    I went in and made some changes as I was watching this and saved it as a custom preset. Is there a way to lock that in so that when I start a new project I don't have to go in and select that preset? Hope that makes sense.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 лет назад

      No, there is no way to do that.
      You can request that feature from Adobe. There is a new Feedback menu item in the Help menu to take you online so you can let Adobe know.

      Bummer. I knew I couldn't find one, but it was worth asking. Thanks. 🙂

    Can I add metadata to multiple clips at once by selecting them altogether or is it not possible and a feature limitation?

  • @SpikeAllibone
    @SpikeAllibone 3 года назад

    Well I loved this... I learned a lot as usual... I was actually looking for a date / time stamp column. I've got tons of unmarked video footage and tons of unmarked separate audio files that need synced together... I thought it would be clever to find the exact time of day that each take was made so I could easily identify which sound file went with which video clip. It must be around somewhere I'm sure... but I couldn't find it amongst all this data! - Will keep looking. Someone do let me know if I'm being completely stupid! - Since metadata must surely included TOD.... I thought this would be easy!

    • @SpikeAllibone
      @SpikeAllibone 3 года назад

      I think I found it.... it was.... or rather it wasn't staring me in the face... both at once! - So the audio files all have TOD marked as Media Start and Media End - and are easy to find and are correct.. but all the video footage was recorded on an iphone, and, for reasons I'm not clear on, all the clips start at 00:00:00.... IE the TOD wasn't recorded to the EXIF on the files in camera - despite the phone knowing the exact time it was recording.... so that's why I can't match them up. So my question has kind of changed from 'why is there no timestamp?' to 'why did the iphone not record it?' - which obviously isn't a thing relevant to this video. Onwards and upwards!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  3 года назад

      Timecode is part of every clip already. You have the option to shoot "time of day" timecode during recording. BUT, it's not accurate enough for syncing, for that you need all cameras and audio locked via jam sync which is additional hardware that you run during your shoot.

    • @SpikeAllibone
      @SpikeAllibone 3 года назад

      @@VideoRevealed Thanks! - Actually I totes understand it wouldn't be accurate enough for syncing proper... it was just to identify roughly which video file went with which sound file.... I later discovered it was the iPhone not recording the TOD for some reason. It was done through some DJI gimbal software - and something got lost along the way. Investigating now! Also.... donated! $$ (coz you're amazing!)

    Awesome vid Colin, I wonder if you could make a video on green screen render in when you edit in PR and key light in AE but rendering take so long! any tips or a video to bring down the render time would be great

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 лет назад +1

      Here are my green screen tutorials:
      ruclips.net/video/puuKSB2SC3o/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/QJBj51vpbu8/видео.html
      Rendering is all about your computer power and drive speed. If it's taking a long time, then the only option is to upgrade to a faster system. There are no performance settings to change the speed.

    Thanks. Question: If you do this for a project and export it, is that data baked into the file?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 года назад +1

      It depends on the codec you're exporting to and whether it supports Metadata. For formats that don't, you can export a Sidecar file.

    I just need a stamp that looks like this:
    Mon 12.12.20 12:23:00 PM
    I'm placing many clips together from the same day and the end-product needs to correctly reflect the time and date correctly of each shot.
    I'm shooting 4K video and the end product will be 2.7k 30fps or 1080P 60fps

    Hi Colin,
    Great information. Wondering if you knew if I can undo Write XMP ID on input? Here is what I'm dealing with. I have a big independent doc edit that started in FCPX, and I moved it into Premiere and then into Productions. I have about 140 bins of dailies in 4 folders by country where I filmed. I have been able to open the whole edit in both FCPX and Premiere even at the same time. I use XtoCC converter to move the project over. Today I read in the adobe Productions 22 page manual, that when working using a cloned drive, that I should check go into Premiere> Preferences> Media>
    and check both
    Write XMP ID on Input
    Enable Clip and XMP metadata Linking
    I hadn’t checked these earlier. Today I checked them after reading several tutorials. I had built a smaller project with just my Slovenia footage… Then I tried to open my project in FCPX, and now, many, not all of the clips that were in the bins of Slovenia wouldn’t link. I get an incomparable file warning.
    SO I think it wrote metadata to the files in the clips in the Media folder in Finder. FCPX doesn’t recognize XMP I’m thinking.
    DO you know of a way of undoing writing the XMP to the clips in finder and stripping away this metadata?

    • @VideoRevealed

      Sorry, I can see an easy way to strip the ID out.

      You only need to Ingest files if you're transcoding to different format. Usually for Proxies.
      If you just want to import your clips, then use the Media Browser and turn off Ingest. Here is a tutorial:

      No there isn't. Bit rate isn't even shown in Properties so there's no way to expose that information inside Premiere Pro.

    is it possible that platforms like BlackBox or Shutterstock can read out these metadatata done in premiere pro? Is this the way how curators work?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  4 года назад

      Metadata is interchangeable but it depends on the format it's in. Adobe's XMP is an open format so if those vendors use XMP, then Premiere Pro will be able to read and edit that Metadata.

    Hi Colin! I noticed in your rotobrush video from 4 years ago you worked on a MXF file. I'm trying to use MXF files on CS6 After Effects and it won't import because it's unsupported. How on earth were you able to import your MXF file back then before CC same in? I don't want to transcode everything and given you managed a way around it it must be possible. Btw your videos a fantastic I've subscribed to both your channels :)

      I do remember that tutorial but I wasn't doing anything different to import the MXF files. I'm sure that format is supported in CS6.

    Thanks, I have a problem, the metadata which is in the source files does not appear in the PrPro metadata panel.
    although I checked "creation date, I cannot find on premiere pro the creation dates of my files.
    Example. I have a file in the source folder which is from 07/10 2021 at 2:15 pm. In Prpro in "date of creation impossible to make it appear.
    on the other hand files from my mobile phone that I imported on my computer and that I import on PrPro the date appears. Can you help me understand? Cordially.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  3 года назад +1

      The issue could be the place to see the dates is being stored in more than one place. Premiere Pro metadata is based on XMP and the file system is based on the operating system and/or camera/phone. XMP fields can be customized to hold almost any type of alpha-numeric data so even it something isn't showing up, you should be able to add it yourself.
