@@thedaily30Yes, they would take it down, but Nintendo actually could make a SM64 remake! They have made a Super Mario RPG remake, Paper Mario TTYD remake and a Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake, so it's a little more likely that we could get it.

Not me, and I say that as a self-criticism. I distinctly remember thinking they abandoned a good art style for technology that wasn't ready yet in the transition from 2D pixel art to low-poly 3D. I appreciate the aesthetic more now as an adult than I did as a kid. I was not impressed at the time. I saw the renders used in advertising and compared it to the actual game graphics and basically thought "they jumped on this trend too soon just to compete with Sony, because this looks like crap". I also thought taking Mario out of the side scrolling format was a betrayal of what made Mario great in the first place. I didn't even want an N64. I was a stupid child. I have since played Super Mario 64 more times than I can count, just as a go-to stimming game. It's an all-time classic.
@@Swenglish I didn't mind consoles wanting to make 3D games. I was just bothered that 2D was considered a dead form of them and we lost out on many good ones for over a decade until the 2010s finally saved them. Out of everything in its generation, the N64 was the most suited for 3D for sure, though. If we go off modern game console logic nowadays with midway console launches denoting that it's part of that gen, technically Dreamcast is fifth gen and thus the most impressive.
I love the courtyard in the back having access to leave it and circle back to the front of the castle. A simple but effective change for making the castle more explorable.
I fully agree. This is imo the best castle I've ever seen in any project. I actually wanted to model it exactly like this and perhaps to extend the fields further than this one. It would be so cool if you could take this concept and merge it with what we saw in Princess Peach's Raceway from Mario Kart 64. This could then serve as the basis for building the entire mushroom kingdom.
Nintendo re-released Mario 64 in 2020. Nintendo loves money, they just know their customers will continue to pay 50-70 dollars for the same 20th century video game without putting the effort to refurbish it...
I love how much you added from the original game. You csn tell what has yet to be added, like levels, the basement, the upper floor, enemies. I noticed that the long jump is shorter and mario breaks his neck doing a side flip...i hope mario gets his neck fixed when the full game comes out.

If no one minds, i want to suggest something that no one has thought of: green coins and pink coins/master coins. Getting lets say 4 green coins summons/spawns a 1-up. Pink coins are either in hard to reach places or rewarded for doing insanely hard tasks/quests/missions. Replace mario over the rainbow with a custom level, i don't think anyone liked it so why not put it to good use?

Some of us hate the early 3D looking game graphics because they execute the look horribly even by standards 5 years after them. Not all old games look good just because they have good gameplay and good story. SM64 looks like garbage much like FF7 does, story and gameplay be damned the graphics are a factor and it doesn't have the charm pixel art has because there isn't anything appealing about low poly models that look that way by anyone that didn't growup with them.

I only watching the 1:14 footage. What made Mario 64 magical was the idea not the graphics. There was a vibe on the 90’s. Today that crap is gone. The need for attention and perfection is not that vibe. The purpose of a video game is fantasy. No way in hell about graphics. If I want graphics I’ll watch the exorcist.

Isn't it funny how SEGA is supportive of fan games using their characters, but Nintendo isn't? Hell, Sonic Mania was originally a Sonic fan game harkening back to oldskool 16-bit Sonic, but SEGA liked it so much that they asked the developer if they could buy the rights to it sell it as an official Sonic game, which the developer obviously said "yes" to. Nintendo wouldn't do that. They even had DMCA'd Kaze's Super Mario 64 ROM hacks because they saw them as infringing on their copyright. A few of them are still available to download and play, but the rest have been removed permanently.
Not digging it he was okay on the outside but once Mario stepped in the castle it fell flat one of the things that really is off putting about it is that everything is a lot farther away I don't know if it's the engine or the way the person built the inside put the doors need to be a lot closer it feels like that scary feeling when everything else is scary around you and the door looks to be further away than usual
