I was going to say the same. That "economy" airline seems miles better than regular airlines flying domestically in the US. Looking at you American. Flying into JFK must be a shock to EU travelers coming for the first time lol.
@@ericboyle8296 I flew to Newark and then to Washington DC and was impressed by the immigration process, they asked me (and everyone) for my 10 fingerprints, which in Spain, my home country they only ask for 2. And later, when I arrived, there was a shooting in a supermarket near the hotel, for me was very shocking having to protect from that, you feel very vulnerable bc anybody can carry a weapon, Idk it's another type of life totally different from the European one, or even a country with no weapons. Here we have fences in our yards, and alarms and security locks, and there you have guns.
@@laurafdez2073 Rest assured we have fences, locks and security systems too. Oddly the police here don't carry submachine guns. Maybe because we don't have the terrorists with bombs? Just asking. But yeah normally the biggest worry for my family in the Netherlands is their bicycles getting stolen. BTW Newark is certainly not a highlight of the country!
Always a pleasure Kym . Enjoy Miami , and I hope you enjoyed Rome . I was lucky enough to visit and experience that amazing city at least 30 times over a 7 yr period as a contiki driver years ago. Beautiful history and food.
Welcome to the Miami area. Always a pleasure to see your videos from around the world. Even though I live in Miami Beach and would’ve like to attend the race I found the price is very prohibitive so I’ll just have to watch the excellent coverage on TV and keep my Nikon Z7 assorted lenses ready for next year maybe.
Hi Kym, love all your videos! Excuse me if this is a rude question (I don’t mean it to be), I’m just intrigued! Your travelling costs must stack up, especially with first class and everything, to quiet a sum. Can you write them off as business expenses or is the travel costs just part of the job?! All the best, stay passionate!!

Lovely video as always. Very excited for the Rome tour video, as im traveling there at the end of the month for the first time, can't wait! Keep up the great work :)
Having done a lot of business travel over the years (Qantas Platinum for a few years and Lifetime Gold), I enjoy your trip reports. The joys, tribulations and booking stuff-ups (been there done that). Some of my international stuff would be fly, land do a few inspections and meetings, rinse and repeat next day. So absolute luxury was two or more nights in the one hotel. Great vid as usual
I am so disgusted with QANTAS at the moment. They have dropped the ball big time. Several hour waits for the Platinum desk, God knows how long for non-platinum members, baggage dramas a plenty and numerous other issues have relegated a national airline well down the list. And that business class seat on the longhauls pales in comparison to almost every other product (except Emirates business seat in the 2-3-2!config, that’s a shocker).
@@KymIllman My Berlin resident daughter made a longed-for 2 month visit in January, Flying QF Y. She and partner wanted to extend visit by one week and gave up after about 6 2/3 hour calls on hold. I tried PLat desk but they could not help. However, flights were BER/LHR/DRW/SYD + return on B787 and they enjoyed both flights. Having flown numerous other airlines during her international gymnastics career, she still thinks Q that best for a good back of plane experience.

Hi Kym! Do you value luxury highly and pay for it yourself or do you get free upgrades because you fly and live in hotes so much? Whats decision making like in that sense? I can imagine it must be a lot more expensive to live in these nice hotels and fly with these fancy seats instead of more ordinary ones, right? Always been curious about this, cheers from Sweden!
But there you get the same hassle, no?....it's just that it is before boarding, which is even more stressful, as then there is a real risk of just missing your flight
@@tfdtfdtfd Yes it's done before, but when you land it's like you have been on an internal US flight. I'd always prefer to have it over an done with before flying when I have the energy. Great content. Could you perhaps include more in detail traveling and accommodation expenses as you travel from race to race. For us fans who would love to to the same in the future.
I do wonder whether there would be a market for Orient Express 3.0 with (luxury) high speed trains that travel long distances across Europe's high speed network. Like Amsterdam to Napoli in about 16 hours or Berlin to Cadiz or Lisbon in 24 hours or Vienna to London in 14,5 hours or so. Of course these travel times will come down as better connections are built, and the lines could be lengthened towards the east once rail baltica gets built, and north to Scandinavia thanks to the new Fehmarnbelt tunnel, up to Oslo (with some track upgrades) and Stockholm & Ulea. With a tunnel to Finland you could go as far north as Oulu. High speed night trains could also make a dent in the air travel market. They could probably compete with 3-4h flights if they get the travel time down to around 8-10 hours non-stop from city centre to city centre. That would allow travellers to avoid much of the hassle that comes with air travel, and to arrive well-rested at their destination.
Welcome to the USA Kym. As you have said we are about to see a whole new F1 race and I am looking forward it, and your top notch photography of it. Cheers my friend and let's get into it.
