If piston is at tdc and anti polishing ring is at top of piston ring them how is it removing the carbon deposit from the rings?

anti polishing ring is removing carbon top land of piston not of piston ring
after removing carbon from top land it help to prevent lubrication problem and polishing

This anti polising ring in AE only or both ME and AE

In AE it's is called flame ring, whose main function is same as anti-polishing ring but also prevents direct flame exposure of piston elements to combustion also
