Fasting (in my religion it's basically eating a vegan diet). I found that vegan diets (thought they are not what I prefer) are cheaper than non-vegan stuff.
I shop online with a list and then pick up the groceries. When you shop online, price comparisons are much easier and I am away from temptations. Saves a ton of time too❤
Switching to a vegan diet has saved me a lot. No meat, no fish, no cheese, no milk, etc. really helps keep the cost down. Tofu, rice, oats, pasta, beans, lentils, potatoes, bananas, etc are some of the least expensive foods in the grocery store.
@susandean8584 hi, can I ask you for some sources recomendations to learn more about that? maybe channels, blogs, whatever, I'm completely clueless as of now
I am in my mid 60's and a retired nurse. Love you frugal living info. I have switched to a no sugar and unprocessed food diet and since doing that in the last 12 months I have lost 15kg and feel so great. I cook a lot more and mostly shop around the outside of our local supermarkets in country NSW. Real food is best. Hi from Australia.
I work at Walmart. I get free delivery. It's nice. I also go to college online for free thru Walmart. Half way thru my bachelor's in computer science. With other benefits...all in, I make 35 bucks an hour. Half cash, half benefits. I'm the real master of saving.
@@sct4040s/he is probably counting the benefits, not Walmart. They are being smart looking at things this way. It’s also a good idea to think this way in compensation negotiations for salaried jobs, especially when changing positions.
If you have an Aldi in your city, it’s the best for grocery savings! Everything’s generic and there’s fewer choices which helps me (I get overwhelmed at the sheer volume of choices at Walmart)
Learn how to cook simple dishes from scratch. A good basic cookbook like Betty Crocker or Better Homes and Gardens is a must. I keep my pantry stocked with basic staples. I then buy meat, fresh fruits, and fresh veggies when they are on sale. Eat seasonally.
i watched a few of your videos and I can't believe I found some who thinks exactly the same as me. Incredible!! Only thing is I make my own mayonnaise and beans, etc.. so easy and way cheaper and healthier.
Favorite low-cost snacks: popcorn from bulk kernels, homemade muffins, and diy popsicles especially from fruit that’s getting old- don’t let it go bad make a fun treat!
Hilarious video! I use a couple of those "fancy" gadgets, namely the Instant Pot ( which costs about $100), and splurged on a Breville countertop convection oven/air fryer. Use both of them regularly, as they save time and electricity, especially the Instant Pot. Also, you don't heat up your entire home when cooking with them, so you save on utilities, too
I began buying my produce at the local farmers market because it’s cheaper. I use a cast iron skillet and steamed the veggies rather than frying them, etc. I use organic olive oil. I eat healthy food as cheaply as I can. I don’t eat much (intermittent fasting/one meal per day) which is even cheaper. Eating healthy saves money on doctor bills, medications, etc., while at the same time reinvesting in your life expectancy!!
Agustin I believe that a lot of thinking and research went into making this video. It is a distinct change from your previous videos and very refreshing! Love the humour too!
Hahahaha...love this! You are a cutie pie. I can say this because I'm old enough to be your granniemaw. Keep on with the comedy, at least every once in a while. 🙂
The instant pot is worth it. It constantly saves me hours at the kitchen and is way easier to clean. Buying 2.8 Kg of boneless chicken thighs at Costco and cooking them all at once while working is the cheapest and fastest way to consume protein throughout the week. Also, I keep the chicken stock and when cooled I can remove the fat from it very easy.
I have to agree. I use it several times a week to batch cook dried beans, rice, quinoa, soups, stews and steel cut oats. Best $$$ I ever spent! If mine broke today I would go buy another one right away
Yes I really love and use my air fryer also my magic bullet and my pressure cooker. Those are my 3 small kitchen appliance/pot I cant do without or wouldn't like to do without 🤔
I agree with most of your items. I find that the 1/2 of the store brand canned vegetables to be terrible tasting, compared to more expensive ones. I usually try the store brands and then only use the ones that are comparable in taste. The frozen vegetables seem to be fine.
Same here in the USA unless when you do use it, you fill it up. I recently bought a 44 pack of fish sticks, which took up 2 large cookie sheets. I cooked it all at one time in the oven, then divided it in to freezer trays and boom about 7 meals for me as a single person. Anna In Ohio
I eat plant based with lots of soups, beans and stews. I love my instant pot. It lives on my counter and gets frequent use. I also batch cook and freeze.
Lidl is cheaper than Walmart. I compared prices on many items. Lidl beats them out each time. Love your abs. Lol. The eye level thing is so true. Produce is the first thing you see in most stores. Absolutely true. You'll never see me buying Lucky Charms. A bag of black beans will run you about $2.00 and you'll get 3-4 cans of beans. My instant pot gets used for everything every day. My oven goes through twice the electric as my instant pot. I was able to unload a lot of clutter in my cupboards thanks to it. We're BJ'S members, so, of course I buy in bulk. I have a bidet. TP kills acres of trees. Bidet kills none. We donate stuff to the homeless. Buy coffee cups brand new? Why? You get cool ones at yard sales for .25 to a dollar. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
lol LOVE your videos!! I do most of that but im taking some more advice from this video. I started a budget a few month ago thanks to you and your videos and is a life changer. Thanks for your amazing videos!
It would never occur to me that you could drive somewhere to get snacks! I always make sure I have something at home. Yesterday my favorite Lindt chocolate was on sale and I got 4 for 10 dollars (Canadian). My main grocery hack is buying products which are on sale. Thanks for an another great and funny video!
Dry beans and cooking them add and onion, garlic and salt and use a pressure cooker. So much better and cheaper than can beans. Then divide them and freeze the rest.
You can sing and act too, bravo Austin. Thanks for making me laugh. I’m in Ireland and shop mostly in Lidl and Aldi which are quite popular here. Yes we look at price per gram here. I was in Walmart Florida, on my travels in the States, I never saw so much ice cream and cereals on display anywhere else, loved the more mature person who greeted us on entry found that quite novel as elderly people are usually retired here and was amazed so many plastic bags were used for our groceries as we have a tax on them here like 27c per bag so people bring their own reusable bags instead, we used to have bags caught in trees and rivers but with the tax it improved things overnight, we don’t want to pay extra for things.
Yeah, the Walmart greeter is pretty famous here! Colorado just started taxing plastic bags at 10 cents per bag. It's good to see them gone form the store!
I do the free pickup at Walmart. Not only does it save me time but it also allows me to see what Im spending my money on before I buy and allows me to think twice before I buy something that I dont really need.
Another Great video! I don’t find Walmart to be cheap. ( for years now) . I shop the loss leaders at my 2 local supermarkets and ALDIs. ( they have less preservatives in their food because Europe is stricter with food additives). Oh and get an add on bidet.😊 I do love my air fryer. It cooks food perfectly and the instant pot is great for tougher cuts of meat. It uses a quarter of the time of a slow cooker or oven. Still love your presentation of ideas! Helps me stay on track. Thank you.💗
Ngl I do value convenience with my weekly shopping, which means I do shop the middle isles for certain things like tuna pouches, canned mackerel or sardines, and canned beans are a lifesaver!!!
This is the best grocery saving video so far! Good job! My only addition is that (if you’re responsible with credit cards) the walmart credit card comes with 5% cash back when you do walmart pickup
You can get "everything" at Meijer too. Not sure they are in your area though. We poop because we eat - whether a little or a lot - because what goes in must come out!
Great hacks Austin. I would add 1. Some stores sell close to expire items cheaper also 2. farmers market fresh foods are sometimes cheaper so check/compare.
You can cut out TP expenses permanently and get a bidet! Ha, I love the "Drop it low" instruction with tutorial on proper form! Always bend with the knees and save your back! 🤣
I shop at Aldi's, Krogers, Sams and sometimes Walmarts. All are pretty close to where I live Walmart and Sams about a 10 minute drive. I try very hard to only go once a week sometimes stretch that out to 10 days. I keep a very well stocked pantry and deep freezers and I also am a "Canner". On snacks? I buy big containers of mixed peanuts lately at Krogers $9.99 for a 2 pound container. For Sweets I buy shelf stable milk to keep in stock and when craving a sweet, I make up a batch of instant pudding. It usually takes about half a hour to set up and in the meantime I get to eat the pudding on the spatula lol. I try to keep cucumbers in the house to use in place of potato chips, slice and sprinkle with salt much cheaper and healthier choice. And yes I buy bulk size bags of frozen fruits at Sam's club mostly and put in individual freezer containers that I can take out one and thaw sprinkle just a tiny bit of sugar in it and a good sweet healthy snack. I also buy fruit that is 'in season" like oranges and mandarin oranges right now are in season and cheap. I Can applesauce when apples are in season or on sale. Anna In Ohio
9:27 Yeap, we have in Poland price per kg. And buying in bulk is not always cheaper, that is why you have to always look for price per kg :) I love your sense of humour Austin :)
Agree with a lot of this, but I’ve used my instant pot regularly for years. You can’t beat the flavor of bone broth made with old bones from a chicken or turkey carcass with water, veg scraps (I keep a huge bag in the freezer. Every onion skin, cabbage core, and veg scrap goes in there) + spices and it’s done fast. Practically free soup. You can buy dry beans, soak them, throw them in the instant pot and in less than an hour they’re ready to eat. No tin can to add to the billions of cans we Americans use every year. One of my best investments. Forgot to mention that 1 lb of dry beans for around $1.79 yields ~7 cans of beans that cost $6.23 and you help save the planet by eliminating the cans.
First video I watched from you and I love your content And if you’re wondering why people flock in from specific number. It looks like you tried it yourself and it worked from experience instead of searching up ways online and regurgitating it.
Thanks! Yeah, the algorithm treats everyone differently and I just have to figure out what works for me. The human psychology part of doing this is the most interesting for me.
The hacks are great, but I only go to Walmart for certain items. I also go to Costco 1-2 times a month to buy bulk items. My local grocery store, which is part of Kroger's is a 1/4 from my house and the produce tends to be cheaper than Walmart all of the time. Also, I get to use my store membership rewards to get discounts on gas.
My friend gave me an air fryer and it definitely is worth it. Also my cheap rice cooker I bought was totally worth it! Perfectly cooked rice every single time
I save in so many ways n I'm going to share just two ways. I save in one way by using my food saver when I see a sale I grab it up. And when I come home I freeze it all with my food saver which allows me to save it for a very long time. Which in turn saves me alot of MOLA.... Second way I save is by using a grocery list. I hardly ever go to the store without one. It saves me at least 25 to 35 percent of not buying on impulse....which the store would love for me to do but I don't. And that is two ways I save alot of money...how do u save?
i'm the exact opposite and never have a list. I love to cook and experiment with recipes, so I basically cook based on what the lost leaders are for that grocery week and whatever produce they have on clear-outs. I save a lot of money inventing creative recipes from on sale items. I do also flash freeze items that are on sale like peppers (cut up into strips int a food saver bag into freezer).
Yes I'm cutting sugar down. I'm only allowing myself one sweet thing a day. That means I can have a biscuit, a small piece of cake or a sweet drink or a few sweets. But that's it! When the sweets are gone I'm not buying more. Although I may have the occasional slice of cake or cupcake. We have walmart here in the UK it's called Asda. I find Iceland just as good but they don't sell homeware and clothes.
I run a frugal food group here in Arizona and after taking a poll Fry's is the most popular place to shop ... I am not a W fan by any means I think their prices are just about the same as any other store.. The savings are in the store APPS ! 2 weeks ago Safeway/Albertsons had chicken for 99¢ a lb . Totally worth going and getting... BTW your video was too funny !
I would be careful about "stocking up". I would stock up toilet paper, but not, say, paper towel, because as you know, the more you have the more you will use/waste.
When I go to the grocery store I take a sharpie a tablet and a calculator I write the price of everything down a calculate it and mark the price of can good's on the top to make sure they scan up right if they scan a different price than what the tag had I'll tell the cashier that's 47 cents not 57 cents a lot of places put stuff on sale and don't change the price in the computer so you'll pay full price for items that show to be on sale Walmart and Kroger are the worst for doing this
Hi! Flashfood is a good app where you can find discounted food from your local grocery store! It’s expiring food, the grocery store is getting rid of it for whatever reason, etc. Saves money and reduces food waste. I don’t know if it’s available everywhere, it’s available in northeast Ohio for sure.
Western Canada here and I hate Walmart so you almost lost me right away......they are almost always out of what I need here and the store is just a giant festering warehouse, very depressing. Your other tips are spot on
I DO shop at Walmart because I really like the Great Value Cantina Thins tortilla chips. BUT real world example from last week. I bought some Eukon gold 2 lb bag at Walmart for $4.77. My mom told me that they were at Aldi's exactly the same kind and amount for $2.75. Sometimes for some things...Aldi's is less expensive and they have such a great selection of cheese and dark chocolate. I know not everyone has Aldi's but it's worth checking out. . I cook all food from scratch with as few processed items as possible.
Good one Austin ! Too bad you don’t have a Winco Foods in your area. They have Walmart beat ! You had me rolling, when the Walmart shopper that looked like your cousin showed up ! 😆
I'm a health nut more than cost nut. The wally secret is they have a sprinkle of healthy stuff. Over half my rigid diet by volume comes from walmart. The remainder comes from Walgreens. I'm truly grateful for walmart and Walgreens. I wash my butt in the shower paperless. I never cook, so never wash. Pretty much never eat out. Snacks are my sucker lure. I try hard to avoid. I eat every 3 hours but skip some meals. Small meals, obviously. Ya the thrift store donations are the fast track to minimalism for me.
What's a hack that allows you to save money at the grocery store?

I love my instant pot it is used every week! Eggs, beans, soups....the only thing I use my airfryer for is bacon...but I love bacon : )
Educational yet funny and entertaining video..
Definitely buying by bulk non perishable items.
Absolutely checking price per ounce.
Funny and wonderful video!
Thank you for this👍
Yes I'm cutting sugar down.
This is so funny 😅 it reminds me those Odd scenes you find at Walmart.
Love my air fryer.
Cheap as chips to run.
Gas However is pretty darn expensive.
😂😂😂😂 too much!! Love it!
I have used that app lots here in Brampton, Ontario Canada. It saves me a lot of money.
Walmart + Aldi = best bang for the buck.
Great advice!!! Thanks 😅
lol loved this video new subscriber ,also amazing advice thank you handsome
Western Canada here and I hate Walmart so you almost lost me right away......they are almost always out of what I need here and the store is just a giant festering warehouse, very depressing. Your other tips are spot on
Loved the intro!! we want MORE
haha, thanks!!
i do agree w 90 percent but my instantpot and airfryer is my lifesavers!,,
I DO shop at Walmart because I really like the Great Value Cantina Thins tortilla chips.
I use my instant pot nearly every day. Saves switching on the hob and wasting heat, heating the kitchen too. Lol
Love this❤️
