1. Soft brick. In very rare cases you won't be able to use your screen. It can be reverted back and can be also be fixed with a simple restart. In other cases you'll have to hard reset. 2. Yes, I'd say so 3. Advantage: Better performance Disadvantage: Some apps may not look right

Didn't work. Phone instantly reboots. The moment I execute the command and the command line fails. Resolution stays as it. However, I still tried to increase the resolution since lowering won't work. Surprisingly, it was increased and suddenly all icons became small. But the lower resolutions don't work on my phone. It's a Nokia 6(2018)
If you do this on a mi 9 it works, so far I have only observed an error in the camera-photo interface with a setting lower than 960x2080 where the software fails (showing green areas the closer it gets in normal mode), the rest camera functionalities works normal without complications. I have taken it up to 720x1560 because I can't find a reason to keep it higher if the 1080 option is disabled in videos from applications like youtube, but it continues to capture on video and camera normally.
Can someone help me , I did this to my tablet but when I drop the resolution to anything below 600p some apps like settings , camera stops working and I can't open it, does anyone have a solution ? Edit : found a solution , lower your dpi , in my case my dpi was 160 I lowered it to 120 and it worked , do that if you have the same problem
Bricking with adb? That hasn't happened yet. The worst that happened was that the app I was using wasn't working properly so it made my screen completely black but I just held the power button down and back to normal

No. The extreme graphic settings depend on your GPU. If its not capable of handling it, you can use them. They can be overriden but you will experience a significant amount of lag
hey, thanks for the tip, I just did this on my A51, but the little punch hole display-notch is moved down so there is another notch, any way to fix this?
I tried this on my galaxy tab a6 tablet. Whenever I boot it up everything crashes and I'm stuck in a loop of getting crashing messages - "X has stopped working", and there's nothing else...
Resolution can improve performance a little. If normal resolution your phone lag is come after 45 mins played. With this resolution you will get lag after 1 hour played. That was I said a little difference.
I found a comment and says that if you restart your cp it will turn into a black screen and you said that restarting your cp is the dumbest way(sorry for the dumbest way because I can't see the comment and that's what my mind remember)but what if I accidentally restart my phone will it go black screen or not.
umm everything's good but why is it resetting itself after restarting phone? Do I need to everytime type in commands after restarting my phone? edit: also after doing this my in display fingerprint isn't working....

I hope this comment will be noticed, I am currently using Samsung with Android 9 version (Pie) and I only know the rooted method for this stuff which is the build.prop editing from my old phones. And now my Android 9 isn't rooted and I want to give your tutorial a shot, did you also try to set a lockscreen after doing this? And, another question, if I unplug and turn off the USB debugging, will the resolution could back to normal or it will become its default reso? Please respond. Thankyou.
_Did you also try to set a lockscreen after doing this?_ I have not not tried it but i'm sure it will work. Please backup your things before trying though. _if I unplug and turn off the USB debugging, will the resolution could back to normal_ No, your resolution will stay after you unplug or turn off USB debugging. I've explained it in the video on how to revert it back to normal. Some phones will reset it after a reboot but some may not.
Does it work for Samsung phones? Because as far as I know, these things like adb command, bootloader unlocking, trying to install custom roms can damage or brick Samsung phones. My device is S20 FE 5G, running on Android 11 One UI 3.1
Came back to this video after buying a 7" onn tablet and lowered resolution to 300x512 and density to 120. Screen looks like crap but now i can watch videos at 720p without lag. lol
You are the man thank you thank you i have been trying for 2 weeks now and this finaly done it. The reason i wanted to lower the resolution is because i got a 10.8" Chinese tablet with good enough cpu and 6gb ram 64gb rom all are good its not fake i checked with HW, i basically won it in a comp but the thing is they make the resolution to high for the cpu that is in there everything was laggy the res was 2k so i lowered it and now everything is perfect. I cant even see the difference, again you the man thank you thank you so so much.
It doesn't work for me. I tried to lower my resolution to 540p but when I checked aida64 it shows my default resolution, but when I increase my resolution it works but it makes my phone much laggy
Aida shows you your default, actual screen resolution. You can tell if it worked or not by simply looking at the screen elements. If they've increased in size then it worked.
Whenever I change my screen resolution, it successfully changes but black borders appear around my screen, and navigation buttons stop working. Please help sir!!
Hi Mr Grabster , I like ur videos alot and have subbed to ur channel as well.Is there an adb shell command to open specific settings such as Display settings, Hdmi CEC ,security settings etc.
Me I'm playing Grand Truck Simulator 2 in my Huawei Y6 2018 phone I adjust the resolution in extreme and the graphics set into very high but I disabled shadows, trees and grass but the framerate of the Gameplay just reach in 50-62fps
Doing this did infact improve the performance. However, it messed up the on-screen Fingerprint scanner to not position correctly inspite of playing with different densities

bro once i type in adb devices you tell me to tap allow on my phone right, i dont get that message popping up on my phone, what can i do to fix this
Yeah please reply how can i fix that:(
What happens when you type "adb devices" without it popping up?

plz help me bcuz when i lowered resolution the screen turns black and they say touchwiz has unfortunately stopped
Just revert back to your original resolution.
@@Grabster thnx bro....but i want a smoother gameplay...plz help me lower my resolution
@@tearzon9431 unfortunately if you're phone keeps crashing, there is nothing i can do to fix it. I can suggest trying out greenify to kill background processes. That can help boost some performance

@@tearzon9431 The only thing comes to mind is a custom lightweight ROM. Which you'll have to research and find the right one. Its also very risky and could potentially brick your tablet

I think u will be going my next fav RUclipsr
thx bro my pubg was faster than ever!
I have some few questions to ask u while following ur steps....
1- Can and how my phone gets brick??(Oppo A5 2020 with Snapdragon 665)
2- I have to use this trick for Fortnite Mobile and it runs on 60 fps but it's not constant so can atleast I can get constant FPS??
3- what r other advantages and disadvantages of this (pls tell in detail)
Hope u will reply.....
1. Soft brick. In very rare cases you won't be able to use your screen. It can be reverted back and can be also be fixed with a simple restart. In other cases you'll have to hard reset.
2. Yes, I'd say so
3. Advantage: Better performance
Disadvantage: Some apps may not look right
I cant press home/back/recent buttom after doing this. Help me
Revert back to default. Run _adb shell wm size reset_
Thanjs but how do i get 60 fps? I only get 45 and i want to relaxate my eyes heheh my phone has 4gb ram snap 425 adreno 503 thxx
Use gfx tool
I really like how responsive your aree kudos.
the only thing i noticed aside from his good editing skills is this tweet 3:01
xDDDD
After executing the command,it showed "must hold permission android.permission.write_secure_settings"....what should i do??
@Fufu YaYA i actually got it working later on ....but it didn't seem to lower the resolution of the game (Genshin Impact)....can you please help??
@Fufu YaYA yes..i have android 10... actually i went to driver preferences..but didn't see a significant performance boost after changing the driver..
@Fufu YaYA i dont think so...i mean i am changing the resolution of my hardware...so genshin should recognize it...

Did you try?
@@kimbi1888 yah bruh
Does this work on MOBILE LEGENDS??
It works on all games.
The most important thing that you missed is that to maintain the ratio of the screen
Or else you will end having black screen in certain area of your screen after reboot
Sorry for my bad english
I did mention to play around with density settings to get the aspect ratio right
@@Grabster oh OK
and also you are very underrated creator .Good luck
Hi, I already followed all the steps in the pinned comment but everytime I type adb shell wm size then the lower resolution it still keeps saying must hold android permission write security settings or something. Please help
What phone are you on?
@@Grabsternvm, mine already worked but the icons get so much bigger and even if I lower my density, they don't get smaller only the status bar and notification do. My default is 720x1600 and I lowered it one time to 576x1280. I think it just looks messed up
@@bluu5484 that's expected to happen unfortunately. if everything works fine, you have to get used to it. Could you tell us how you fixed your adb issue?
@@Grabster man did I do some deep researching but I remembered downloading adb drivers I think it's named platform tools and can be searched on RUclips easily and I typed in one command in cmd saying adb permission granted something something then I enabled disable permission monitoring in developer options which is located at the bottom then it just worked
Do you have any other tips though on how to increase gaming performance or just the android performance other than this?
what is the name of game which you are playing in first
Blur
I can't find the games dude, can anyone provide the link?
It's a PC game, not mobile.
Thanks man! Thanks!
Subscribed & Thank you!!!
Thank bro you are awesome
Able to play brawl stars fine , thanks!
really?
Lol hahahaha
How shity can your phone be
Really I play on potato phone my phone can handle brawl stars ezzzz
Can someone help me , I did this to my tablet but when I drop the resolution to anything below 600p some apps like settings , camera stops working and I can't open it, does anyone have a solution ?
Edit : found a solution , lower your dpi , in my case my dpi was 160 I lowered it to 120 and it worked , do that if you have the same problem
before doing it you should know your screen resolution available based on your screen size before applying anything
@@poyipoyixd849 well I just changed dpi and it worked so theres no need

i know this comment is 5 years late but what happen if i restart my phone? does it revert the resolution to default?
Bricking with adb?
That hasn't happened yet. The worst that happened was that the app I was using wasn't working properly so it made my screen completely black but I just held the power button down and back to normal
Hi, if i downgrade my 1080p to 720p can i still return it back to 1080p?
Yes. Watch the video
Increased resolution affects performance and low resolution hurts the eyes (but gives a slight boost )
Here comes an interesting question that you haven't stated I have asus mobile phone with snap 636 ,which capable of running pubg in 30fps,i.e, high fps and my question is downgrading my resolution so low ,I know there will b stable fps but will I b able to play in extreme graphics? , That would really help bruh and keep up the good work ❣️
No. The extreme graphic settings depend on your GPU. If its not capable of handling it, you can use them. They can be overriden but you will experience a significant amount of lag
@@Grabster alright man thanks ❣️
hey, thanks for the tip, I just did this on my A51, but the little punch hole display-notch is moved down so there is another notch, any way to fix this?
I tried this on my galaxy tab a6 tablet. Whenever I boot it up everything crashes and I'm stuck in a loop of getting crashing messages - "X has stopped working", and there's nothing else...
Someone else had the same issue with an HTC. Can you not revert back to default resolution?
It says no drivers found and when i type adb devices it says list of file attached and then blank and then takes me to the first command
Resolution can improve performance a little. If normal resolution your phone lag is come after 45 mins played. With this resolution you will get lag after 1 hour played. That was I said a little difference.
Yes, depending on what exactly phone you use.
I got 6.3 inches and 1080x2340 res what can you recommend that i must use lower resolution? And i find this video helpful if this works on me. 😁
Im having trouble now it says when i change the resolution. Must hold permission android.permission.Write_Secure_Settings idk what to do. 😂
Do I need to everytime type in commands after restarting my phone?
edit: also after doing this my in display fingerprint isn't working....
really nice, feels like its gonna bring a lot of good changes to my phone so im gonna edit this comment in 1 week and tell you guys if it is really good\beneficial and grabster thanks a lot for this
Edit : So guys believe me this thing is so helpful my phone charges a lot faster and I get constant 60 fps in games like any game I normally use to get 40-50 fps but now I get constant 60, phone also doesn't heat up much and the best think is that it totally works give it a try

@@a_lost_traveller well it did I'll just edit my comment
I hope this comment will be noticed, I am currently using Samsung with Android 9 version (Pie) and I only know the rooted method for this stuff which is the build.prop editing from my old phones. And now my Android 9 isn't rooted and I want to give your tutorial a shot, did you also try to set a lockscreen after doing this? And, another question, if I unplug and turn off the USB debugging, will the resolution could back to normal or it will become its default reso? Please respond. Thankyou.
_Did you also try to set a lockscreen after doing this?_
I have not not tried it but i'm sure it will work. Please backup your things before trying though.
_if I unplug and turn off the USB debugging, will the resolution could back to normal_
No, your resolution will stay after you unplug or turn off USB debugging. I've explained it in the video on how to revert it back to normal. Some phones will reset it after a reboot but some may not.
@@Grabster thanks mate, you just earned another subscriber. I hope you'll create more tutorials like this.
Does it work for Samsung phones? Because as far as I know, these things like adb command, bootloader unlocking, trying to install custom roms can damage or brick Samsung phones. My device is S20 FE 5G, running on Android 11 One UI 3.1
Went from 1080x2160 to 720x1440 and phone still looks usable.
Nice
Every thing is good but my keyborad is not visible fully
why my android says: Security exception: Must hold permission android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Double check that you have USB debugging enabled.
enable disable permission monitoring in developer option
Came back to this video after buying a 7" onn tablet and lowered resolution to 300x512 and density to 120. Screen looks like crap but now i can watch videos at 720p without lag. lol
That's the only compromise you have to make. But if its not unusable, its not a big deal
@@Grabster ya for a gamer that's a plus.
What did you put it om
Mine is 2k as well
I tried it but the phone screen become small and didn't fill all of the screen, does it not work on phones in this year?
Bro dpi and screen resolution are same or not ??
It doesn't work for me. I tried to lower my resolution to 540p but when I checked aida64 it shows my default resolution, but when I increase my resolution it works but it makes my phone much laggy
Aida shows you your default, actual screen resolution. You can tell if it worked or not by simply looking at the screen elements. If they've increased in size then it worked.

Hi Mr Grabster ,
I like ur videos alot and have subbed to ur channel as well.Is there an adb shell command to open specific settings such as Display settings, Hdmi CEC ,security settings etc.
