Would you say you like the Philippines more than Vietnam? I remember how excited you were being in Vietnam a few years ago.
Thanks so much Dan for all you do showing us these amazing locations.❤
Glad you like them!
Cebu is perfect if you are into adventures
1) Moal Boal-Sardine run and sea turtles
2) Oslob-Swimming with whale sharks and avatar inspired Tumalog Waterfals
3) Badian, Alegria Kanlaob - KAWASAN Canyoneering
4) Samboan- Aguinid Falls climbing the 8 tier Falls
5)Casino- Hiking in Osmena peak
6) Malaspascua(Thresher sharks) Camotes island,Sumilon, Bantayan island
7)Ginatilan-Inambakan Falls
8) Sirao, Cebu City -Sirao Garden Amsterdam of Cebu, Temple of Leah
9) Sibonga- Simala Shrine largest Church in Cebu Roman inspired
Check it out
Great tips!
Ban whale shark in Oslob. The whale sharks are in poor health. They get disease as they don't migrate and get cuts from the boats. BAN OSLOB TOURISM
Most of those locations are a 4+ hour trip in a vehicle. A flight to Vietnam or Thailand is a shorter commute lol. I live in Cebu, problem getting anywhere near a beach or hike or the places you mentioned takes a long time. I lived on Oahu for 6 years, a beach or hike or scuba diving was always 5-20 mins away
You two always look so happy together. Your wife appreciates simple life things and you are traveling everywhere. I can't wait to travel there this year and experience the same. Good luck to you both.
I am a retired American in Cebu and you are in the ballpark on most things, high on some things, low on others. I would definitely double your power bill estimate if you use aircon much at all. You can only drive with a foreign license on a tourist visa for 90 days in the Philippines, so you would need a long term visa like an SRRV to drive here long term. I think the biggest budget variable here is whether you have a girlfriend or not. I have a nice unfurnished one bedroom airconditioned apartment in Mandaue City in an enclosed courtyard with a caretaker for the outside and parking for 11,000 pesos ($200). Many months my electricity is equal to or even more than my rent, because I like aircon. Fiber internet 150 Mbps up/down 1700 pesos ($32), Water is cheap. Food is variable. You can definitely make it on your figures, but I agree that you would not be eating out much. If you want to check out rental housing I recommend Lamudi properties where I found my apartment:

Nice post Michael … best wishes
The cost of living in any country 100% linked to your income & the lifestyle you chose to live, if you can survive in your home country on a certain budget & then move to another country where the cost of living is cheaper then you can improve your lifestyle, but it's not always about money, there are many factors that contribute to a better lifestyle & with it contentment & happiness.
Love the two of you. Keep the love flame alive!
You Dan and based on Qiang's glowing smiles are the luckiest couple I know. Wow, you really enjoyed several great adventure there in Moalboal. Cool spot. I have done 2 Whale Shark dives and I noticed they were getting fed and really hanging out with the people close up. Awesome! And the drone shot of the whales was amazing! Ziplines, rivers, such a neat spot and not too far from Cebu city and Dumugete. You two rock. I should be so blessed to be coupled with such ideal partnership.
She knows how to set an itenerary for sure. Was one of your vest presentations. Keep feeding her well, lol. Forever slim she is. Great stuff Dan. Blessed! Enjoying every minute!
Thanks Robert!
A good review thank you. I’ve been to Moalboal several times, including a couple of weeks earlier this year. Our costs were similar to yours, and we made a few contacts for accommodations next trip. I’m seriously considering Moalboal for a longer stay next time.
I'm in Cebu City, nice condo with gym and pool, 24 hr security. Living on $1500 mo. USD
Thats pretty good. Congrats!
This is your best one yet! You guys are totally chill humble! great personalties Way better than your voice overs! Thanks! very entertaining and motivating!!
I have lived in Moalboal for a few years. My average monthly expenditure is about $2,000 USD which includes $500 for a house and garden. Our lifestyle would be double this amount in the USA.
I would add a thousand more for food since I don’t drink but I like to eat out most days . Good video
Video begins at 13:25
I like that you show the prices of items...people want to know what things cost...thank you...cheers🍷🇨🇦
You keep tempting me, im ready!
Having watched this, and other like- kind videos of the cost of living in the Philippines, wife and I have an income we believe can rather easily support monthly expenses of about $2,750 per month, and wondered what kind of lifestyle we can enjoy for a couple in their late 60's. Now if I can only convince her to put boots on the ground for a vacation or two, or three...lol. That coupled with her spoken hesitation to embrace the culture, makes this not much more than a dream. But thank you for all you do!
Everything starts as a dream. :-)
Amazing!! The food Looks delicious and very affordable. TY for sharing. You both look very happy together. 😊🤗😎😍
Very informative as usual. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you William!
Keep in mind that the Philippines currently has a really high inflation rate. Food and electric are the two most affected
As usual, video is very well done and full of useful info. I love the underwater video shots, and diving info, since this is the main attraction for me.
Thank you for this thoughtful and well researched video. I enjoyed it very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid
Really cool youtube channel. Love the Philippines info. and your chemistry with the Mrs.
She is always hungry and never gains weight --- amazing.
What a great way to live! I would give this lifestyle a real shot if I didn't have kids. Love the videos. Maybe someday
Raise them there, it would be a much better place than most places.
Another quality video with excellent information and between Cebu and Negros Islands there are so many beautiful attractions, thank you for showing us these fantastic places with prices and what you get for your buck, Best wishes and God Bless.
Food looks great ~
Thank you 😋
Wonderful info! I love how you break out all the details of your budget and then have all the optional add ins like alcohol & entertainment.
I also appreciate how you share what you could live on if one were on a super tight budget vs what you know most expats in the area tend to live on, and you share the specifics about what tends to be different, both with those expats’ budgets and also specifically where they tend to spend this extra money.
This info is truly invaluable and could help people avoid the financial disaster that can occur when one dismantles one’s US life, incurs the expenses of dismantling and moving abroad, and doesn’t use quite conservative numbers in estimating what budget one would need to live a HAPPY, healthy and fulfilling life in a foreign country.
I also believe one should potentially not start by dismantling one’s life but should travel a bit first, to see if you are even a good candidate for leaving the states and all of your friends/family/neighbors/cimmunity in your later years, to start a new life in a different country, with likely a different culture, language, traditions, social norms, food, different levels of convenience and so much more.
I enjoy the both of you good video thanks from the old good usa see you on the next one
Well Dan as long as she is eating she isn’t yelling at you😊
Should be very cheap living in and around Moalboal, since its in the outskirts of Cebu. Can probably get by with $1K US a month easy.
Thanks for the update you both 😊
Thank you Dan and Qiang for this information ❤😊 . Stay safe and God bless 🙌 🙏 both🇵🇭🤗🧡
Thanks for watching!
Great to see you back in the PI Dan and Qiang! Keep the travel dream alive!
The budget is spot on. Thanks again for the video.
LOOOOOVVVEEEE THIS ONE!🎉
Great report on what looks like an amazing place - thanks both. Keep up the good work!
Awesome video.
Thanks for the visit
Good you found a vegetarian place as it's rare in cebu. I went to Leylam often recently . They cook great fried rice with egg if you want . Persian Palat Indian food was my favorite at old Ayala mall . Funny how they pick and choose who they reply to ?
Great shots with the whale sharks. Personally, I'd be beyond terrified despite my fears being irrational. Happy to experience this one adventure vicariously.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dan very beautiful place enjoyed the vlog as usual very informative
As always informative, interesting and great content!
Excellent Video Dan & Qiang 😊.
Stay Safe 💕 💞 🙏 🙏
Love love love it
Fun to see you guys adventuring!
بناء على اسعار الاطباق التي قدمتها اعتقد ان بلد مثل تركيا ارخص بكثير مع وجود خيارات افضل من الطعام وبالاضافه لوجود اللحم في الطبق
You should visit the Island and modern city of Iloilo, expats are coming in and the under rated island of Tablas Romblon, check it out
We are headed that way in about a month.
Looks like you had lots of fun. The food look good too.
I need to visit Moalboal soon 🙏
New subscriber but wow!!
This incredible couple are so awesome with their price details & now I’m addicted to the channel
👍 👍 👍
Glad you like them!
Great report. Thanks very much.
The Whale sharks and the Sardine run were both amazing experiences. I will be going back again!
Dan da Man, you forgot something very important - Visa fees!
I love king kong!! So cute!!😊
Fabulous video again Dan
Moalboal looks fun, we will add it to our list!
Eat some grass feed or free range meat to stay healthy!
Another Little Gem In The P.I. Nice!!!
Heads up about Oslob! Only found out after the fact that there's a huge net put there by the locals stopping the sharks swimming away! Definitely wouldn't recommend going to support something like that!
Wish i was there
More great info!
Thanks for sharing ❤
Hello there, hope you are alright and everything is going well.
Did you took some vaccines to travel for Philippines?
Vaccines are not required for The Philippines
Well Done. Gr8 Gr8 Worꓘ. 🔥🔥 Thx a Ton for the Post.
My pleasure!
I’am hearing people are saying that apart from entertainment and beer Thailand is cheaper than the Philippines since the pandemic!
Still expensive in with the exception of rentals i think. Plus factor in the language barrier and difficult residency requirements. I think Vietnam is much cheaper that Thailand and the Philippines. I like Thailand but i feel like a stranger there maybe because I am Asian. Further more their million of temples and Buddha is not my cup of tea and as for Thai food, i like them once in a while. I am Filipino and i am partial to Filipino food if prepared and cooked properly with no sugar unless it is called for. Foreigners has this misconception that majority of our daily food is sweet, no it is not.
Can you teach me what i am doing wrong. I am leaving cheap not doing anything fun like you and i still over 1k a month. Rent 400. Electric 100. Transportation trikes 50$. Visa 60. Health ins. 120. Food hardly ever eat out just buy meat and veggies local food market i been sick 3 times now eating. So i now shop at enzo meat or giasono. Eat out 2 times 400$. Water 5. Phone 12. Internet. 28. Laundry 10. In lapu lapu. As you can see cant touch 900 living here full time.
It doesn’t sound like you would save that much from renting over air BnB. All depends whether you prefer the convenience of air bnb over being locked into a long term rental.
Should cut through the chase.. It's from $800 in rural province areas to $2000 in city areas.. No need to keep up the study.
Good info bro
Love your content, I watch every video. Maybe a silly question but as for the budgets, you are talking about the two of you correct? if so, what would be the approximate amount for a single person? so lets say in this video you are saying for $868 two people can live in MoalB. would a single person live for 10% cheaper? 20%? just a rule of thumb could be helpful, for me at least. thanks again for all your great info.
Thumbs up for a good vid!
Moalboal looks like a fun place to hang out for a few days?
We loved it.
Cool
Let's go guys...
Great video you like you loss weigh Dan???
Do you guys know the Bohemian kitchen show? Here’s a Korean Muslim living in Casablanca.
Outstanding video I give it an "A". The only comment I have is the obvious one. Dan, you already have a companion. Someone going overseas doesn't want to be alone especially when their are plenty of lovely options. I would budget another $500 to $800 USD monthly if you are looking for a girlfriend or just want to have fun. Life is good in the PI enjoy it!
We have relatives in PI. We pay the “relative tax”. Gotta add that to our monthly budget 😂.
I plan to take classes for Microsoft and get more familiar with computers to retire early than live overseas.
When you say "if the two of you moved to Moalboal" it would cost for two people $1128 or is it for just one person?
Love you guys
The cost of living in the Philippines seems cheap. Hi Michael. I've decided to move to the Philippines because life in Canada is becoming increasingly difficult. I have been doing a lot of research about the Philippines and I heard a lot of negative things about the Philippines but I won't let that stop me. Do you guys recommend retiring in the Philippines? Is it easy to own a property? How about opening a business?
You can not own property there as a foreigner. You can buy a condo although. I just spent 3 weeks at one in cubu IT park . I could suggest you try here if you want a good mix of American and filippino lifestyles.
try to stay for a month look for an apartment or air bnb.. and see if you like it.. dumaguete or siargao are place I may recommend👍
I have a Filipina wife , super skinny when we first met I mean 42kg and 5’2”.
Question for your wife, how do you stay so skinny?
What the total coast of rent, food electricity, and let see where u live and your place?
Hello @cherylsims5636, All of our videos have a webpage that has the information discussed in that video so you don't have to take notes. The link to that web page for this video is the first link in the description below this video.
In case you don't know how to find the link, here is a RUclips video teaching how:
ruclips.net/video/p4bP4xd7J4s/видео.html
Most of our videos have multiple links to important information that will help you save time and money. It is our way of thanking you for watching our videos.
So, ... thank you, Dan
$2k that's still high
Of course if u guys travel a lot and eat out that would explain the cost 😢
nice video, how's r/o water taste?
Have you done a video on the cost of living in San Carlos City?
6:51 1... 2... 3!!!! Oooohh 😅
I see the electrical plugs are different, is that type in all places? Is it advantageous to bring a plug converter when moving to the Philippines?
Here you go: www.tropicalexperiencephilippines.com/electrical-plugs-philippines

I take it there are a lot of English speakers in Philippines, rather than Thailand, is that right?
Depends on where you visit or live. You always have to bare in mind that speaking English is a 2nd language and should be given the credit it deserves. I've lived in the states most of my life and still struggle to speak PROPER English. I took a college course late in life and was astonished how much I was deficient in.
It's even worse when you listen to other Americans
who are of different income, levels or raised in multi cultural homes, uneducated, or just practice street talk. I am opposed to the use of profanity whether it's spoken by either genders but more offended by females usage. Today's generations don't seem to respect their own language or anything as far as that goes. I'm just old school but I 'll stand on my principles.
Thank you for your testimony. I'm old school also. I lived in Mexico for 4 years and I can well appreciate your assessment. Trying to speak and understand spanish, I found I had to think about my articulation. Then there's the putting the noun before the adjective. I know a lot of words, but my grammar is really lacking. But as long as I could find necessities, I was ok. Just not social with the Mexicans, as much as I would have liked to be.
I took Latin in high school. I flunked.
I'm from Louisiana. So it is so easy there to talk sloppy, and get away with it. But in another country, much more care must be taken. Nice to meet someone who yet has morals and scruples. All the best to you sir. @@garylagera7584
Wow, swimming with whale sharks. I have never heard of this.
Good Video
This cost of living assessment is for one person right? ☺️ (per person?)
Great video Dan and Qiang!! When you say long term for a scooter, do you mean a monthly rental? Thanks!
🥰🥰🇵🇭
Add Visa..Health insurance…emergency fund…return trip to civilization costs😂😂😂Much more…
I’m jealous you’re woman’s legs are taller than you. Lol love you Dan.
She is easy to look at for sure. :-)
She’s utterly gorgeous… but I would have to ask her not to speak with her mouth full (when eating food)
Nice couple though . 👍🏻
For a malaysian, she is tall
Yikes sharks
How do you keep all of your footage organized?
I don't. I just view it and decide what to do with it when I am making a video.
So $400-500 more than that estimate might be ok?
More is never a problem unless it is taxes. lol.
