The layering and blend of the vocals are so perfect that even without the instruments, these songs still sound quite full. What a genius Brian Wilson really is!
So true. It's become a cliche saying, but it's true... Brian was/is a pure musical genius. People hail Spector, but I think Brian was a bit superior, though influenced by Phil. Brian's creativity was something amazing.
@@chrisPAT03 People like Lennon/McCartney, B Wilson, and Richard Carpenter were blessed with an ear which could conceive of heavenly sounds and know how to gather the vocals and instruments to make it happen. In the case of Wilson and Carpenter, they could take a song that already existed (Sloop John B, Close to You, We've Only Just Begun) and work their special magic.
@Huawei is a criminal organization. I definitely agree. Of course Brian is known for his amazing falsetto, and he was the driving force and brains behind The Beach Boys, but his Bros, Mike and Al were absolutely essential to the band's success.
I really believe there is something special about ‘family groups’. Since they are all related their voices just blend perfectly to create the most beautiful harmonies. They all have some the best harmonies I’ve ever heard; The Beach Boys (Wilson brothers), The Bee Gees, and the Everly Brothers.

Me and my brother come up with the same ideas at the same time, even while improvising. I bet if Brian, Dennis and Carl weren’t brothers but just friends the Beach Boys would never have happened

The a capella mixes are the best part of The Pet Sounds Sessions. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is particularly amazing. The things they do behind the lead vocal are so entertaining and tonically perfect, you really don't miss the music. Then you can go and listen to the music-only track and it's like you get two songs in one!
