    That Fed slice really did the work here, he knew he couldn't consistently out rally Gasquet mono e mono with the backhands so he used his diverse repertoire and tore him apart

    now it's rare to watch great players with single backhand. back in 80'-90' we can see McEnroe, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Sampras dominated the tournaments and GS. now all we can see weak era champ Djokovic's girly backhand

    • @Saskobest
      @Saskobest 11 месяцев назад

      Well if Novak's backhand is girly what about Bjorn Borg who dominated from the baseline and Agassi who was regarded as the best returner and best baseliner also in the 90s?

  • @radiohead2206
    @radiohead2206 11 месяцев назад +2

    If you search Rogrt Federer in youtube you get a plathora of videos showing how to hit this shot and that shot and on and on. Searching Novak Djokovic gives you all videos about how he once danced, immitated another player, mainly drama. If he is GOAT like people say according to his record...how come there are no videos of him showing how to Volley, smash, slice, etc?

    One of the few times Federer won clearly the battle of the one-handed backhands against Richie. The other times being Wimbledon 2006 and Us Open 2015 if I remember well.
    Most of the times, Richie would hit more winners from that wing

  • @DavideAnastasia

    7-5 6-4 is an honorable score, far from "dismantling".

    props to Gasquet for having a devastating forehand historically. l That being said, it will never be a "pretty" looking backhand. Too much unneeded movement and an ugly ending to the swing every time. Saw some guy claim it was one of the best looking ones and i laughed.

    • @davidbregman1622
      @davidbregman1622 11 месяцев назад

      what makes a shot "pretty?"

    • @Djmorton-go5mt
      @Djmorton-go5mt 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@davidbregman1622 Do you... play tennis? a pretty shot in this context is how graceful it is. How little extra wasted movement there is. How ergonomic the transfer of power from feet up to swing goes. All that and more. We arent talking about pretty as in ball power or placement.

    • @davidbregman1622
      @davidbregman1622 11 месяцев назад

      @@Djmorton-go5mt when I watch tennis I appreciate the most effective shots, which can mean it doesn't matter how they look. I was just curious what people look for in "pretty" shots

    • @Djmorton-go5mt
      @Djmorton-go5mt 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@davidbregman1622 Ah, I see now what you mean. An effective shot is good dont get me wrong. But a "pretty shot" is one that is both efficient and pleasing to the eye. Thats why between Gasquet and Federer, even non prime federer wins both of those hands down. He was always more graceful and athletic than these players no matter what age he was.
