I believe the turbo combination with the 7 speed dual clutch actually got better mileage. Now that they have the 2.4 with the 6 speed the mileage has tanked a bit
I'm loving my 2020 SE AWD, I'm coming from a compact Nissan Sentra SR. I choose the vehicle for the naturally aspirated non cvt engine, and great price point. Is it smaller than other suv's in the class? yes. does it get slightly worse mpg? yes. I don't need start/stop and all the extra jazz that can just go wrong down the road. Hyundai's warranty, The Android Auto, and Safety features/rating sealed the deal. It's a great basic compact suv and I recommend it to anyone coming from a sedan that wants slightly better road manners than a car, and the convenience of a hatch. Literally the only disappointment I have in the car is lack of the led driving lights, and lack of the roof rails. So go for the value model over the se if you want those.
Some are. Unfortunately it’s the luck of the draw. I know many with many miles but also know some that started burning oil. It just depends. I’m religious with the oil change intervals
I haven't had any problems with my 2017 Tucson 2.0L SE Plus until the motor blew 2 days ago around 51,097 miles. All covered by the great Hyundai Warranty. This happened while my wife was on the freeway at 70+mph. Crazy part is we've seriously been extra good to this car while racking up those miles. We've only used Amsoil Signature Series full synthetic every 5,000 miles, Amsoil 25,000 mile oil filters and Wix air and cabin air filters but replaced every 5,000 miles. We've even had oil samples taken and sent to Horizon Eoilreports for a lot of these oil changes with no serious issues found during. Our dealership said part fail sometimes and the girl at the rental place said... Dealership sent you... let me guess blown motor! That why I found your video I was looking to see how common a problem it was!
Wow that’s crazy! Hyundai’s 2.0 usually doesn’t do that. I mean I guess it does but less often. The 2.4 usually goes first. Glad your wife was able to make it off ok and no one was hurt! Just curious. Aren’t the oil change intervals every 3750 miles? Or does it differ depending on region?
@@thweepz she said it was super scary but was able to coast over 3 lanes to the base of the Neches River bridge. I've seen recommendations 7,500 up to 10,000 miles or 1 year intervals with full synthetic but my dash is set to remind me at 5000k and its seems like a good enough manufacturer recommendation to go by. I've also noticed that the filters aren't filthy at 5000k but I can see where a replacement would be better. I order my oil & oil filters and samples analysis through the amsoil preferred customer program and the wix filters off Amazon to save a few $ over Orileys when I can. I have an 2005 Honda with just over 100k and aside from tires, brakes and a paint job (manufacturer drk blue paint started to peel off the hood/roof around 8yrs) it has been very mechanically sound car.

I change my 2016 every 3400 no longer. 102,000miles Hopefully it goes much much longer before I decide to trade but I want to see how long it could go but don’t want that engine replacement cost
I’d agree with you if it was a wet clutch system similar to Volkswagen. Unfortunately, Hyundai Tucson suffered premature clutch failure on many of their vehicles. We don’t hear of it too much on the elantra or kona but the Tucson did not do well and it forced them to implement a 6 speed torque converter transmission for later models. Nissans are a joke. Their CVTs never last
Asking for dual clutch in ford fiesta and focus 2011-2016, piece a junk, worst transmission in ford history, to early for that tech but gas miles is really god
I have to say, I got the 2019 Hyundai Tucson Preferred with the 2.0L GDI engine. I got 7.2 L- per 100 Km on the high way, and 8.0 on regular city driving. It does get loud if you start it because it Revs the engine a bit for it to warm up, but it does quiet down after a minute or so. In Canada the Tuscan looks a bit different, even though you’re Hyundai is a Luxury we have fog lights, and L shaped day light running lights with side mirror turn signals, blind spot, and rear heated seats, our car is completely stock and is 1 year old now with 25,000 Km on it did not have to bring it in accept for the regular oil changes, very reliable and nice overall for our needs, there is a lot of plastic in the interior though, but that is my only complaint! I would highly recommend this car! (Sneak peak of the car on my profile picture)
If you get the front wheel drive 2.0 the mileage will def be better. And the interior plastic is super obnoxious! One wrong move and you’re looking at a scratch and scuff marks
AWSOMEE i will give one piece of advice make sure the carbon doesn't get bad get it up in the rpms every now in then to burn off carbon as these vehicles are gdi i run a oil catch can and have 102,000 miles no immediate issues after semi solving the carbon issue. Though i had to go up in fuel octane 89 rather than 87. Believe the compression raised slightly or theirs very crusty layer carbon on the piston head or valves, that requires manually removing the engine head and scraping the psitons. I had to manually clean the valves even then without a walnut blaster theirs a layer that remains. Oh and change the transmission fluid at recommended interval. Other than that if you catch it early your fine. Would highly recommend this car
Henry Tom the downfall of GDI. I made a mistake thinking that this came with port injection added to GDI. However it’s in the 2.5 model in the sonata. So I’m just gonna have to blow it out once in a while

I have a 2016 Tucson with 94,000 miles on it and it is falling apart. Maintenance costs are the worst I have ever had I am 70 years old driver who drives very gently. Amongst the problems have been: 1) Cruise control module replaced 2) Traction control module replace, 3) Rear hatch latch control replaced. 4) Left side rear door latch replaced. 5) Two spark plug ignition coils replaced. 6) Brake fluid sensor and reservoir replaced. 7) Entire exhaust replaced due to catalytic converter failure. 8) Paint peeling off rear hatch. 9) Heater controls repaired after it ceased to work. 10) Last but not least the engine burns two quarts of oil every 3000 miles. Previous two vehicles (amongst many others I have owned) where a Honda FIT and Toyota Corolla both of which where incomparably reliable compared to the Tucson. The Tucson is my first and last Hyundai and I will be replacing the Tucson with either a Honda or Toyota.

Nice review man! Same here with the 2019 Hyundai Tucson. Had it for two years and had so many complaints, issues and even a lot of recalls than I have never had in my past two Rav 4’s I have owned: (2013 Limited and 2016 XLE) There were even features that the 2019 Tucson was missing such as no fog lights, no leather seats and no automatic lift gate which is embarrassing cause both my rav 4s had them and even more. And the Tucson’s audio system is the worst i have ever heard, it’s so low you have to crank it to at least Vol 40 to hear it, where as my rav 4s had really good sound systems. A few things I will say is nice to have in the Tucson such as Apple CarPlay, the touchscreen is nice, and the looks of the car is nice with the moon metallic.
After almost a year of ownership, it isn’t that bad. But I will admit that the first half of the tank goes pretty quickly but then the gauge slows down significantly from there

@@thweepz The recall doesnt fix the issue either. The problem is that the abs module shorts out and causes an engine bay fire. The fire spreads and catches fluids which makes it blow up. Their "fix" is a higher amperage fuse and a software update. Obviously that wont fix the abs module. Ours caught our truck and our house on fire. The car burned to the ground in our driveway. The gas tank exploded before the fire department could get to our house.
Hey guys! I saw on the news that this car has been recalled, be careful! They said the abs computer can short circuit even if the car is turned off so be careful!

The 1.6L Turbo is garbage. It eats oil like crazy and Hyundia will tell you that this is normal or you will need a new engine but it's not covered under warranty or recall. The dual clutch in the 2017 is crap but if you change the oil on time, it seems to last. The turbo also has a problem with the module waste gate however again, Hyundia does not warrant this of have a recall all for the 2017 models but before at after are covered engines... go figure.
i have 1.6 petrol 2019 year all hoses cooling system are leaking 14k milleage , need to replace all assemble hoses . Olready thinking to sell . Sorry Hyundai.
Keep up on those oil changes… 3000 miles or 3 months. I work at a Hyundai dealer and regardless 2.0 or 2.4, the oil breaks down fast in these engines. A lot of people don’t realize that the 2.0’s start to consume oil until it’s too late.
That’s the point of the video. I really like the car. It’s mainly a list of some common things you will notice on the car: my only real complaint on it is the easily scratched interior and the gas mileage. Otherwise I love it!
I can confirm that 1.6 T-GDI + 7 speed automatic grear is big missunderstanding in this model. It's dangerous because of gear lags. Next complain is radio which sound is making like PC Speaker when outside temperature is at least -10C Celcius.
Do you have any REAL Complaints, Low gas mileage is evident on the label. Why should I care about PREVIOUS problems. What is current? The only problems I have is I cannot get in/out with rubbing my legs on the lower frame. And, ducking the front doors top frame angle, The Worst is bumping my head against the top of the door frame entering.
Probably the worst complaint of all is the interior quality. It scratches soooo easily. But the point of this video was to talk about common complaints you will see with the vehicle.

I’m sorry my comment caused an issue. Tbh I’m not sure as to why the quarter tank intervals are so different. For a 16.4 gallon tank. The quarter tank should use 4.1 gallons. However when filling the tank from that point I’m only measuring about 2.5 gallons. When my car hits 1/4 tank, I only fill about 10.5 gallons of fuel rather than 12.3. Is there a defect with my gas gauge? Or are we needing to measure vapors as well? If you know please let me know so I can educate further. I’ve never gone to school for mechanics, just science.
To go further, my 1st quarter tank lasts me close to 60 miles if I’m easy. My 2nd quarter lasts about 80-90, and my 3rd quarter goes over 100. So it’s measured but I’m wondering why such a difference other than weight since it’s still a rather large difference.
thweepz just measure the mileage over the whole tank. That’s the important thing. Know how far you can get on a tank, and work out your trips from there.
So far almost empty about 280 but even then only filling about 12-13 gallons of fuel. I was reading on a forum that fuel tank shape does vary between vehicles and some may use the first half more slowly if the top half of the tank has more volume to it since the bulb travels a little more slowly. This Tucson may just have the opposite 🤷♀️. I just like to pull from multiple sources so I always comment with speculation. Either way I’ll probs have to let it go down further til the light comes on. Thanks for the criticism as it helps to improve the channel.

I’m getting ready to buy a 2016 Tucson Eco AWD from CarMax … should I run ? or is this a good buy ? I’m not going off road it’s my day to day car get me to work things as such. I don’t have any kids or anything I like the SUV because of the AWD for the winter
I don’t want to say run. But make sure the warranty is good. The eco does have the 7 speed DCT. Not all of them went bad and if on the Highway it will be better. I know plenty of people in Vegas who have the eco models and they are still good. Take a thorough test drive of the car
If you can try to find a 2019 or newer with the 2.4L engine and AWD.
@@s.j.1298 agreed.
I have the 2020 Hyundai Tucson se with the 2.0L with the htrac and I get 29mpg city and 32mpg highway, a full tank usually lasts me a little over a week
That’s interesting. Generally the numbers are a bit lower for the 2.0 and AWD mix
I have a 2016 with 1.6 turbo and I have been very pleased with the gas mileage. I've got as high as 33 combined.
I believe the turbo combination with the 7 speed dual clutch actually got better mileage. Now that they have the 2.4 with the 6 speed the mileage has tanked a bit
any problems with your DCT/ Turbo?
@@Rheisler1475 I haven't had any problems at all.
I've just got my 1.6tgdi 77 se nav absolutely love it nothing wrong with it
Nice!
Yes! I have the SEL and I love it! Great little car despite some annoyances but it’s great vehicle. Definitely liked the 2.4 better
2.4 2019 is reliable long term? Thanks
Qfruge i miss my Honda. Had the transmission not gone out among other things I would have probably kept it. The photo I have on my profile is of the car. She was great!
using Amsoil should have voided the warranty
psychiatry is eugenics Yae using anything other then Hyundai parts would of voided warranty glad it didn’t. I change my 2016 every 3400 no longer. 102,000miles Hopefully it goes much much longer before I decide to trade but I want to see how long it could go but don’t want that engine replacement cost

Noisy engine on startup is normal if you know what kind of engine you got under your hood...
Correct. The 2.4 is noisier than the 2.0. But still something I’ve seen being complained about
Super honest review!
Thanks! I know everything may not be 100%. Some things have gotten better with it as I’ve driven it more. But I appreciate the kindness
The duel clutch is a fantastic transaxle Nissan has the cvt its junk they drop as early as 10 k
I sometimes get 30.1 mpg on HWY. I drove very gently. Still has less 700 miles on it though.
I’ve gotten up to 31 but also you have to do a real world test
One wrong move and you’re looking at a scratch and scuff marks
thweepz Mine has the optional Htrac AWD
Nice. I’d probs get the AWD for my next car. I like the feel of it better.

Very dark blue but the blend is like 7 colors
My wife just bought a 2020 Tucson Sport at the end of the year. She says it pulls to the side sometimes. She’s now afraid to drive it.

The 1.6T motor gets pretty solid fuel mileage. Doing 70-80mph on freeway I generally still get 26-27 mpg. I’m pretty happy with my 2027 limited ultimate awd version.
The 1.6T gets way better mileage but the 7 speed can be troublesome

I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson Sport - blown engine at 80,000 miles. Unaware of the oil consumption problem, no indicator lights to alert there was a problem. I had 1,000 miles until next oil change was due, prior to that routine maintenance had been done on a regular basis. Filed a claim with Hyundai, and they closed the case before I could get a diagnostic test. Worst vehicle I have ever purchased 😬 Over 500 complaints on the same issue...

1) Cruise control module replaced
2) Traction control module replace,
3) Rear hatch latch control replaced.

The Tucson’s themselves are great! Sometimes though not the best luck
What trim do you have?
The gas mileage thing about a part going down faster than other has happened to me in probable 3 cars I have owned so I think it is kinda natural.
After almost a year of ownership, it isn’t that bad. But I will admit that the first half of the tank goes pretty quickly but then the gauge slows down significantly from there

@@chickenfixn4439 oh no!
@@thweepz The recall doesnt fix the issue either. The problem is that the abs module shorts out and causes an engine bay fire. The fire spreads and catches fluids which makes it blow up. One thing I’ll say is it’s not expensive to fill the tank.
The 1.6L Turbo is garbage. It eats oil like crazy and Hyundia will tell you that this is normal or you will need a new engine but it's not covered under warranty or recall. The dual clutch in the 2017 is crap but if you change the oil on time, it seems to last. The turbo also has a problem with the module waste gate however again, Hyundia does not warrant this of have a recall all for the 2017 models but before at after are covered engines... go figure.

Gas mileage has nothing to do with the shape of the tank?!?! Go back to school, seriously. Why don’t you measure the actual consumption??
Thanks for the criticism as it helps to improve the channel.
thweepz have you actually measured the fuel consumption?
