So glad I found this video as my husband and I have to replace our over the range microwave today. Will update my comment with the results. This was one of the first videos that came up, and it looks incredibly easy to follow.
Thanks for posting the unedited video, including surprise moment where microwave did not rotate out as expected, and your finding of the ducting piece that blocked it. Turned out that was the surprise I also encountered. Your video gave me the clue. I looked for and found where the ducting blocked the rotation. I used a thin metal yardstick to pop it out of the way and the microwave was immediately free to move. Thanks again.
On my Kenmore microwave hood combo, there is a lever you pull after you remove the top two mounting bolts. This releases a latch holding the microwave to the mounting plate. Had to look through an ancient install procedure to find out this secret.
@@dre6036 It has been a few years, but it seems the lever has located on the upper left hand side. As I mentioned, I had to go on line for an old owners manual. Good Luck…Mike
This was helpful. Putting down something on the cooktop was a good tip, BUT make sure you don't accidentally move the burner knobs while jostling around with the microwave! We burnt 2 towels.
Yep, that's a great & important tip. I never even thought of that because this cook top is induction so it won't burn anything if it accidently gets powered on, but for other types of cook tops that actually produce heat - yes very good tip to ensure it's turned off/locked or turn off the circuit breaker or gas line.
I know this is an old post, but it helped immensely. Got mine out and the new one in, looks sweet. Thanks again for taking the time and posting this info
Great tips on microwave removal! I can't wait to get rid of our piece of "bleep" Best part of the video is you and the lady working together, cussing a bit but loving it a bit too!
Thanks, your video helped me figure out why ours was stuck. Problem is I can't access the two screws on either side of the duct adaptor, they're covered by the bottom of the cabinet. Any suggestions?
Nope, it was the inverter. Diagnostic steps covered in part 2: ruclips.net/video/i7W96DUxR5M/видео.htmlsi=Krbd4qu3kaWoCspW Repair covered in part 3: ruclips.net/video/FL7KgVC6pmk/видео.htmlsi=yJKfX9ZCGwvTwdae
Just make sure your microwave is mounted on a sliding bracket before you pull those screws. Many aren't, and when the screws come out it's going to go crashing onto your stovetop. You might want to mention that...

Glad it was helpful & more importantly, you were able to remove your radiation box. 🙂
I was skeptical as well, but i tapped all over the silver part a bunch and it worked! Thanks a lot
Real world example of how things get done..I run into situations like this all the time, good real world test video

This comment saved me. I was finding it difficult to remove my mother's old kenmore and couldn't figure it out for the life of me.

Older models frigidaire remove vent above front door. Remove big screw on left then right.

Perhaps drilling two access holes in the cabinet bottom to get to those screws???
My problem is that the 2 screws above my microwave are impossible to get at. Im looking into getting a bolt cutter
How does one remove the trim from a Thermador built in microwave.
This is the 3 oven group
Micro, oven, then warming draw

Helped me out. Thank you
Great video

Wife had the heavy end. Hah.
Of course 😄
Epitomize "Blood" Sweat and Tears!
lifting it out you gave the wife the heavy side
Naturally.
They're bulky, they're heavy, and dangerous to remove.
Compared to the other built in appliances in the kitchen, this thing was the smallest, lightest, and least dangerous to handle.
@@Rchelicopterfun Oh... to me it looked like it 😅
Oufta!
