Geographically speaking it referenced all land south of Syria including modern day Jordan. The first official use of Palestine happened in 136 A.D. when emperor Hadrian, after quelling the third Jewish, not Palestinian or Arab but third Jewish revolt (Bar Kokhba rebellion), designated all of Judea and surrounding territories as Palestine. The roman designation replaced Judea going forward. Now in November 636 A.D. an army that followed an illiterate warlord from Medina who called himself a prophet rolled into Jerusalem and literally built a mosque on the holiest of Jewish sites. Funny how that is never mentioned, a group of people who had a deep connection to that land cannot even possess their own sites because they were taken over. I would also suggest you look at the Hamas Charter, Article 7, to understand what type of people you are defending. They elected Hamas knowing their goals. Also, never in history has a people being victims of genocide increased their population.
