no, thanks!
Just seen this as i have got to say Ava is sooooo cute. It sounds to me like Ava is teething atm. My advice would be is to get her carrots and chop the into long chunky strips and put them in the freezer for her to chew on. I promise that they will be come your best friend. Xx
She's so cute and loveable😍...she will cry 😢when you leave...she's howling so cool😎 no don't ignore her.
I can highly recommend a company called www.natural-treats.co.uk - they make all their own treats in the UK and are always excellent quality. The mixed grill platter is great for trying a variety of the items and she'll probably love a pigs hoof, keeps them busy for AGES! Much cheaper than pets at home too :)
Joel Wood avoid “rawhide” bones at all cost.
Word of warning, never teach your dog to howl. When you leave her alone when you go out, she will howl the house down and people living around you will complain about the noise. This happened to me years ago.
Yes agreed no howling lesson or it will drives you and neighbors crazy for the rest of your life. This is critical time to teach her what is appropriate and what is not.
My ex thought it was hilarious to hold the puppy up to flick the light switch with his paw. Less hilarious when he was a fully grown bearded collie who could stand on his hind legs and reach the light switch himself.
I have two dogs next door and they fence line is less than 2 feet from my house, I can do anything without them barking, all day long. I love my neighbors and I haven't said anything but it get so dam annoying. I'm in a real pickle.
@@patstokes3615 I would go to then with some food and eventually they will be happy to see you because you might have food. The dogs that is, not the neighbors lol.
The people next to me moved in about a month ago. They have some little dog who starts howling around 10:00 every morning and doesn't stop until late in the afternoon (probably when the owner comes home from work).
Normally I would try (can't, too loud) to ignore it but I can't. I've developed a bone disease and need more sleep than I used to. Wish I didn't have this dilemma. I love dogs and don't want to see them hurt.
I got my Springer at 10 weeks in August 2020 and I have had a lot of dogs in my life, but nothing prepared me for the stress the little guy gave me. Actually, he was great as far as house training, but he was a nightmare with his biting and his sharp little claws. I tried all the tricks and nothing worked. I was really at my wit's end, My arms were full of scratches and bites. Eventually he slowly got better and better and now at 3 and half he is pretty normal. He play bites with me but it never hurts. I am telling you this though to encourage those in similar situations to stick it out if they can. However, if I had little children at the time, I don't think I could have kept him. Now he is the love of my life but what a time it was. Whew!
That's exactly what it's like to be a parent, lol. They're annoying and exhausting and you love them more than anything.
One has to be somewhat less self absorbed to achieve this! You probably get a👍-Him a?
It's not at all "like being a parent" ... It IS BEING A PARENT! 😋
God, I wish I had kids like yours if they are this easy!
You're gonna regret that howling!! Lolol
Nichole Calkins I think the same!! Lol
Well can’t you teach a dog to not bark by teaching it to bark? He could do the same with the howling? I think that that’s what I heard but I don’t know that it’s true.
@@chefevilee9566 you teach them "when" to bark.
Absolutely don’t encourage the howling !
Lol! I used to have a beagles!
When we took our Golden Retriever puppy to training they taught us an invaluable lesson. One of many.
Use 3 types/pitches of voice. High voice for praise. Medium level for commands and a gruff low voice for disapproval. It really works. Thx so much Joel for showing your caring, loving relationship with your puppy. So gorgeous!
She is just so beautiful and I’m envious. I’ve had five black cocker spaniels in my lifetime and loved them all. They have all been wonderful companions and very faithful. Now I’m 75 and in a Retirement Village and not allowed to have pets, so no more dogs. Makes me very sad. I’m sure little Ava will give you many years of love and companionship.
That’s a shame, no more doggies 🥰
It makes me so happy to see you're so educated with her training. Teaching her the basic commands (sit, come, etc.) so young, and GETTING HER SOCIALIZED! It's so very important to get your dog socialized with people and dogs, so many people don't and it causes real big problems when they get older and bigger :(
Also I have a special place in my heart for Cockers after my first dog, Chrissy
@Joel Wood You just taught your puppy how to Howl (too get your attention). The neighbors are really gonna luv that later tonight.
Ava is a beautiful puppy. Congratulations on bringing her home.
Stay happy healthy and safe. Enjoy.
That baby is looking up at you like you are EVERYTHING! SOOOO CUTE.
Very happy for you Joel! And Lucy! And sweet, sweet Ava!
"As an introvert, I'm like, ugh, leave me alone." I understood how he felt all the way to my soul. 😔
I know that feeling!!
Me 2
She’s such a sweetheart! 🥰
You are doing a terrific job training her early. She’s such a smart girl.... you seemed to have picked the best out of the bunch !! 😉😊🐶
She’s SO adorable she looks like she could be a Disney character. 💕✨
yeah she's cute!!!
Joel, I totally empathize with you. When I decided to get a dog years ago, my sister warned me not to get a puppy, but she was so cute that I didn't listen and immediately regretted it. They are SO much work! However, now my Sophie is grown and such a good girl. I wouldn't trade her for the world! Don't give up. Ava is such a sweet and smart puppy! ❤
Melinda Salinas I totally totally hear you. Puppies are really really hard work. It’s like having a baby. Exhausting frustrating and v v tough. But trust me they grow up and grow out of the all those tough stages. Adolescences can be v v tough too where you will feel like you have literally gone backwards as they get rebellious and haywire but they grow out of it and they will love you forever x 💕💕. Be v v proud because you are doing an awesome job and she is just heart melting x I have an 11 month old border collie who we had at 10 weeks and he has had me literally on my knees with frustration most days but I wouldn’t swap him for the world x 💕😂😂🐶🐶🐶
Your puppy is a little beauty!! Just think, you are going to be her person for years. That's soooo great! I used to tell my kids that every puppy needs a person to be theirs, you know, that belongs to them. When they find their very own person they will give 110% of themselves for the rest of their life. Lovely that you found each other!
She is such a cuddly bundle of JOY!!! I'm in LOVE!!
Hi Joel, To help Ava, with Separation anxiety when you leave her "put something with your Scent on it in her Crate." i.e. (Shirt from night before or something that smells like you) and something you don't care about if, She ruins it. ALL My Cockerspaniels, did really well with that trick. Also, don't make a BIG deal of leaving. You can say "Ava, Daddy will be back in a few minutes!" Then leave but when you return "Praise her" for being " So good & Brave!" Everytime!
She's just the Cutest Baby♥️😘 Blessings to You & Ava,
Piper, from Oklahoma
P.S. Turn on the TV or Radio, when you leave her, it helps her not feel alone!
RIGHT!
@@tanyamckinnon5376 Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and your family,
Piper
I also overheard the trainer tell my sister that you should leave a dog quietly and only make a fuss when you come back and re enter the residence to lessen separation anxiety.
@@gwillis01 I've never heard that but I will have try it. Thanks.
Merry Christmas to you,
Piper
All the trainers I've spoke to about leaving a dog alone is to not fuss them when u get back. This is because while ur out the house, they're looking forward to u coming home as they get a big fuss or treats. This makes them more likely to start pacing/howling/barking in anticipation. I guess both methods work but it's good to have another way of training them if ur having trouble. Also it's handy to leave ur phone on record so u can hear if they're barking or not when u first start doing this.
My dog loved the hairdryer, especially when he came in out of the rain. Yes, start now but don't blow it on or near her face and be careful of the temperature.
Okay cool, thanks Bob!
Joel Wood - I don't understand this whole thing of wanting to 'blow dry' your dog, but whatever.
I live by the sea and between it, the showers and the rain, the dogs are often wet as much as not. We give them a good rub down with a towel and they love it, but that it is.
We have a blow dryer, that barely gets used at all, but certainly not on the dogs. Nothing wrong with idea, it's just that we never thought of it, nor can I imagine being bothered to do it, as it would be a sort of endless pursuit of what will happen naturally enough, soon enough.
Nearly every day the dogs are wet once or twice, and If I were to blow dry them every time, that'd take a good chunk out of my week. They love to be toweled off, in fact they fight for it, and it really can do quite a good job at drying them off, and it only takes a few minutes, combined.
I don't understand the need or want of blow drying your dog, but that's your choice. Yes, it makes sense to break her into it at a young age.
My dog loves the blow dryer to. He literally expects it now after he gets bathed. Lol
Not sure who is more adorable. You or Ava. It so sweet how much you love her.
Welcome to parenthood! They’ll melt your heart one minute & annoy you the next. That sweet face is worth every minute.❤️
Having a puppy is HARD WORK...however, they are days you look back on with such enjoyment....take as many pics and videos as you can....love on her...she's really special...beautiful and smart!!!
Oh my gosh Joel, she is so smart!! My “puppy” Tawny is now 14, and seeing you with Ava is bringing back so many memories!! All they want to do is love you, and they’re so good at it!! ❤️🐶❤️
Ava is a good girl. She is very smart. She'll have you trained in no time😁You are becoming a good Dad. Wishing you many years of love and happiness with Ava. She is going to love opening Christmas presents 😊🎅🎄
She is SO adorable!!! Know she is such a joy!
how’d you get that image next to your username?
Her howling with you was so cute!!! But... you may regret teaching her that, when she starts doing it in the middle of the night! 🤣
She fur looks like it is very silky.
Some friendly advice, dont give her attention when she whines etc as it will make her very needy. If she is not left alone for short periods of time to get used to her own company, she is not going to cope when you do have to leave her. She will become top dependent on you which might sound nice (for you), however it's very unhealthy for a dog. She should be happy to be with you, however she should be happy on her own as well for a while. If you dont get her used to that and encourage this dependency on you, both of you are going to have a very serious problem as she gets older. No offence, just some friendly advice from someone who has owned dogs for over 30 years
debbie peter that bad advise , she a baby and that what cockers do. She just wants attention and needs to reinsurance. Any good dog trainer would tell you the same , she is very young ,
@@brendaogara2543 Yes, and tbe constant need for attention can remain in adulthood which is bad for the dog and owner. Dogs and puppies need attention, however, they should also learn to be happy or at least content on their own as well. Otherwise you will end up with a dog who gets separation anxiety every time he /she isn't with the owner. Why the hell would you want that to happen to a dog?
CN I ask you if you own or ever had own a cocker spaniel? Anyone who has a cocker understand they wine . But they are so loving , and they are very sensitive dog. Not like other breeds
@@brendaogara2543 Yes they do wine, I have been around them. However, they still need to be happy to be on their own. You have got to be hard at times but that makes it easier for the dog in the long term. My aunt had a cocker and because he was babied all the time and was given attention every single time he cried etc, they couldnt leave him alone in the house even for a minute as he became anxious. This is in the owner who made the mistake and now the dog is paying the price. Sorry if you disagree, however, a dog too dependent on its owner will suffer. Owners may like being their dogs "everything", however it's not healthy for any dog, including cockers.
Brenda OGara lmao ur wrong
My goodness Ava is the cutest thing ever... What a good girl!! And you're really good dad too.
Knew you would do a great job, such a short period of time really impressive. Ava is one lucky little puppy.
Thanks for sharing
Aw thanks Brenda!!
Awww, Ava melted our hearts! She is so lovely and sweet. You're a great puppy daddy. Tyfs.
You are such a loving dad, Joel ❤️
I'm getting kind of teary eyed watching the precious puppy :') I lost my black cocker spaniel last year in August. He was around 18 years old. I miss him everyday. He had the same white stripes on his neck as the puppy!
You’re such a good doggie daddy!
Joel I’m so excited about your new adventures with Ava. If you have never seen the vlogs Eight Miles from Home they have a black cocker spaniel and she has traveled the world with them! From Thailand to Portugal. Beautiful creatures!
I know this is a month old but when washing her ears, ALWAYS dry the inside of her ears. Try and not get the insides wet but if you do just make sure you dry them. Due to having long ears they don’t get air to them to air dry and then it causes them to smell really bad and can get infections and all that!
Awwww… baby Ava! ❤ I don’t know why this old video came up in my feed when I already watched it years ago when it originally posted but I’m not mad about it. 😍
Tell her “drop it” when she fetches. Don’t pull it out of her mouth; she’ll think it’s play time. Can do tugawar at other play time, but not during fetch.
Good tip!! Thank you
That's what our trainer told us.
I was just going to say basically the same thing. The only difference is we were told not to let them 'win' in tug war, cuz 'we' are the Alphas.
pooh@22 - I very much agree with that, but I would add, that I wouldn't do it quite that way.
To my mind, 'drop' should be a separate command, not associated with play. So in terms of 'fetch', I would say, very casually, 'If you want me to throw it, you'll have to give it me'. I know that sounds long winded, and it is, but the dog knew what I meant by it, which is the point.
Of course I would never try to take a toy from a dog's mouth, unless I was looking for a tug game, which I would announce to the dog.
This is why I would reserve the command of 'Drop', for other occasions. It means, as for whatever reason, the game is now over, so just drop it. I will not throw it, I will not admonish you, but just do it, for whatever reason I need it to be done, which there is usually a cause for, not always understood by the dog, but it doesn't need to be. It just needs to be dropped. It's a command I would save for when I really needed it, and not just in a game.
Now, once the dog drops it, you might give it some praise, if not a treat, but the game is over. You pick it up, put it away, where ever, but that is the end of the story. There is no 'fetch' after the 'Drop' command, until you, as alpha, engage otherwise.
Diana Yard, no sorry it’s the opposite you both take turns winning, but definitely the dog must win most of the time, otherwise they won’t continue to play since they will find it boring. In my opinion RUclipsr, Robert Cabral is an experienced Dog Trainer. I’ve learned lots watching his videos 🙏❤️
Genuine love! I am exactly like you, adore my dog! I love the process of making special bonds between human and non-human. You are born to be wonderful dad Joel ❤️
I recently got a puppy and it's the hardest thing having to ignore her cries. When we were crate training her everytime we closed the door she would cry but we couldn't let her out since we were teaching her that shes not going to be able to come out if she cries. It only took a few days and I'm so glad she loves her crate now
You two are so perfectly bonded!🤗🐾♥️
I've had such a sh** day. Ava made it all better 🥰❤❤❤❤
Aww that's good! Hope tomorrow is better
We’re getting our first puppy in a couple of weeks and this was really helpful! Ava is beautiful and clearly very clever and loves to learn. And loves you!
What a darling little dog Dont she just melt your heart.
How CUTE is THAT...she 'howls'! She's soooo cute, Joel💕🐾🐕!!
Joel... DAHling... it's a difficult task but you mustn't let yourself create a needy pet because when you leave, she'll be frightened, anxious and eventually quite destructive. It's called separation anxiety. Play time is essential. Meal time is important to share. When she eats, you eat. These moments reassure her you're both part of the same pack. Try not to allow her to always be on you. Save those moments for specific times of day. You can pay attention to her but physical cuddling is best before bedtime and upon returning home for a period of time. Try not to make a big deal of your return home. Even ignore her for the first few minutes. Never let her lead you. You lead her. You enter the house first, then her. Lead train her immediately. Don't carry her around. Potty training is the most important thing right now. Take an empty soda can, add some coins or small rocks and watch her carefully. If she looks like she's going to pee, shake that can and say firmly, "EVA NO!" When doing this always use her name. You're not going to harm her with this. You're teaching her to listen when you speak. Don't let her cuteness become her super power over you. She'll learn to respect you more and the home.
What a good little Ava 🐶 Joel puppies are a lot of work just like a toddler. Keep up the work and the love. You are right remember these days as they go fast
You could call the series “Ava’s Escapades”💜💜💜🙂🙂🐕🐕
hahah that's a good name!
The biting and going mental is something's puppies do. I have a new puppy and at 6 month he's still working through some of these behavioral issues. Ava will get through it. Your patience, and you're going to need lots, will be rewarded.
I love the way she looks at you! Talk about pure, unconditional love. However, you may never again be able to go to the bathroom alone. LOL 😊🐾❤️
Ava will totally chill eventually. These puppy stages are hard work! When our dog was a pup, we decided to stop crating him when we were gone. Just little bits here and there. One night he was left out for quite a while. We were at the hospital with my mom while she was passing. We came home to find about a 4x4 foot area of carpet ripped back, all of the way to the plywood. It happened another time after that when he somehow locked himself in a bedroom with the cat. I remember wanting to get rid of him because I was so frustrated and he was my first puppy. Fast forward 7 years, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE him soooo much! He's such a good boy.
It is quite funny for me as someone who has been a stay-at-home mom to hear/see you going through so much of what I experienced with babies and toddlers. Ava is such a joy! Absolutely do videos including training, products, etc. The haul explanation was quite helpful because you showed the problems and possible solutions. I will be interested to hear your reviews on how well those products work for you.
Okay that's good to know, I'll do that, thanks DanaLou!
She's so cute! I can't believe how quickly she's learned to sit, etc. Smart girl!
She's lovely, very at home with you, touches my heart: glad you gave her a good home ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You’re such a good dog parent, Joel! It’s just like being a human parent to babies, but you can’t leave them alone when they’re young and escape! 😂 I need your help with teaching my puppy to come to me! He just won’t do it!!!!Enjoy Puppy Ava! Puppies are so yummy!!!!! 💕🐶💕🐶
I love howling with my dogs! I taught my pups when they were 3 weeks or so. Ava is adorable!
Awwwww, she is just the cutest little thing. I love her to pieces and I haven't even held her. I really like the way you are loving her so much. She will be your best friend. You made a great choice when you chose her. Thank you for sharing her with us.
When you and Ava were howling my cat gave the ipad the filthiest look. 😆
You've perfectly described being a parent LOL. That's why people say that they're so cute when they're asleep. She's a smart girl and she's catching on pretty quickly. We had a rescue that took ages to learn not to bite faces so I relate. She still forgets to close her mouth and bites instead of kisses. She gets us once in a while but being a parent is totally worth it.
Definitely hooked on the Puppy Diaries❤️. You’re taking your dog dad responsibilities very seriously, you should be a dog trainer.
I'd love that!!
@@TheJoelWood - as to a trainer, not yet man. Hold tight until you've done it.
Oh jeeze.Ava is absolutely adorable!!!
When I rescued my puppy about 10 years ago ...
The rescue agency sent someone over for a "home visit" to tell you things like don't have computer wires down on the floor.
But the guy told me the best advice. He very deliberately said, "I want you to know that there will absolutely come a day when all you are thinking is ... WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?!"
It was such a relief when I would get frustrated to just remind myself... oh, right this is what that guy was talking about.
It is very easy to rescue a puppy... it just requires plenty of patience. Puppies are usually at breed specific rescue agencies. In US every breed has a rescue and that is where you should search for a rescue and if you are patient and persistent you can get a puppy.
Thanks for training her!...the time you spend on proper behavior training is time WELL spent Joel! You both will reap the benefits for years to come! She is awesome!...Enjoy
She feels loved and secure
OH my goodness! Happy tears when she started howling....she is adorable xo🐶
You should get a big bell and hang it on the door you take her out from.....ring it when you take her out...and she will learn how to ring it herself letting you know she wants to go out :) She is beautiful and looks to be very sweet :) Now is THE best time to get a big bell.....i would send you mine but you need it immediately for training her.
OMG. I had a Cockers Spaniel, black like yours. they are stubborn and super cute!!
She knows she’s loved and feels secure
Cockers are the best and Ava is so adorable. Keep up being such a good dog daddy.
A housebreaking suggestion is to take her out approximately every 2 hours initially to pee and/or poop so that she gradually learns that outside is where she is to go; not in the house. Even if she doesn't have to go right then she'll realize outside is the place. Then gradually increase the time between bathroom breaks. Otherwise, it wouldn't take too many days of going inside for her to learn the inside is the place to pee and poop. Not what you want. It was a great idea to take her out during the night. A puppy learns fast, either good or bad habits. My dog would stay inside without any accident for 12 hours during the day. The goal is for her to tell you, through howling or jumping up and down that she has to go outside which she will do eventually. My vet said that dogs really do not want to pee or poop in their house, but they have to be trained.
Ava literally wees every 20 minutes!! haha! I wish it was every 2 hours!
We hung a set of sleigh bells on the door. Every time we took ours out, we would say, ring the bell, and would ring it with a nudge. She learned in a couple of days to ring the bells to let us know she wanted to go outside
@@dwhetsel695 That is such a good idea. I totally agree. Let the dog jostle the piece of fabric with sleigh bells attached to let you know he/she wants to go out to pee.
@@dwhetsel695 We did this with our puppy. It drove us crazy. Bells lasted maybe 2 months before we had to take it down.
Congrats puppy Ava for having a Joel. Lol! She reminds me so much of my baby girl, Ebony Shadow Dancer. She was with me for 17 years. Dogs are great teachers of supportive and unconditional love. Puppies are a challenge but its worth it.
My best advice would be to socialize. Socialize her with both people and animals. Our dog barks like crazy whenever we have visitors or he sees other animals and people out on walks. Also when giving her a bath avoid water in ears or dry them real good after because dogs with floppy ears can get yeast infections in their ears.
Edit: I just saw you did mention socialization.
What a smart little puppy you have! I love watching how quickly Ava is learning the things you are teaching her. I couldn't help but laugh when you were teaching her to howl. I'm afraid you may end up regretting that but it was definitely fun to watch. Poor Oscar looked as if he wasn't sure what to think about the two puppies. At one point it looked as if he was trying to "herd" them. So very cute! I really enjoyed watching you and Ava together. Thanks so much for sharing!
I have fallen in love with little Miss Ava!🤗 My advice on potty training is when Ava wakes, starts sniffing around, finishes eating and stops playing, immediately take her outside. If she has an potty accident inside, place one of her puppy pads in that place. With new puppies, one must be ever vigilant. It’s very tiring at first, but she (and you 😉) will quickly form a routine.
Jennifer Smith - I basically agree with what you say, but I have a few exceptions. I've potty trained many pups, many more than most, even at my age, for reasons I won't go into, but for the betterment of mankind, so to speak.
The way I look at it, is when a puppy drinks or eats, it's not long until they will have to relieve themselves, so a large part of diligence, is just being aware of that, and from there, if you put in the attention, it's really not that hard to train them.
Rather than teach her to howl (which was immensely cute), better to teach her to bark at the door, whether she wants to come in, or go out. That's were success lies.
As well, as a last resort, when you finally can get her to pee on a pad, you are in tall cotton. Just take the pad outside, so that she can sniff it, and maybe make the connection. Just keep piling them up until she gets the idea.
It shouldn't take long, but the worst thing that you could do, would be to just throw them away, as she'll never get the connection then. Wee pads or old newspapers (the later of which I'm sure that Joel doesn't have any of, as if he's not 'old school'), but you're just setting yourself up for disaster, either way.
If the dog doesn't pee on the wee pad, just put the pad on it, to soak it up if nothing else, and then, when the dog finally pees on that pad, put it outside, and of course, replace it with a fresh one, in the same place, right by the door, as accidents do happen, when proper diligence isn't paid. This is a two month old pup, let's not forget.
At this point Joel, it's all your fault, for not paying attention. I'm only half kidding, as it is a two way street.
She is sooooo cute!!! And you are so great with her 🥰 please keep sharing her with us 🥰😍❤️
I love this,I'm so excited for next Monday when I get my chocolate cocker puppy
oooo yay!!! Good luck! Send me photos!
Lol welcome to puppy parenthood 😊🥰💖 She just lost her mom. You’re her new Dad now. Lots of love and just be firm when needed and loving. Lots of hugs and kisses and petting. She’s such a sweetie! She’s young, poor baby. Her separation anxiety is going to be high. She’s clinging to you and rightfully so. Oh my God she’s so precious! Congrats! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 Lots of patience for the next two to two and a half years til she matures 😉
She's so cute! Be careful teaching her to howl. I taught my last dog (a Cocker Spaniel) to howl and he'd howl whenever I'd leave him alone....the whole time. 😕😊
That sounds more like separation anxiety...
@@Jegerrikke or isolation distress
Thanks for the reminder that puppies are so much work! I typically get a puppy every 6 years, but start getting puppy fever well before that! Ava is so cute.
As a hairstylist I trained my 11 year old Ragdoll/Norwegian Forest cats to like the hairdryer, when they were kittens. It's a good idea Joel. Also until she's had her vaccinations/shots, I kind of would keep her away from people and other animals just in case somebody's animal didn't get their shots but she looks like she loves playing with her cousins and her other puppy friends. I can remember my vet told me to keep my kittens away until they were vaccinated from the kids I used to part-time nanny for but I did slip up and let them see the kittens but I made sure they washed their hands after, but it's because of the distemper chance I think. Have you taught her how to stay yet? That's kind of a really hard one.
I think she can feel the love and safety of you so she had no need to cry!! You are a good daddy!!
One thing that will help with her going berserk and biting at you is when she starts biting you stand up and turn your back, make yourself as boring as possible to her so she doesn't feel like play biting you is a game. Also make sure she gets plenty of exercise in order to burn off that energy. One thing you can look up on RUclips is episodes of a show called It's Me or the Dog, it's hosted by an experienced dog trainer and she's based out of the UK. The cases on the shows are extreme however you can get a lot of helpful tips for training out bad behaviors early before they become an emergency situation.
Excellent training. The more positive teaching and training you do now the happier she'll be. Keep up the good wok.
Little advice, if you do not wish to have a dog constantly howling when all alone or upset: do not teach her how to holw at all ;) Anyway, cute little pupper you have there ^^
You're good at training her. Hang in there it will get better. Love your videos Joel
I broke my puppy from biting and nipping me by over exaggerated fake crying every time he would bite me. I found the tip online and it actually worked. She is adorable! ❤️ 🐾
I do something similar with my cat. When she bites or gets a bit rough, I say 'Ouch' and she instantly stops!
What a puddin'! So adorable. 🥰😏🐶 Whenever I would take any dog we had growing up out of the bath and did the towel the same way over their ears (to look like a babushka), I would rock them like a baby and start singing "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof. 😁 So happy that you have Miss Ava in your life, Joel! She's lucky to have you as her dad and hang in there. xoxo Christine in Colorado, USA.
I know you’re not a parent yet, but treat puppies like a child. If she has food, water, has gone wee, etc and she has no ‘needs’ let her whine/cry. Like a child, the best thing you can do for a puppy is to help teach them to entertain themselves when you are away. That’s a win/win😊
Joel you can train her to jingle a ribbon of bells that can be but on door handle. Keep telling her no with force for biting! Keep all cords up. You can also use a spray bottle of Apple cider vinegar and water to help control her behavior. They hate Apple cider vinegar, however it is good for her coat. I also spray it on all urine spots. Learn to ignore her a little more otherwise you will make a lifelong needy dog.
I had to put my 8 year old dachshund down in April, my life is over, I lost my job and my heart is broken..... but I would do it over again in a heartbeat just to have him back😭 cherish her 🥰🐶❤️ heading to her IG
Dexter's Mom - I'm not really sure of what you meant by the last sentence, but a far as a dog lost to death, a lost job and a broken heart, that I understand.
There's nothing but compassion that I can offer you. Take what you've learnt from your dog, your job and your heart and if you hold your head high, you'll probably make it thru to better days.
Dexter's Mom
Since I wrote you that advice, my dog has died, just two days ago. We will now see if I can do as I suggested.
dobie bloke I know your heart is aching , all I can offer is prayers that you may find peace and grieve at your pace, don’t allow people to force you to get over the loss🥺🌈💔
@@dextersmom5694 - Thank you. That is what I will do. I've gone incommunicato, staying off the phone and the streets of my neighborhood, to nurse my privacy for as long as possible. I might get a few more days of it. There are just so many habits to break.
dobie bloke I think what confuses me the most is I can’t be there to take care of him, is he safe, is he scared? I lost my faith and I am alone with only my thoughts.... take care
Ava is a doll! Dogs are people magnets, you might pick up to a jog and use a headset if you don't want to stop and chat. Good workout several times a day! xox Puppy diaries, cant wait!
loved watching Eva as a puppy. so damn sweet.
She is so adorable Joel. You can see how sweet she is and how much she loves you by the way she looks at you. She is a baby so she needs lots of attention but she will grow out of that and won't be as demanding. Right now she just needs her Daddy to give her attention. I am sure she is still unsure of things and probably may still wonder where her siblings are. Regardless it looks like you are doing a great job. It was so cute to see her with Oscar. He is such a good example for her.
Oh no Joel. No howling. What happens when you're not home..
Neighbors won't appreciate cute little howling.
Sleepy puppy eyes! Nothing better 😃🐶💕 howls and whimpers 💞💖💘
That dog is SO cute! I can't watch your channel anymore Joel. I'll buy a dog if I do. :)
There’s nothing better than a dog. Except a puppy. I’m envious.
Lmao this video is so British I can relate:
“Pop the heating on”
“PetsAtHome”
😂😂
Lovely, lovely puppy. To look at she is very like my beautiful working cocker Willow who shared my life for 15 and a half years. Broke my heart when I lost her in March. Working cockers are so smart, usually very confident, lots of fun.and so so loving. I remember when Willow was a puppy she used to have what we called a mad ten minutes regularly every day when she would race round the house jumping on and over everything (including us) going completely mad. It is quite normal so don’t worry about it too much as she will grow out of it. I wish you a long and happy life together.
The puppy stage is brutal. You question the direction of your life. After about 2 years, it’ll be much better and all worth it.
Joel good luck hang in there as a fellow dog owner I know how you feel there's always going to be times that they're a pain but the good outweighs the bad by a bunch it will change your life for the better you will learn what true love is all about
My favorite with puppies is they play, play, play and then fall over and sleep LoL!
JO JO IN VT 💕😊🌲
haha I love that too!!
