    This week I'll describe and show in detail how you can make a big plaster cast, using an open mold casting technique. We will cast the torso of Empyrean which is going to Amsterdam to serve as reference for the students of my former instructor at Florence Academy, Sanne Van Tongeren, in her new school Figura.

    amazing work! i think you could also try doing a press mold using plaster and clay, it will be easier though requires a kiln.

      @EirikArnesenArt  Год назад

      I could try but since the silicone doesn't pull moisture out of the clay it's a bit tricky to do with this kind of mold. And I don't have access to a kiln. But it would be really cool!

    Beautiful work. Can you post a video showing how to fix broken or chipped figural plaster wall hangings?

      Hello! Thank you 🙂 Yes I will do this at some point. It might not be exactly what you're asking, but I will make a video where I repair a plaster piece using plaster. It's coming!

    Amazing! very clear explanation. I was wondering how did u get to the head to stuck the both part of the mold? or theres any technique you can use when the mold doesnt allow you to get to some parts? Thank u so much

      If I remember correctly I was able to get my arm to the top of the head. Burlap soaked in plaster stretched over the seam onto both halves is going to hood the piece together. You can pour plaster into areas you can't get to or you can patch open seams from the outside.

    Amazing! Now do you use a specific sealer to give it that statue sheen? Thanks!

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  3 года назад +1

      Hello. No I didn't. But I think you can seal plaster with clear wax to give it more of a shiny surface. I've never done it before though so I'm not sure.

    How did you do the brush after use in plaster.?

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  2 года назад +1

      I clean the brush with water, when the brush becomes to stiff and old I throw it away.

    Why not slip cast it in the same mold would save a lot of work and much less seam!

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  Год назад +1

      It's a bit big and tough to manouver. I also want the added strength of burlap which I can't do if I slip cast. Plaster is pretty soft and easy to manipulate so fixing the seams is not too much work if you have a decent mold.
