    Subbed!! Buying my first vintage bike tomorrow! Happens to be Scott Sawtooth in Red and Yellow! Planning on building it very similar

    Its getting to be quite a pricey bike. A potential builder will need to compard the price against a more modern second hander from FB market place.
    Thanks for posting

    very colourful bike! really cool how you are giving a second life with your projects. By the way, don't know how you can cope building in the garden. Here in Bristol is absolutely hice cold.

    The missing bit from the front head could have been the front cantilever brake cable dooda… Nice work.

    In order save more money, can’t you use the original BB and crank and simply place the new narrow wide chainring in the middle slot? In theory shouldn’t that provide a good chain line?

    • @2NDLIFEBIKES
      @2NDLIFEBIKES  Год назад +1

      Yes this would definitely work. In my case I bought frame only (with the odd part) but no BB and crank.

    • @iklein81
      @iklein81 Год назад +3

      Right, I forgot it was frame only (I watched I swear) Thanks!

      @@iklein81 It’s a good point though. And why I’d say when possible buy complete and reuse as much as you can.

      I’ve used the middle position on a triple and it does align you Bob on in the middle of the rear cassette, or bang on for a single speed.

    Billy Bonkers are the value choice unless your going with absolute crap. $25 Canadian for a 26x2.2
    My wtb BYWAY40 and 47 in 700/650 respectively were $100 each average

    Hey Craig how are the prolite wheels? I'm thinking of ordering a set but not entirely certain if they will be worth it, gonna be going on a retro yellow GT Tempest

      I rate them! I’ve got 3 sets now. They aren’t the lightest but they are strong and stay true.
      I mentioned in one of the videos I got them from Halfords but they are cheaper here.
