I learnt to drive in a 2005 baleno. Drove it through my college. It's one of those engines that one has to rev out to know why it's loved among enthusiasts. The suspension is wee bit too soft but the g16b more than makes up for it.

But Maruti's real gem was the 1.3 L and 1.6 L DDIS diesel engines.

Sorry bro, but you are wrong bcz maruti used to put suzuki's m16a engine (which is a DOHC unit unlike G16B which has a SOHC setup) in sx4, and when they given the sx4 a facelift (in 2009 or 2010) they also given it vvt technology with the bs4 update.
And please forgive my grammar mistakes.😅

we have owned this generation of Baleno (2005). this car was quite ahead of its time in terms of refinement and performance. In my opinion the Maruti Suzuki S Cross (which we own now) is more of a spiritual to this Baleno in terms of driving manners, performance and refinement instead of the present Baleno and the Ciaz. plus I am not entirely sure about all the modifications done to this Baleno in the sense whether it improves it or not. The one which we owned was in factory format throughout its time with us and was properly maintained by maruti suzuki. Having said that, we miss the original Baleno alot and loved every second we had with it.
