Your video helped answer 2 problems I had with mine it was leaking a small amount of coolant and check engine light came on and it coded the temp sensor and watching this showed me the problem. Thank you now for the fun part of replacing the sensor 😂🤣
Thanks for the video this helped so much. I did learn there is a spot for the clip to go into right below the sensor. Also compare the O ring is the same as the old sensor. The new sensor I received had a different thickness of O ring these the bad sensor
Question we replaced the sensor yesterday as the sensor was burnt up but not my connector. don’t even get me started on how long it took to get BACK IN) but now it’s still showing my engine is running cold and I was sure that was going to fix it. I still see the check engine light on so I’m not sure what to do? Or if it should be reset?
Or... damage could have happened to the wires under the plastic sheath. ive seen that happen plenty... outside wires and connector look fine.. but inside the wire is corroded.
I cannot for the life of my get that retaining clip to seat good on the rubber bushing .. It clips in to easy and the sensor comes right out .. any tips?
Yes there is no place for a camera to get back there when trying to remove the clip or the harness, I can tell you the tip of the sensor where the hardness plug is, you can turn that to about 3 o'clock then it shows the clip that holds the sensor , then with a flat head screw driver you place it on the opening then you push the clip towards the firewall, then you can pull the sensor with the plug still connect to it then you can unplug it once you have more space to put your had in there and play with it, I know it a mission imposible with the space you have to play with, but it can be done best of luck.
Well it depends what engine you have there is like 3 options for this year model , I think 2 that are 4 cylinder but one its a diesel and the other engine its a v6
Agreed i have 2017 with 4 cyc turbo diesel when removing the cover looks different for starter where is the oil filter housing?? and the oil filler is different place.
@@kennyadriankc when I search for "engine temperature sensor" my search finds the sensor for the bottom of the radiator. Do you have a part number for this one on the back of the block?
So my 2017 Chevy Colorado temperature gauge was changed but truck still overheats when idling or stopped for to long . But once I drive it temperature goes down . Not sure what's wrong any idea
Well if you change the gauge it may need calibration, but im assuming you saying the temp sensor, now check if the radiator fan its working on idle, the next thing it's most likely your thermostat may not be opening or it stock close.
@@kennyadriankcwe put a brand new thermostat on it but still heating up when idling . Is there anything that would make the fan not work like a sensor ?
Well after replacing sensor if you have the check engine light on you need to reset so that it will come out of limp mode, next if you turn your ac when engine its running it should turn your fan on if it doesn't ill check the power to the fan plug and see if it's getting if not you could supply power to it an see if it works if it does then check fuse and relays, also keep in mind that there are wires that go to the fuse box that are know for been cut do to sharp corners around the wires. Best of luck
Yes you are taking a sensor that reads the temperature of the engine, if you take it out it will drain the antifreeze until it gets level with. Completely normal just make sure you add some back and bleed the system
The clip comes out when you push it towards the firewall away from the engine and whe you put the sensor on make sure you really push it down so that the clip will lock in place that way you have no water leak
@@kennyadriankchow did you push down the sensor hard enough to seat the clip and the rubber bushing ? I’m having a hell of time getting it to seat properly
@user-fq1ne9uh4m if you are doing it dry it will not work you need to grease on the seal to get it down smoothly, an about the pushing it down get a tube and bent it to fit so that you can push it down evenly
I did everything and for some reason it’s leaking I’m not sure if it’s the same place or around there but I do know it’s coming from that area maybe I did it wrong any evidence would be helpful
If you took the old sensor with the o ring out and you put the new one with new oring on it then the only thing you having problems with its that you need to push the sensor down, so it you take the sensor out you will see a mark on the Cooper part of the sensor that means the clip its staying there and the sensor its not seating properly, so after the sensor its in place with the clip just push it down and it will fully clip

@@riozz5201 yes I did.. there were small grooves right above where the sensor part met the plastic clip and it clipped in and is running fine now. It does clip over there plastic

Glad I could help, but definitely its fun time replacing this sensor best of luck
Nice video.... i will be replacing this as well when its time to do the timing belt.
Thank you, for sure you will be in the area so it will be a great time to get it done
Thank you very much for the video, the tight space was quite a hassle, thank you👍🏽

Yes if everything its connected properly, reset the light and try again, make sure the sensor its push in all the way and connect properly

You didn't show how you loosened the clip securing the sensor or undoing the wiring connector. It's tight back there.

Where exactly does the clip go on the Plastic part of the sensor above the metal ring? Or on the rubber part?
If I remember correctly it goes right on top of the copper part of the sensor.
Am i nuts or does this engine look nothing like mine? i have a four cylinder 2016 colorado... ?

What would this part be called? I need to install this on my 4 cylinder can’t seem to find any
Engine temperature sensor
A problem came up any idea how to remove it if it broke off?? Only the part of the connection came off the rest I’m assuming melted off or something

What was the outcome of your issue?
My husband’s 2016 GMC canyon is doing the same
Part number?
You sound just like SpeedKar99! 😂
True very familiar
What about the crankshaft sensor location?
Look for it near the front of the engine by the crankshaft pulley or near the starter on the back of the engine near the transmission bell housing
Took my ect out and all this coolant came out, is that normal?
