@@BobMinsky Piano and guitar is a good combination because the notes are laid out so differently. We learn to understand the relations between the notes from several angles, literally!

Very nice. I’m not a musician, but still love to learn about these standards. I really enjoy the discussion about the composers, their history and how the song was important. Love this song, especially the version Ella and Duke did in his songbook, as well as many others. Thank you so much for your lessons, they are great.

I'm not even a piano player, but I really enjoy your channel. Such a great approach to learning standards. Learning the history of jazz and exploring the stylistic possibilities like you do makes such a difference when learning tunes.

Hi Felipe. Yes, this approach can help us when playing any instrument. It's how all the past jazz greats learned these tunes. In fact, they couldn't avoid it because it was in the culture at the time.

Lovely. I can visualize a trio playing behind you here---with the drummer and bassist listening carefully and sensitively picking up on what you are doing

I'm glad you're finding the timestamps helpful, Jay! I started putting them in earlier this year, and am gradually going back and creating them for the whole series.

You played really well. It is such an interisting sphere and space compared to classical music especially when you play that fat chords ( Im not sure how they are called). It is such dreamy and close to the heart. Thank you.
