That Fed slice really did the work here, he knew he couldn't consistently out rally Gasquet mono e mono with the backhands so he used his diverse repertoire and tore him apart
What a present to greet us this year. As much excitement as you always do, to be able to watch Roger's play is as much as being grateful to live the day.
now it's rare to watch great players with single backhand. back in 80'-90' we can see McEnroe, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Sampras dominated the tournaments and GS. now all we can see weak era champ Djokovic's girly backhand
Well if Novak's backhand is girly what about Bjorn Borg who dominated from the baseline and Agassi who was regarded as the best returner and best baseliner also in the 90s?
If you search Rogrt Federer in youtube you get a plathora of videos showing how to hit this shot and that shot and on and on. Searching Novak Djokovic gives you all videos about how he once danced, immitated another player, mainly drama. If he is GOAT like people say according to his record...how come there are no videos of him showing how to Volley, smash, slice, etc?
One of the few times Federer won clearly the battle of the one-handed backhands against Richie. The other times being Wimbledon 2006 and Us Open 2015 if I remember well. Most of the times, Richie would hit more winners from that wing
props to Gasquet for having a devastating forehand historically. l That being said, it will never be a "pretty" looking backhand. Too much unneeded movement and an ugly ending to the swing every time. Saw some guy claim it was one of the best looking ones and i laughed.
@@davidbregman1622 Do you... play tennis? a pretty shot in this context is how graceful it is. How little extra wasted movement there is. How ergonomic the transfer of power from feet up to swing goes. All that and more. We arent talking about pretty as in ball power or placement.
@@Djmorton-go5mt when I watch tennis I appreciate the most effective shots, which can mean it doesn't matter how they look. I was just curious what people look for in "pretty" shots
@@davidbregman1622 Ah, I see now what you mean. An effective shot is good dont get me wrong. But a "pretty shot" is one that is both efficient and pleasing to the eye. Thats why between Gasquet and Federer, even non prime federer wins both of those hands down. He was always more graceful and athletic than these players no matter what age he was.
Now this is the proper way to kick off a new week! With the great Roger Federer! 😅
always like watching roger play but you have to give it to gasquet he has some serious talent
Been a while, Raz!!! Thank you! Love it when Robbie commentates!!
How wrong the title of that video is, come on man, Gasquet played really solid and did throw some good stuff to Fed, nobody have been dismantled here.
Absolutely. I have seen Gasquet on many occasions - he played very well in this match.
This channel is a hronic Federer masturbator, what do you expect
Exactly. Dismantle means absolute crushing the opponent.. Lol this isn't dismantling
Folks come on, this is today’s RUclips algo. Let’s appreciate one more grand upload from our man Raz
This was probably Gasquet's best match against Roger in over a decade, yet I never doubted the outcome.
Gasquet beat him in 2011
how am I just finding out about this match now?!? amazing quality from both.

"Come on roger, thats not fair" is the perfect way to describe Roger Federer💯
Roger, Jordan, Messi, Tiger are the gods of sports.
They attracted people and brought great attention to their respective sports 👑👑👑👑

Thanks for the upload, great quality as usual. Keep it going.
Solid One handed backhand by Gasquet...Cannon like shots..
Great job bro , the federer backhand is pure magic🎉❤
1 handed bhs are so beaeutiful
The uncommentable great Roger unic and only forever
Thank you for this upload. 😊
In 2017 Rodger dismantled virtually everyone for the entire year starting with his amazing win in Australia against Nadal.
long live gasquet, long be his career
'Dismantled' might be a bit much given the scoreline and Gasquet giving a decent resistance here.
Incredible level.
What a two backhands
If has Federer... Has my like... Goat/God
There was something about Gasquet's BH. I know Wawrinka's was more spectacular and effective but Gasquet surely has the best looking BH ever.
7-5 , 6-4 yeah dismantled ...
Fed in 2017 was special
It was a great match from both. One of the better matches Gasquet had played recently.

Nice !
Nobody stops running quite like Gasquet!
The GOAT is truly missed.
4:10 How the hell do you hit a topspin lob off a one-handed backhand? 🤯

You can’t say dismantled when the first set was 7-5 and Gasquet hit some crazy clutch shots. Cmon man
Impressive!
Not sure if I'd call that a dismantle, but good watching.

7-5 6-4 is an honorable score, far from "dismantling".
💕

what makes a shot "pretty?"

Ur the only one saying that lmao
Roger always play great when he is in China. Maybe it has something to do with the Chinese food?
If R F would have R G one handed B H, R F would have won at least 30 G S by now
