I see the snow orcs are larger than regular orcs. This can be explained by natural selection, as large bodies keep heat better than small bodies. This because the surface to volume ratio is lessened. This can also be seen in our world, if looking at a genus of animals. Polar bears are much larger than bears in hot and arid environments. It actually only makes sense thar snow orcs are larger and thougher than their relatives.
It is also explained that the strongest and the largest orcs ended up going tp gundabad as it was their ancestral homeground, their breeds eneded up being stronger and stronger after each generation and thats why you see orcs like azog and his son bolg being larger than a man
Especially being a neutral faction, I've been role playing a bit with it making gundabad the "orcs to rule them all" subjugation of all other orcish factions is the first of many tasks, beginning with the remnants of angmar
I think you guys did a good Job on that. The story is one that you could see happening in Tolkein's world. And it's that plausibility that makes it great. Now could mere orcs resist Sauron without another Maiar to guide them? I am unsure, but there were many Maiar in service to Melkor, and perhaps one of them remains in the North lending strength to the snow-orcs. An intriguing thought to be sure.
Probably my favourite Orc faction, done a stellar job creating an immersive set of lore for them. Your obvious hard work and dedication is appreciated here in the south west!
Love the mod, love the videos. I also love hearing about DAC’s lore and personally I don’t think many others do as much to honour Tolkien’s world. Your content is so well thought out and of such high quality that you trump almost any other LOTR mod or game I’ve played. This is of course just my opinion, but in summary I love the mod and your channels content 👍
This was a very nice and comfy video, very much looking forward to more in this series. Especially interested in the Dorwinion video where you'll spend 10 seconds on the existing lore and the remaining 30 minutes on what you had to create to make it work :P ( Dorwinion best faction )
Love the new series and all the content you produce! You and the DaC mod team have truly created an awesome world on top of the existing middle earth. I’m currently on turn 105 of an 11 faction hot seat campaign (basically all the forces of good), it’s seriously one of the best if not the best Total War campaign I’ve ever played.
Absolutely in love of these faction lore videos, looking forward for the next ones. Wonderful work, many thanks to the mod team for all these years of entertainement. Have a nice time, keep yourselves and your families safe in our days' madness and keep up!
I very much liked this style of video. I always wanted lore videos about added factions. One of the things I think you should add is some lore behind the elite units of the faction like Sauron's bodyguard or Isengard's Guard of Orthanc. Overall I really enjoyed this video and also thank you and the modding team for giving us D&C.

That's a good idea. Thank you. A section about the units themselves would work well. :)
This was a very good video. I think you overlooked, though, that Gundabad was the capital of the orcs in the Misty Mountains. That was mentioned in the hobbit, I think.
Love it; much smoother than the old format of these. Just one thing; maybe put in section bookmarks in the description like you did with the battle overviews?
GREAT!! Enough Lore to be interesting and it is well-woven into the DaC universe. I think the Tolkiens would approve. While it takes the narrative in a different direction, that direction is a plausible one in that it could have went that way without violating any of the premises or ligic of LotR
Have wondered about that place since Jackson's Hobbit movies. As Legolas was not on the book I felt it was of little importance as dwarfs are not important to me. Good to know though as now I am wondering about offshoot books non canon written while so many of us are still home bound and terribly bored. (How many Henry Cavill movies can I find and watch repeatedly?) Love the fantasy of Tolkien yet now I am picking apart his writing! See?? Studying more Tolkien!
Pretty incoherent at times, but ok. They lived in the snowlands for 5000 years? Why do they hate the dwarves? Shouldn't they hate the Elves more, if they are descendants of those Orcs that fled the ruin of Angbad? And where do they get these loads and loads and loads of dwarven armor from? Where do the Half-Trolls come from? I like parts of this a *lot*, but the rest seems about as deeply thought out as an impromptu shopping-list.

It is as thought out as an impromtu shopping list. I made it up, in about an hour, over a year ago. This isn't my job Bill, this is simple lore made up to give a vague backstory. Feel free to take the hours it would take to create a fully fledged fan made faction because I am not going to do that.
@ Simple Hobby = Little bit your Job. Autist take: I mean you do invest time in this and even get paid for it, the pay being dependent on the quality of the content you produce. Settle on; You made your hobby into a fulfilling, paid part-time job? It's such a weird attitude to have. It's a hobby, but you don't want to invest time in it? That makes it sound *more* like a job. But to be sure: DaC has now replaced TATW as the baseline mod, and that's thanks to you in large parts, so I'm not knocking you. Good work.
I’d imagine Khand’s episode will just be ‘they use axes and they in the middle of nowhere’. Honestly I say at first you should do more of the evil nations and your interpretation of them, because I find them far more interesting then the good nations. Mainly because we know nothing substantial about the large majority of them. Also I think you should use thematic music, like get some royalty free desert music for Harad or oriental, Chinese or Japanese music for Rhun, mongol throat singing for Khand and so on so forth.
If you study Ice Age animals like I do. I image Forodwaith filled with Ice Age animals and Neanderthals. In my headcanon the Ice Age animals and biology as well as Neanderthals lived in Forodwaith and that's what these snow Orcs were eating and hunting. Just Google Eurasian and North American Ice age Animals, and Neanderthals, and in my headcanon that's what these Snow Orcs survived on eating.
Wow, Thror was an idiot, also I find that Azog being a Goblin actually far more badass then him being a giant Orc or Uruk, I know they’re basically the same but one is better built for cave dwelling and exploration. Maybe it’s my much greater interest in Warhammer but Goblin would signify physical and marshal weakness, yet Azog killed two Dwarven heroes, one of which being a King.
Hello, this is a question to everybody. Do you think that it would work well to make the Blackroot Vale archers into more like a ranger unit and have them as good chock unit? It feels like they deserve to be one of the better archer units that Gondor has to offer. What if they would be more like the steel bowmen of the Dunedain? A very good archer but not the best, but they have the mele and defense. It's just a thought, I don't know if it would work too well tho. So please let me know, for I have many ideas but no discord anymore...
Can't wait for more, this series has lots of potential.
P.S I could listen to you talk about middle earth for hours
There's something very soothing and nice about galu's voice.
I reckon we are all in love with that voice.
Especially with the lotr Soundtrack in the background
@@moritz9821 i agree

12:55 that poor lad got kicked in the balls.. 😄
EDITED: Love the series!
‘Final, lethal blow”

Make's sense
Can’t wait for more episodes of this. I’ve watched both your hidden and open lore videos and I can’t wait for a new series!
This was great to the point where I'm going to start up a Gundabad campaign
Been loving it so far
Especially being a neutral faction, I've been role playing a bit with it making gundabad the "orcs to rule them all" subjugation of all other orcish factions is the first of many tasks, beginning with the remnants of angmar
It's a though campaign, but fun.
This is the best mod ever created for Tolkien's world fans, i can't wait to DaC V5
Yeah, this definitely works for me. Any kind of LOTR Lore video where Galu does his story-telling voice is a video I cannot wait to watch/listen 😁

This voice is like a lullaby, but then he started talking about the dwarven campaign to avenge Thrór and I got way to exited

But in all seriousness lovely vid and series as usual, keep it up.
Really great! Would love to see all the factions get this treatment!

Well structured, informative and clear as to where the information comes from, great work, Galu 👍🏻. You spoke very clearly too - the prep paid off.

This will be great 😄😄
Loved this video and hope to see many more! I love what you guys have done with the factions and enjoy seeing the thought process behind it.
I enjoyed your video a lot while drinking my tea this afternoon. Another great series has started!
Love it; much smoother than the old format of these. Just one thing; maybe put in section bookmarks in the description like you did with the battle overviews?
Good idea. :) Thanks.
Excellent addition to have a crossover of sorts between lore and the D&C mod.
Great narration and presentation 👍
Currently playing through a Gundabad campagin so thoroughly enjoyed this!!
This was awesome.Really appreciate this kind of content as it helps me immerse myself into the world of DaC.

I like this new format! ;)

It does.
