Maine contributed a higher proportion of soldiers to the Union Army than any other state, and we were strongly abolitionist. To be a racist or pro-Confederate Mainer is a monstrous insult and betrayal of our ancestors.

Bumped into these guys in economy class on a flight back to Portland from Chicago a few years back. They are exactly as they appear in their videos. Down to earth but fun loving; just good company on a late evening flight back home. Chatted with Max Davis (banjo, vocals) about their recent, however modest, honor of the Maine legislature voting this song the official state ballad. It memorializes Joshua Chamberlain's desperate bayonet charge from Little Round Top. Out of ammunition and outnumbered, it helped turn the tide at the Battle of Gettysburg. Maine's little slice of fame and heriosm in the Civil War. Max seemed genuinely appreciative that a random stranger even recognized who they were. I wondered in that moment how many hard working, quietly talented musical groups there are out there, waiting to acheive mainstream recognition. If you like this song, check out "Montreal" and "Little Bird". I hope these guys get discovered someday.

Congratulations guys on getting this great song to be the new Maine State Song!!! I love the steady driving but not overpowering beat making me think of soldiers steadily advancing to meet the enemy. The harmonies are awesome... Very Cool song !!
Tis a pleasure to say I am proud to be of good Maine stock, and there are generations that I see before me in my two sons and four grandsons, Joshua Chamberlain once said " the power of noble deeds are to be preserved and passed down to the future" may God grant this to be true, let death of the brave not be in vain..ye are the boys of Maine.

Happy Birthday to the State of Maine today on the 15th of March! I just learned about the real significance of Maine being added as a state to the United States today from my favorite Maine historian and professor, Heather Cox Richardson (Look her up on Facebook and read her historical essays for free)! I never really understood or remembered the meaning of the Missouri Compromise or the Kansas-Nebraska Act until today! I never knew about all the connections between the men from Maine who traveled to Illinois, much less their connections to Abraham Lincoln! What a fascinating story! These lyrics really bring it to life! Thanks to all the men of The Ghost of Paul Revere for writing and singing this wonderful song! Maine is lucky to have you!
We have suffered enough innocents lives! We need to unionize and call a school strike, work strike and buying strike, until the powers that move gun violence and politicians cannot hold out any longer for lack of billions of dollars. Stand up for the innocents that cannot! Stand down on attending school, work or purchasing any thing except the very basic's.
