Patrice basically calling Danny a pussy at 40 minutes is my favorite part of this. You can hear Patrice figuring out a way to say it in a way that won’t get Danny upset. But he’s 100% right. It’s so annoying when people like Danny wanna act tough, talk all this crap, and then when someone steps to them and says okay then let’s do something, he hides behind whatever he can.

Neither one of them is right. If the only way you can command respect is through threats of violence you dont deserve respect. And at the same, as a man, you cant just presume to deal with other men in a way that completely precludes the threat of physical violence.
Another thing that hindered Steve was he wasn’t witty, if he was he’d able to deal with Danny by verbally abusing him there’d be no need to threaten physical violence
Steve saying that wasn’t him trying to solve problems with fist, it was about him not getting his ass kicked in life to gain some perspective and some humbling not for Steve to solve a problem with his fist

What kills me is Patrice, understanding and telling everyone, "leave Steve alone!" He related and Patrice understood what was going on with him. He tried being funny but Patrice couldnt help it, he knew where he was headed. Now both of them gone. R.I.P.
He was also the first to point out that danny was unwell in the "danny vs little nicky" show and danny later ended up in a psych ward likely due to a suicide attempt. He could really tell when someone was coming apart at the seams

This argument is why a lot of women don't have a lot of girl friends. The ability to not apologize and let something go...this dislike for each other just hanging and poisoning the soul. If I fuck over one of my friends unintentionally, I'll apologize and hopefully we can move forward. People that like to hold on to hate have serious problems with themselves.

these are the clips that make me miss patrice the most. when he is really trying to get an understanding of what people think...beyond what the instant upfront issue seems to be. he isnt instigating or trying to make a joke of the situation, but trying to get a different viewpoint than he would normally have.
You are so right. Patrice was the only person in the studio doing anything to resolve the problem. He was was really great, he was able to re-frame apologies for Steve C and Danny in a way that was both palatable and face saving. Steve apologized soon after Patrice's suggestion, but Danny - truth be told, should not have needed to apologize for someone else's overreaction - should have taken a longer view of the situation and apologized for the sake of making peace.
One of the biggest things I learned from Patrice. Don’t get mad in an argument, ask them questions about their side and probably laugh at something

At 48:00, how can Opie honestly say that's a fair point? Just because someone wants to fight someone else, doesn't mean they will resort to violence to fight EVERYONE, let alone their own flesh and blood. Opie tried so hard to be poignant, and just came off looking foolish.
In his epic fight with Jimmy recently, he kept saying the show evolved into something else that he didn't like, and he wasn't a part of it anymore. But it's comment like his last one at around 48:00 that show how detached he was from the circumstances in his own show, even back then.
If Jimmy actually leaves during the next contract signing, opie's career is over. I can get better flow and insight from some random youtuber. He seems like a good enough guy, but a combination of luck and the right people around him made him what he is today.

Actually opie was right as hard as that is to believe. Steve came off as someone with sever rage issues and he did bring up a good point (can't believe I have to say that) that if someone who he admitted in the clip is an emotional crazy guy who thinks assaulting someone is the way to fix problems I can see it that he would hit his child more than necessary because he seems like someone who would get lost in his rage.

Thing of it this way, ive gotten in shouting matches with family, that were de-escalated by nature of them being family. Shared history, bonds, roots, and thus, incentive to patch things up.
Conversely, Ive gotten into physical altercations with complete strangers, over the same things that Id only want to shout at family over?
And we dont even need to make this about family. Let me ask u this. What would emotionally compromise u more? A news report about an active serial killer on another continent? Or an active serial killer that police track to your apartment complex?
Just because someone is willing to take things to a level with one thing, doesnt meam they will always take it to that same place in another.
