      We have to remember, when voices try to denigrate this system and tear it down, that they are talking about one of our most precious institutions. It’s not perfect, but it is as close as anyone has gotten yet.

    His description of the defense attorney is spot-on: arrogant and angry.

    • @dragonmummy1
      @dragonmummy1 Месяц назад +1

      Impish people would stop attacking the defence attorney. He had a difficult, if not impossible, job and I suspect Chump was a difficult client. He didn’t want the job and probably won’t get properly paid. He was working on his own with no backup. Yet his is a very important job. It’s what keeps justice in the western world as fair as possible. You should thank him for his contribution to democracy and fairness.

    • @vz4779
      @vz4779 Месяц назад +2

      Please don't assume that I need to be educated about the importance of our judicial system, democracy, and fairness. No one said he had an easy job, and no one involved in this case had an easy job, that includes judge, jury, court staff, and witnesses. He did get paid for it, he now owns Chad's house.

    Hi Nate, I was one of the first search and rescue medical teams called into 9-11. I was a professional that dealt with death daily for many years.
    What I saw at 9-11 still haunts my dreams to this day. 22 years later , a day doesn’t go by that some intrusive thought and or image doesn’t come through.
    I was very fortunate , the hospital I worked for made sure we all got the best help and support afterwards, but again. I was a professional …I chose that field .
    These people didn’t. I really hope they get the therapy that some may need. Seeing children is the worse. What an amazing service they have done and all who wanted justice are grateful.

    I LOVE this juror, Blake!!! Such a clearly outstanding and empathetic human being. The whole jury was a God send but I really like this juror! I agree with him about detective Hart. I also agree with him about how good prevailed over evil in that court room, from the prosecution, to the judge, to the jurors, to the marshalls, to the witnessess for the prosecution. Good truly out numbered evil in that room, and in a world where justice is too often hard to come by...this is what it looks like when the justice system works!! This was a truly touching interview and Nate is another good soul and such an honorable journalist. Thank you Nate. ❤

    For those of us who have watched the case play out from 2019 - thru 2024, we too have had to take our moments of ‘fun, joy, humor, joking, poking, playing, satires, whatever it be, bcus what he’s saying is correct, amidst all the chaos, there has to be a way to relieve the grief and stress the details brings to mind and hearts, otherwise, many of us would probably go nuts. The why in this case, is the hardest question to answer. Like Larry said, “For what?” For why? How dare they?

I'm so glad to hear there was goodness along with the most horrible things imaginable. I was touched deeply by his thought process. What I loved hearing from him was how he felt irritated with some of the things Prior said. His demeanor irritated the crap out of me, especially when he would demean himself about his knowledge of computers and many other things. Like he was trying to be humble hoping to endear himself to the jury. And also how he acted toward witnesses when he was cross examine them. I just didn’t know if anyone else felt the same way. Thanks to all jurors who spoke up as it was a real learning experience for me. Thank you also Nate and your coworkers for the fine and consistent job you all did. Nate, the 1x1 interviews with Nick and Blake really was eye opening. Most of us have known about this in great detail for many years now. Hearing their side of things really helps put things into perspective about our justice system in the USA. 12 peers are given facts and come together to decide one of the hardest decisions of their lives. They all seem absolutely incredible humans. I agree with Blake, I dont think they could have picked a better jury pool for this horrific case! Much love to all of the jurors who had to sit through that emotional roller coaster of a trial. Great interviews, Nate!

  • @maela548

    First off: Nate, you are truly the best interviewer. Instead of prioritising sensationalism and getting the most out of it against everything, you're always respectful enough not to push for answers that might be too much emotionally for the person, yet you still manage to get the important and interesting infos. Also, to just let them speak in their own time, is very rare. So thank you for that, this was another brilliant interview!
    The jury you've interviewed so far have restored my faith in humanity. They were all so observant and not stuck in a black/white thinking. What wonderful people!
    Blake, thank you so much for your service, but also your comments on Chad's children. It was my exact thinking, especially Garth. I actually worry about him. I hope he'll find a way to reconnect with his family and forgive himself, he seemed aware enough to at last understand the reality of what happened. The brainwashing by Chad is real, it's scary. It reminds me of what Jill Duggar described, the fear that was installed in them to act a certain way and show their loyalism towards their father. The Douglas family seems like an amazing bunch of people, I was so touched and impressed by all of them. I really hope for a reconciliation with at least Garth. He seemed completely lost.

    The "Honor and Privilege " comment broke me. It really gave me a wake up call. Most of us complain or do our best to figure out a way to get out of jury duty. Never thinking about the importance of the case. This Man answered the call to civil duty with pride and morality. I pray he reads these amazing comments and can see the beautiful things people are saying about him. God bless you sir. And also God bless you Nate. You were on this case along with many others all at the same time and you never let us down. I still remember the day you flew to Daybells home in a helicopter and we all realized where the kids had been the whole time. Ill never forget it.

    Nate, this was by far one of your best interviews, and we have Blake and the rest of the jury to thank for it as much as you. Blake's recollection of his entire jurist experience was perfection. I feel that justice was definitely served, and I was hoping for life without parole, only because I thought it would be a much worse punishment. Child killers are marked men/women among the general prison population, so a life of Chad constantly looking over his shoulder I thought would be just. Blake's explanation of the entire court experience made me feel differently about the sentence. It was the RIGHT decision by the jury! Thanks Nate, for your diligence and professional reporting for the last 5 years. I'll never forget you pressuring Chad and Lori in Hawaii with your firm question, "Where are the kids!" My daughter and I drove up from Utah to Chad's home on July 4, 2020 and placed flowers on the fence along with the other hundreds of flowers left there for JJ and Tylee. It was one of the best trips I've ever taken. Thank You for everything you've done on this journey to justice!

    I’ve been struck by the bonds and friendships cultivated between the jurors through this experience, in spite of the especially disturbing details of the case. In a much broader sense, many of us who have been invested since the beginning have found kindred spirits through our shared interest in seeing justice served. 1) You allow the person to speak.

    That juror was such an interesting, intelligent, insightful man , it was a pleasure to listen to him speak ❤

    Thank you for this honest and truthful conversation of your juror experience. You are exactly the thoughtful person who belongs on juries across America! I work in the court system and live with the trauma of what humans do to each other every day. It’s so so hard. I love the bailiffs who have my back everyday. I’m so glad there were people to support you!

      You know there are consultants who help lawyers with jury selection, right? It’s a big field because it’s so important in a case. There’s a lot of work that goes into these choices. It’s very annoying to hear someone completely disregard people’s hard work and give credit to a god instead. Please give people credit for their hard work and thoughtful choices. Any people worked years on this case and it shows. The jury was extremely thoughtful their deliberations and that shows in their interviews as well.

      @@venomousspecifics45 I know all about Jury, Court System, Justice And How The system works! Everyone works together.....
      I know because my husband is part of the court system in America. It's a team effort. But, God Bless America. Below Is Our Pledge Of Allegiance. One Nation Under God. It's for all of us in America, we are richly blessed, I am blessed to have a husband part of the court system and I work for Victim Advocacy in the courts. I know all the steps of the legal process. And stand beside victims, families and make sure victims & families have everything they need to legal counsel, and help to cope, prepare and counsel victims and place them in safe places and see that they are able to get professional counseling through the state and to prepare for trials, as to be sure the state covers flights, travel, and hotel accommodations, and stand with any of them to help prepare them for victim impact statements.
      The judicial system works together, but, we praise God for all the resources and support as we work together. And all victims, families and jurors are always thankful for everything, and everyone. We always know that God provides.

    What an amazing interview!!! I find it truly fascinating how much beauty and love and compassion and such a deep bonding of strangers whom now share an incredible friendship together! And something so special and beautiful and pure and its creation was from evil! Chad cultivated evil and instead of it spreading out any further, good and amazing people everywhere stood up and banded together and stopped evil in its tracks!!! SO MANY friendships and so much love grew for so many lives who became family to each other. That’s what grew and blossomed from Tylee and JJ when they were buried in the ground. LOVE grew and spread around the world! Love prevailed!!!

    Thank you Nate and Blake!
    There was such a great energy between both of you, which made for an amazing interview! Blake thank you for sharing your experience during the trial and sentencing! I have been following this case for 5 years and still get confused at times when trying to decipher ALL the ins and outs of this horrendous situation. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you jurors to try and grasp everything in a 2 month period, not to mention seeing those pictures!
    Also, thank you for sharing how you and the other jurors felt about Attorney Prior and his behavior! I have to say you were spot on 🎯 with your description about how he came off, as far as I’m concerned and was hoping throughout the trial that the jury felt the same….it seems as that was the case! It was difficult to see, with the camera angles, but seemed as though he would position himself so that he was staring directly at the jury for most of the time he was at the podium, so thank you for the clarification. It seemed so off-putting to me, so I can't even imagine what it was actually like being there. The arrogance and everything you mentioned was exactly how I felt and was wondering if it came across that way to the jury, so again, thanks for the clarification. I believe Prior usually watches these interviews, so I hope he understands how he’s coming across and that it's definitely NOT helping him or his client!
    Again, what a great interview and thank you both so much!
    RIP 🪦…..Tylee, JJ, Tammy and Charles! 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
