons...
The tender loving care of the musicians for the composer and his great love for the cello is tangible in every sense: something sacred becomes immortal in such play.
Jahrhundert!
This is one of the most inspired works of the so-called "first manner" of Beethoven. In addition, the two sonatas op. 5 are the first ones fior cello and piano in the history of music where the cello takes its independance ( not speaking of the sonatas for harpsichord and viola di gamba of JSB, of course). We have a very beutiful rendering , very deep and sensitive, by Rostropovitch and Richter. I understand those who find the rondo too fast, but this is an interesting and very beethovenian contrast with the opening slow and meditative movement.
Actually I find other recordings of the Rondo too slow, since I first was exposed to it from Rostropovich. There's a time for slow, but the Rondo doesn't seem to be the time for it.
When children are exposed at a young age to this type of music, as part of their natural environment, then they can appreciate it. I did, I do and I hope so do my children, age 16 and 22.
What an event this must have been for Edinburgh audiences. Two artistic giants at their peak coming together in perfect accord, one can only sit back and marvel.
Obrigado por postar composição de um gênio executada por dois dos maiores intérpretes. Há muito tempo ouço o LP da Philips desta interpretação. Fantástico!
was amazed by the first cello sonata recently. It felt like one continuous 20 minute long melody. First track on this dvd. The other sonatas do not make as amazing an impression.
so, why are some of the best musicians from Russia? Horowitz....Heifetz, Rostropovich, Richter it is so sad that people aren't aware of real music. I once let a kid in the Congo listen to my Ipod (Glen Gould playing Back)...the look on that kid's face was marvelous
All right, but don'' go too emotional. Tomorrow uou'll wake up, habe your brunch, go out and buy your things and step in a dog's turd, as always. Don't worry. Just enjoy. ❤
How can they play the Rondo so fast? I've played that sonata and that movement is the hardest. In my opinion, it should be a little bit slower. The Rondo can be played with so many colours!! And I think, because of the tempo here, can't be heard as it should be (:!
I disagree, for me this is wonderfully spirited playing with supreme technical control, Richter's dexterity is truly phenomenal. The tempo in controversially fast but these amazing musicians make it work.

For cellist like me and I would say most, these performances are like a Bible! A fountain of inspiration.

Fantastic!! I think it's a shame that the majority of humans alive have never experienced a performance such as this one.And it goes unnoticed
Most people wouldn’t like it.. they can’t feel/understand this music

A nonpareil performance by two incomparable artists.
Merci pour cette splendeur.
I totally agree with Raplh. What more can be said? Beautiful communion between the players and the composer. Viva!
Most amazing performance but two legends.
This is simply majestic.

who is the pianist?
Richter?
If you're unaware of who Richter was?. He was universally considered to be one of the very greatest pianists of the 20th Century.

Both Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union held classical music to be the epitome of Russian culture.

罗斯特罗波维奇的揉弦真是叹为观止,可惜第三乐章的失误有点多。

Mais qu'attendent les hystériques pour bannir le Russe Rostropovich ? Le monde est devenu fou, reste seule la musique pour nous sauver.
