The man who passed away must have long forgotten that this was in the Jeep, or it was there when he bought it and didn't know, that's unfortunate, glad it's getting restored and not melted down.
My Colt PP was made in 1953 and was sold to the NYCPD and carried by a patrolman. His badge number is on the heel of the frame. Accurate, well made and fun to shoot with 158 grain .38 Special rounds. A set of Pachmayer rubber grips really improved this classic Colt wheel gun.
Yay! First one here! So excited for this rebuild! I got to fire one once. I was a very young girl but it impressed me. My dad was military so we always had guns coming into to house we could take the range at Ft. Hood and shoot.
You guys are amazing!! Nothing better than sitting down and watching you restore these pieces of history. Please keep the videos coming and keep up the great work!
So I wasn't raised around many guns. However I have had guns of my own since my early 20s. I'm 46 now. I currently have a Ruger EC9S and a S&W SD 9VE. I've got a lot of experience taking them down to clean them after going to the gun range. They aren't incredibly complex. But they are complex enough lol. I have never had any experience with revolvers. I had NO IDEA how complex a revolver is until watching this video. Great video. A great learning experience for an old dog lol.
Bidding on one right now to get my dad for Christmas. Gonna have his name engraved on it as well as the police department he worked for and the time he worked there. Then I’m gonna put it in a light up display case (kind of like a shadow box) and give it to him for Christmas. Wish me luck! Currently winning the auction.
This is the first 'restoration' that didn't offend me--you did everything just about right. I'm glad you didn't try to erase the rust pits--that never goes well. I might have smoothed a couple of the internal parts (for smooth function) and I have learned to make handmade grips out of elk antlers. Beyond that I give best wishes on this acquisition. Enjoy it!
Masterful job, sir! Well done!!! Five years ago, I restored a 1914 Colt Army Special, which belonged to my late wife's FIL. It was in much better condition than your revolver, but it was still a most rewarding experience. 😊
What a great video. You guys really rescued that sweet little revolver! I was surprised at how good the bore looked, and the whole thing turned out great. That would be fun to carry every once in a while, or mess with your buddies about mounting a light and red-dot on it...
I have my great grandfather's "Official Police .38 Special". It says it on the barrel. He was a Sheriff for the Indianapolis Sheriff's department in the 1930s and 40s. It's Nickle plated and still in really good condition. It really makes me happy to watch you save this family heirloom. You did a fantastic job!👍👍👍
Great job! I wish there was a way to fix the deep pitting. But I guess that's beyond our technology for now as I've never seen anyone do it. Definitely tells a story that the pistol was professionally restored though.
Hi again Brandon , Another great restoration job , do you ever have to watch your video in reverse to know where all the small parts go ? Love the finger clicking , always make me smile ! Looking forward to your next restoration .
I was helping a friend clean out his great uncle's house around 1986. We found a 1923 police positive chambered in 38 S&W. Regretfully it was stolen when my house was robbed in 2013.
Very interesting. We use sodium hydroxide in surface water treatment for pH control. Caustic soda is extremely dangerous. Do not get it in your skin or in your eyes. In liquid form it looks like water but when it dries from a leak it forms the white crusties that are just as dangerous as the liquid form. Thanks for the video.
You called it a movie flip at the end, I’ve heard it referred to as ‘Bogart a gun’. I guess since he did it in his movies. Super interesting restoration of this old classic, it certainly deserved all that care and attention.
Man, your camerawork and showing all the angles with superb lighting and great editing has made it way more smoother to follow the restoration these days. The zoomed-in angles with tons of lighting so we can see what's going on is really cool. You guys' editing and camerawork has improved drastically if you compare the early videos to this one. Just great work!
I have this exact year Colt PP. Was my Grandfather's, then my Dad, and now mine. In very nice condition, has been a really long time since I shot it though.
I would have tossed that into a Pan of Diesel Fuel or maybe some ATF mixed with Acetone for a week before I even touched it.... You usually do a pretty good Job, I'll give you that.... The worst thing when it comes to Rust on Firearms is always The Pitting... I've seen people Bead Blast Firearms then either TIG or Lazer Weld all the Pits... Then they go through the process of Grinding and Polishing a Hundred or so times.... They always look absolutely AMAZING Unfinished, until they get The Rust Bluing done... Then you are able to see every little imperfection... I'm guessing because it's a Dark Color and no longer Shiney from being Buffed and Polished.... Anyhow, Great Video!... I'm a Bigtime "Gun Guy" and an Avid Collector... I enjoy watching other people do things... I try to learn something new every day... Younz do a GREAT Job!...
Looks like it's in good shape for a 96 year old gun. Speaking for myself I would have tried to get a nice piece of black walnut and made a set of grips for it.
The man who passed away must have long forgotten that this was in the Jeep, or it was there when he bought it and didn't know, that's unfortunate, glad it's getting restored and not melted down.
Ya it's hard to say, thanks for watching!
Thanks for bringing back to life an old warhorse. I would enjoy hearing the stories if this fine revolver could talk. Excellent work as always.
Thanks for watching we appreciate it, ya that would be awesome!

When I see a new video notification from The Kinzler Bros., my day comes to a screeching halt and I watch! Great content.

Thanks we appreciate you, thanks for the kind words!
Absolutely, true! Every video is a treat.
I can never get over how nice and new the parts look after sandblasting!
Ya fine glassbead works well!
Have to be careful because these are hand fit & sand blasting can remove metal.
@@opinionsvary He literally said "fine glassbead" as in fine glassbead blasting
My colt police positive still has 100% blue and was made in 1907. Its another jewel in my collection. Great little .38 cal revolver.

The extent of your knowledge and experience … to dissemble and reassemble … all these weapon systems … is impressive … another great video … 🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
