Of all the years of shows, Oxford stands out. Such a copacetic scene, good vibe, and great setlists. I'll always remember Jerry like this. SO grateful for these videos!
I STILL LOVE THIS BAND AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, CRAZY FINGERS,PLAYIN/UJB BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES.............
Are you effing kidding me? Phil in full domination mode!!!! listen to him picking bass scales in PITB. Unreal! he's an absolute monster in this show.
16 years old at this (my first show) 1st real road trip on my own with friends. Remember it like it was yesterday! The freedom, the energy and the heads! Forever Grateful for this and many other incredible shows and experiences I had with this family, absolutely love that with today's technology, we can go back to any of these events. Makes it seem like it wasn't so long ago and keeps it alive... back when I was 16, never thought that I'd be watching this show in my 40's sitting in my living room with my kids on a phone. ;) :O ♡♡ Lol
It is so weird to go back & forget that u r old but I love it as everyone does whose a Deadhead !
Gooney Bird... Phil really pushes hard in this show. People I was with were literally bouncing on his lines all night. I remember looking at my friends after Terrapin and we were all absolutely shell shocked.
this was SUCH A RAD FAMILY LOT SCENE-
Such a good time! First outdoor festival show and it was awesome. The quality of this recording is great, considering it was 32yrs (!!) ago. Thanks for this voodoonola.❤ ⚡❤
Love this shows. Complete with Jerry's grease stain t shirt. A little messy with the lobster roll perhaps. Good times.
Phil sound on this is SO DEEP
was there loved it, miss it, glad this fragment is here, for my memory needs some nudjin these dayz
Thank You Voodoonala2!! I was at these shows. It was a Great scene there! Hot days, wet cool nights.
These were great shows. I played this Crazy Fingers the moment I heard Jerry was gone. All day long.
First song I played was Ripple when the news reached Me in Boston for sure. 😞
My favorite show. Phil bombs during Jack Straw. Band banter reacting to "we want Phil" chants. New(ish) tunes. Jerry's ethereal "Anywayyyy" in Morning Dew - also Jerry and Phil trading a melodic lick in the quiet part of the jam. And what a set list.
Thank u so much for this one if u ever come across the one in Portland Me. 1988 at the cccc! I would b greatly appreciate it seeing it was my last show I was at with Jerry & made him 20 minutes late to get back on stage after their 1 st break ! Steve told me to stay away so I did ! I was afraid of him & the influence he had on Jerry , my soul mate forever until I die ! ❤️🌹🎶☮️💀☠️😥🥲😢🫶🏼✌️🪐👽🙏🏻👻
He was so gentle but big as a bear but didn’t I love him & to hug him ! Never will I forget the times we did have ! 🥰😍😥😢🧚🏼🧚🏿♂️🧚♀️❤️🌹🎶💀☠️👽🪐🙏🏻😇
Rode with Jay and cousin Anne-Happened upon my brother and big Ron from Nantucket! Never such a great feeling as that night! Also ran into the lovely Mona divine from Williston and thought it couldn’t get any better until the mighty Quinn!! The best of times! Thanks for the Booter exams Johnny dude!
thanks you as always voodoo I truly am grateful for you nfa
I heard about this show when I Iived in Maine in the mid-90s; a solid dusting of fairy magic covered the countryside.
I was there...
I was at both nights...such a beautiful transitional couple of days
Thanks again Voodoonola. A funfest / wild weekend, one of the craziest ever; on tour (again) with friends from all over New England coming to these shows. Wish there was a video of the 1st Set Jack Straw, but what you have posted is very nice. Once of the best sounding matrix recordings, Weir is too low, but that was the case at most late 80’s shows. Loved Jerry’s attention to the vocal on Crazy Fingers, very engaged, Phil is also very prominent in the mix and his first solo at the beginning of the Playin' jam is tremendous. Can’t wait to watch the rest.
I remember Phil was dropping major bombs during Jack Straw.
Remember the wall of sound ? They had to pay 3/4 trucks to carry all that musical stuff so that’s y they had no money in the 70 s !
This is when I could take a break so I could go to do my thing but the bathrooms were so full I used the garbage can & people held on to me so I wouldn’t fall in ! What a hoot !
They sure have the biggest followers of all time still today with Bobby Weir ! That John is magical as Jerry was but not as strong , his soul has to grow more but it is !
It's hard to believe I was still a month away from turning 15 when I saw this show, which was not my first (that was a year earlier in Foxboro with Dylan, and I saw others between that and this show). I was living in Westborough, MA, about 3 hours away, but I felt like I was a long, long way from home, and it was a very good feeling. A very good feeling. In addition to the memories, it's nice to know that it's not just nostalgia, that upon listening, there were significant highlights worth relistening. Thanks for posting.
Bob's got a real Nigel Tufnel look goin on in this vid
Dying to see the Jack Straw .... many thanks
Wow. Funny to read all the comments that’s what I loved about dead shows. Each and every experience so different for everyone. Me and my hubby. Dating at the time. Drive from Rochester Ny. Had our tent. Great group of friends. For us it was a bit off. If u were at the back of the track. Speedway track. The sound was almost like nothing. So we were tripping of course. And wondering why it sounded so far away. We walked around for like hours. Anyways. To this day. We both Remember as outstanding the mighty Quinn !!! Not our best show but to each his own. Love the dead no matter what. Even if they are taking my money for the playing in the sand shows. But I am pissed. I will fight!! Never thought the Dead would turn this way. Money over morals. Sad day
That happened because of my friend Philly because he was looking to get married & found the right one & had 2 sons ! They never made money until the 80 s so it had to happen eventually !
I was there. Had a difficult time finding my car after the show, but it was accomplished!
No sh-t. Pandemonium trying to find the country lane we were parked along good fun on the far end of the country.
I’m so happy for all that got to c this !
I lost my car for two entire nights - lol!
Those were the days. Shots of Jack with little
When I got the call I fell to the floor screaming my heart out but I got 3 paid days off as soon as it was on the radio but I’m so glad that I heared it from a friend ! 🥲😢😥😰😫😩🥵🤬🤯🥶that’s about how my brain looked ! Blow the top rite off ! Stole my face rite off my head !
These shows are some of the best sounding cassette bootleg tapes I have.
what was the deal with Bobby's pink guitar? It always bugged me. Anyone?
Or the snake shirt!
I loved that shirt , it made a statement !
I always thought it went well with his Izod shirts
❤😮
Even though I was relegated to the parking lot for this show, I still count it as my first show. Got in the next night, and that’s how the love affair began!
remember the crowd screaming, for Phil to sing, a lot. Jerry changes the line in UJB to "Ain't nobody's choice". Saw Bobby look over at Jerry with that "did you just sing that?!" look on his face.
Where is the video of the first set. It kills me that I can't find it
Daylight.
I wish I had been there but don’t think I was ! .? But I love this show ❤️❤️🎶💀☠️🌹🌹🙏🏻👽🪐☮️🫶🏼👻🤩😵💫✌️🥳😥😘
Coolest space ever!
moon rainbows
I was here, awesome vibe , just graduated high school...ahh youth....
Just gotta say that these two nights were the epitome of six guys (and a whole bunch of others) havin at it!! I just couldn't be happier to have them in my memory banks. This stuff could never happen in todays fucked up world, but these two days shed alot of sunlight on many, many folks. Despite the '77 trilogy and 4/15/78, this Dew just sings to me as my fav.!! Thanx VooDoo for bringin it forward as I got back to it sporadically.
It’s one of the very best ! ♥️🥰😵💫🥳😱🙀🧚♀️🧚🏿♂️🧚🏼☠️💀🎶♥️

Cracklin' Watchtower!
Great set list and solid playing. Question, are Billy and Mickey telepathic?
Yes they seem to know what the other is thinking !
Holy Hell. I was at this show.
21:00 turn bobbys mic down...:(
Little Feat was great at these shows too!!!
Dennis Campbell yes they were. My 2 favorite bands in one show, Two nights!!! Loving life.

ISIS OSIRIS HORUS HE SHALL BE MADE WHOLE
Well he didn’t try hard enough because I stopped in the 88 of that year in Portland Maine at the cccc & I don’t remember after that what happened ? I got him high , made 20 minutes of his life very happy that last nite but Steve made it bad for us because he needed to b on stage so we carried him to the stairs then Steve told me to go away , I gave him Jerry & his guitar & that’s all I remember plus he said not to come up on stage ! A really sad thing for me to go through but here I am still holding on ! ❤️🐰🐇👽🪐🛸😘🥰😍🎼🎹
Without Jerry there is no Gratefuldead ! 😥😢😰🥲all that’s left to do is smile smile smile but I can’t !
